CBS sportsline has projected Wisconsin vs Florida in the Outback Bowl in Tampa. Wow, Wisconsin travels and will fight for all the tix thay can get. The gators have a few fans of their own in Tampa. I can't prove this but, IMO more USF fans (people who associate with USF and attend several home games a year) will show up at RayJay for this contest than will travel up to Charlotte. There will be more USF season ticket holders at the Outback than travel to see thier Bulls in the Meineke Bowl in Charlotte. Even people reading this post will do the same thing. It's a good thing these bowls are two days apart. Actually, it doesn't matter whether they are two days apart. Like most bowls, the Outback Bowl sponsors know how to put together a winner- a full stadium and a faithfull national TV audience. It's all about fans that travel (of course Gator fans all over this part of Florida don't even think about it-they "travel" to home games as well. The Bulls fans just don't travel period..and the NCAA, our opponents and the bowl sponsors all know it. So what's my point? Until the USF fan base matures in number, but more importantly in financial committment ie. travel ,we're not part of the formula for the success of any major bowl.
