  1. don't get your hopes up yet on this kid. the first thing this kid wanted to do during his very recent trip to USF was to talk to Coach Levitt about lending his 6-9 270 frame to the Footbulls in 2006..no kidding. Coach Mac took him over to see CJL himself... this is straight from Coach Mac in the Green & Gold room this past Thursady.
  2. not to worry. even if NCS sells only a little more than its allotment and USf sells.. well..somewhere under its quota.. the City of Charlotte is a huge city and it will get out  the fans. there's a huge downtown NYE party held that evening following the Bowl. Meineke knows what it's doing. I'm sure they started marketing this game to the locals and the businesses ( ie..Banks) weeks ago. It's no Outback Bowl but Charlotte is a large progressive city. Our fans who have never been to Charlotte are going to love it and want to go back..that is if USF is invited back.
  3. The supreme importance of our (USF's)attendance at this first bowl game cannot be overstated. I don't know if or where any reliable final numbers will be published. The bowl sponsors and Big East will know exactly how many tix of USF's allotment were sold. These ticket purchases besides maybe a couple hundred from this board will include season ticket holders (and their freinds and relatives) and local corporate sponsors. I really think (know) there are more ticket buyers than there are ticket users. Remember the 1500 sales the first 2 days. These are people serious about attending the game. They made travel arrangements and got hotels reservations early before they all gone. There will be a certain number a tickets sold by USF from our allotment to "sponsors" and "donors" who won't (can't)use them because they, their people and friends (a) have no interest; ( other holiday plans or © can't find available hotel space in Charlotte The USF ticket people are not anxious to let us know what the numbers are. The initial 1500 tells the whole story in my opinion. I think we'll less than 5000 in ultimate sales and less than 3500 in attendance.
  4. Our group got 4 but, that was 10:30 on Monday. I'm hoping there are 4 of us who will travel. Guys, let me tell you something. Some of these early ticket purchases were"loyalty purchases" by donors who may or may not actually use them. The 2000+ in ticket sales at this point is disappointing but, not all those 2000+ will show. Maybe the students will come through. I don't see a whole lot of "marketing" or even attention of the local media. I'm thinking we may end up with sales of maybe 3500 and attendance of maybe 3000. I hope I'm wrong, but, this is not going to look good for USF.
  5. Any one know how we are doing on ticket sales so far this week?
  6. That's the question. How many of us USF fans will actually travel and be there in the stands? Since this is our first Bowl and it's on a great day-New Years Eve Day and Charlotte is about an 8 hr drive I would guess 4000-5000. And I think that's probably a little optimistic. Hopefully, donors and business supporters will be good for the 10,000 alottment, if not USF eats those tickets. But, how many will travel that's the question!
  7. Bullsayer has his reservation at the Omni- that's the Big East Hotel; about $200 per night for this classy downtown hotel
  8. When those five USF BB warriors are introduced next Saturday against Michigan.. me and several thousand basketbull fans are going to cheer our asses oof. These guys neeed us more than ever. Come on Bulls fans show up for the Shoot out with Michigan!!
  9. Whew! I saw that TAMCC and thought to worse. Anyways, Mac's had nothing but bad breaks when it comes to personnel. Quitters, disciplinaries, now injuries. He did a greta job @ Western Michigan and "his" team whento the NCAA to year he came to USF. I say give him a chance to prove himself. At least he's not an idiot on the floor like Greenberger..Bullsayer
  10. janitor. i've got a computer in the broom closet..
  11. Bubbles; Velcro beat me to it. I got talked into buying BB tix 5 years ago by a guy sitting next to me at FB. It took him 2 years to convnce me to attend my fisrt BB game. I had never heard of guys like BB Waldon and others. But, i was hooked and been to 90% of the BB games ever since. If you really love BB drive over to campus for the 3pm game saturday the 10th for the Michigan game. You'll be hooked.
  12. We're in both seasons at this time of year foir a short time. What are you more passionate about USF FootBull or USF Big East BasketBull. Even if you have season tix for both which one is your favorite and which one do you really want to support and why? For me it's the BB team because they're such underdogs. They have heart and hustle. They're so few players and you just want not to miss a single game so you can yell at those games as if you were a 6th man.
  13. There's no limit for walk-ons if have the uniforms and the room on the bench. Alcorn State brought 15 players with them. Last time we ran into a real attrition problem was Coach Mac's first year when we lost several players during the first part of the season, including Jimmy Baxter. Remember, we had try-outs during Christmas break and we picked up several able bodied USF students who wanted to play basketball. Don't know what happened to them. Maybe it's time for Coach to go mid season fishing in his own pond . What is there 35,000 students?
  14. These guys playing 35-40 minutes and getting their butts kicked out of pure fatigue all deserve our support and give them all a scholarship. Capko has been waiting a year to play. He finally got a start vs. Jax and has 12 assists. The USf newsrelease said he was a "walk on", meaning his paying his own way.
  15. CBS sportsline has projected Wisconsin vs Florida in the Outback Bowl in Tampa. Wow, Wisconsin travels and will fight for all the tix thay can get. The gators have a few fans of their own in Tampa. I can't prove this but, IMO more USF fans (people who associate with USF and attend several home games a year) will show up at RayJay for this contest than will travel up to Charlotte. There will be more USF season ticket holders at the Outback than travel to see thier Bulls in the Meineke Bowl in Charlotte. Even people reading this post will do the same thing. It's a good thing these bowls are two days apart. Actually, it doesn't matter whether they are two days apart. Like most bowls, the Outback Bowl sponsors know how to put together a winner- a full stadium and a faithfull national TV audience. It's all about fans that travel (of course Gator fans all over this part of Florida don't even think about it-they "travel" to home games as well. The Bulls fans just don't travel period..and the NCAA, our opponents and the bowl sponsors all know it. So what's my point? Until the USF fan base matures in number, but more importantly in financial committment ie. travel ,we're not part of the formula for the success of any major bowl.
  16. Louisville accepted bid to Gator; Rutgers goes bowling for the first time in 27 years to the Insight in Phoenix; Meineke in Charlotte remains. If UConn beats Louisville without QB Brohm (out for season) then we have a problem. Funny how a Brohm-less Louisville gets the bid for the big game in Jax and we could get passed over by a UConn..
  17. No, actually TripleB, you're starting to catch on. We really are lucky to be playing anywhere after Dec 3rd. I hope you and others (like thousands) are planning to go to Charlotte or Arizona and show up for the University. That would be a miracle!
  18. Mediocre attendance, mediocre offense, mediocre coaching ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE to BULLS Fans who have been there since day one.
  19. Take away that unexpected win over Louisville (Who would have ever thunk it) and we're back to 5 wins. Not to take anything away from that great win. But, without possibly the best win ever.. we're not bowl eligible
  20. "Deserve" may not be the issue this year if there are only 4 teams for 4 guaranteed spots. I guess I meant why would any Bowl sponsor WANT USF?
  21. TRipleB must be satisfied with mediocrity.
  22. USF does not travel. Mark my words. USF fans will not show up. The AD will have to buy up the tix and hope they can re-market them to us "fans". It may cost USF to go bowling at this time in our young life as a D1a program.
