  1. Except that for 6 months people on here have been saying all you have to do is hire a young successful oc and you are guaranteed head coaching success Obviously not true since I think even hiring coaches from DII is beneath us
  2. I have no issue with hiring coordinators either offensive or defensive or hiring other head coaches or even hiring a head coach that may not currently be gainfully employed, I also recognize that being dogmatic about one type or thinking it’s a guaranteed path to success is idealistic and silly at best.
  3. Coaches get fired all of the time. I would say he is most famous for being an OC coach at Clemson and then blowing it at Arkansas. There is no magic pool that you should always pull from or else everyone would be doing that rout. Even that doughy kid from UCF is starting to not look like a home run pick people were clamoring for as an example of how if you get a young offensive coordinator you are guaranteed success.
  4. What did he do before that ? I recall him being a hot name offensive coordinator from Clemson
  5. Maybe we should advertise a Black Friday special where we are waiving all buyouts on our coaches purchased during the holiday season
  6. This is impossible I was told that all solid younger offensive coordinators are home run hires
  7. Agreed but also giving CCS a $2.5 million retention bonus is pretty uncontainable, he is in a tough spot, I’m not sure that there is a great solution to be had but I am a firm believer that fortune favors the bold and the more time you waste waiting on the right opportunities the less positive opportunities will be afforded to you. He is probably in a winless situation and it’s probably not his fault and he is probably going to be punished for decision he didn’t make but he has to do something and he has to go down swinging. Such a valuable contribution
  8. I’m purposely outlandish and inflammatory in some of my takes but the core of my message is actually more realistic and reasonable than most, I can understand people not agreeing with me but I really don’t understand how they can act like they have no idea where my opinion comes from.
  9. Fair enough that you like him much more is actually a big positive in my book, I just need something a bit more sexy that I can point to as proof positive that we are righting the ship in order for me to get a bit more excited
  10. If everyone can rush to anointing people great before they do a great thing I don’t know why I’m unreasonable for taking a more wait and see attitude.
  11. I would like to think my vocal negativity is mostly because of that. Just like KB, kelly has been anointed a savior and while its not impossible there is little evidence to this point that it’s true.
  12. To be fair there really is nothing anyone can say that will satisfy me, just fix it
  13. Probably an hour maybe two and I actually really enjoyed some of conversations except when he was trying to convince me that in a lot of ways we are better poised for success than we were 10 years ago, that’s nonsense and his stupid fluff piece where he stated the keep calm and play to your strengths meme that he also posted on social media that screams to me guy who owns cats and reads raving fans for fun.
  14. I’m actually an eternal optimist just not so much about things I do not completely control and seem to be in a death spiral.
  15. Woolard fires CJL so he goes down as the worst AD in history and many boosters didn’t seem to like Harlan at all so Kelly seems to be doing way better in that regard and it’s kind of a big deal (plus one made the CCS contract and one didnt but in all fairness has yet to make a football coach contract to date in life). That couldn’t look any less like me, not that there is anything wrong with that.
  16. Fair enough I just want to be convinced we can turn it around and maybe that’s just unreasonable expectations given our current lot in life, it’s just sad because I feel there was a time when it felt like the sky was the limit.
  17. Completely agree, fair or unfair ads careers live and die by football programs and since our program is a dumpster fire saying stupid things like stay calm and play to your strengths isn’t a way to endear yourself to fans that can’t quite see what strengths you hope to play to.
  18. In many ways but it still would be nice if CCS was worried about him slapping the taste out of his mouth
  19. He just seems a bit too corporate and polished for me and i error more towards direct experience than most people on here. If you won’t head butt someone wearing a helmet and people aren’t fearful that you could punch or slap them then you probably aren’t my pick.
  20. People need to come up with something that’s dooming this program when they can’t accept there ideas regarding CJL were the problem, you know the guy that did more with less.
