  1. I just know that there are a lot of biases that would lead someone to believe that this could be worse than it actually is ie it could possibly get used more in those situations, people remember the times it cost them more than when it helped them and the recency of an event; I guess I haven’t ever thought to study the matter I just know that anecdotal evidence doesn’t always pan out when held to empirical rigors but sometimes it does.
  2. Given the scoring nature of football any defensive philosophy can claim this so it doesn’t really matter if it works more often than it doesn’t it matters how it compares to other philosophies (I honestly have no opinion on if it does or does not).
  3. Exactly if you play with **** you are going to get some on you and no one intentionally is going out of their way to play home and homes with people that are trying to get on their level and could conceivably be competing for resources. We were where they wanted to be and we certainly did not owe them the platform to try to legitimize themselves with an equal footing contract, that’s not equitable because we were not equally stationed. We went all in on the help them up so that we all benefit plan and it has been an embarrassing disaster that I cannot believe anyone would even attempt to defend.
  4. And now if you hug someone you will kill grandma!! Sounds worse than allegedly trying to get your player to focus.
  5. Not playing them was completely in our best interest and it has proven itself over and over, CJL had vision for the program which has been lacking by everyone else associated with it besides LRS.
  6. I don’t know if I would say slam dunk when you are replacing a guy with the guy that couldn’t beat him but I definitely agree that he was the complete opposite of CJL both on and off the field...
  7. In all fairness to him we handcuffed his recruiting and it’s hard to be ambitious when you are taught that we fire people for that, heaven forbid he be perceived as powerful.
  8. It was a reactionary hire and he was hired to be the complete opposite of CJL which not everyone responded to and he probably felt compelled to take to an extreme, we decided to focus on academics and he had to have people that qualified be rejected by an arbitrary board and this was by far the biggest stage he ever competed on and maybe it wasn’t the best fit for him (we will see if he ever moved up again).
  9. If you are in year three and you played a part in recruiting three years worth of players and you have kept these players on your team after demonstrating the cruel reality that college football players serve at the whim of the coaches they most certainly are your players and the fleeting excuse of the past will have dissipated for even the remaining tens of fans.
  10. In his third year being sub .500 I think being less than .300 in total is in fact kind of a big deal. He had a little time to make a splash in year 1 and had he transferred the kid from Clemson everyone would be singing his praises, that he didn’t do that or even break the century mark has something to do with both him and CCS the only thing we could argue is degrees. Also if he had a won 8 games this season it would have been his success by most accounts and not that we made some horrible mistake in firing CCS.
  11. I think other than the phrase that we are kind of on the same page. I don’t believe that in the long run likely situated people face more adversity than most anyone else in their position and that if they think they have the luck of Job they are the ones manifesting their issues where others were too busy over coming them to notice they were supposed to be held back.
  12. At some point the law of averages has to take over and if you think you are the most unlucky person on Earth that is being more adversely impacted by extenuating circumstances than 130 other guys you probably aren’t going to win too often in life and if anything have those things take away games from you probably helped you get less losses.
  13. Without question at that point he would be sub .300 in 3 years with upperclassman he recruited and having recruited 75 percent of the roster, what does he have a 30 year plan?
  14. So you expect us to just sit around and wait for him to break his foot???
  15. I predict I will be outraged by something and fixate on it
  16. We would kill those children and have @NewEnglandBull his conference championship in no time.
  17. So @brybull1970 was aiming too high with the FCS plan?
  18. You didn’t find that to be a perplexing decision right off of the bat? I mean if they are the best he thought could put him in the best position to win I can’t begrudge him of that but it certainly seemed to be an odd decision that opened him up to questions about it more than if he had diversified a bit.
  19. Ya probably not my best analogy. I think as a group we are failing and at a degree higher than should be expected. That the rate is higher than what should be expected for the average player ratings vs SOS and past results I think points to CJS needing to make improvements in what he is doing ( I personally did not like our coordinator selections but that’s probably not atypical for me and he just made personnel changes that seemed to have positive results which it seems if we had done it sooner would have reaped greater rewards). Sure the answer can always be change the people with new people and I can have better results but if you are in charge you actually have the ability change the people you actually have under you.
  20. My only point is that he should be doing better at this point and expectations are not being met, it is not to say that he is incapable of making changes and being successful. Why it is that you think it is not a true fan that would question the efforts of a paid professional that has no connection to the university and not shouldering the blame on students that he is charged with leading and have a more direct connection to the university I will probably never understand and we will probably never agree on. If I am not a great fan because I refuse to say that we have the worst college athletes in FBS football (despite rankings, that they were within wins and that they did better under another coach that also changed systems) and that CJS is simply the most unfortunate coach in college football and could do absolutely nothing at all to improve his station I am perfectly fine with that because it is nonsense and completely unfair to people that are bigger parts of the USF community than someone looking and failing to springboard their career. You are a professor if one or two kids fail that’s not your fault but if your entire class is failing (even if you didn’t hand pick your class) it maybe a good idea to take a look at what you are doing as much as what you think they are doing to cause the problem.
  21. The biggest issue for winning other than recruits is typically the coordinators a head coach brings on and retains.
