  1. This is absolutely essential yet actually quite common among the more successful football and basketball coaches.
  2. Well Rutgers has to get by Cincy, Syracuse and @ UVW to go undefeated. A real possibility. ANy respect for an undefeated Big East School?
  3. Actually, I have been thinking along the same lines for some time. But, now I'll say it. This probably is my last year. After 10 years of FB and 5 years of BB, donations in the thousands, tickets coming out my ears, travel, heartache and disapoinment (embarassment?) I've got better uses for my money and more importantly, my time, than to participate in mediocrity year after year. I was there last night. I know it's early but, we just don't have what it takes to be competitive in BB. In football, we are basically a one man offense (currently hobbled).
  4. Sol played some quality minutes. 6 points and 3 boards. Wait till he learns some good NBA Defense and gets a few shot blocks. Seems like a great move for the Hawks and for ole Sol. He deserves it.
  5. Unless MG is hurt - THAT AIN"T GONNA HAPPEN. Let us hope and pray MG's foot heals and he is his old self. Seven wins this year would be a success. We really need MG Saturday!!
  6. I don't care if PJ takes a snap in his last game. I mean what could that hurt anyways?? I was mainly interested if MG is going to be our QB on Saturday. I've got lots of stuff to do besides tying up a half a day watching PJ at the helm .
  7. I thought that was a great quote.  Leavitt probably cuts his own hair. That would be my guess too..
  8. I'm still sticking with the International Bowl as my projection. These Northern schools and their fan bases will be vying for a Southern Bowl. They look at Birmingham as comparatively warm in January. The Intenational Bowl is the new kid on the block (Birmingham in one way or another has been in the Bowl business for years) so Toronto will get the leftovers. Even though Toronto is a classy city, it's still January and noboby gets excited about a cold weather vacation (without skiing). If we get a Bowl, we are destined to the Cold Weather Bowl. At least it's an indoor stadium. I guess a Bowl is a Bowl. Nice to get one two years in a row. Don't forget your Passports just in case you get snowed in on the 7th and can't leave until the 8th.
  9. When will we know if MG is healthy enough to start vs. Syracuse?
  10. PJ didn't save anything. Thankfully, we had the lead and our defense was on. But, of all the players to single out by name in the postgame radio interview, CJL mentioned only one name.. Pat Julmist. This guy really loves PJ. I don't know if it's just loyalty to his seniors or what. Who can figure.
  11. and is the only remaining undefeated Big East team then they go to the BCS Bowl. How does this scenario affect the Bowls?
  12. Beautiful Girl. Beautiful name. What a blessing for E.T. and the Mrs. I remember the feeling 25 years ago this Sunday. Hard to find the right words to express the joy..right E.T.?
  13. Well here we go again. No respect. Moved to the Noon timeslot. What does it mean? It means people are going to get up early just to make a noon kickoff. those of us in the east stands get the sun in our eyes. ANybody else playing at Noon? Noon Saturday is not good!
  14. Prediction: If USF becomes bowl eligible (which I think we will beat SU) and if we fall into one of the Big East bowls, that bowl will be the International Bowl in Toronto because it is new and I think it will be the last to pick, leaving USF as it's only option. If other Big East teams fill the Big East bowl slots, I can't imagine us getting any other bowl offer opportunity. So far as help from other conferences, we would be the last team selected for an out of conference or at-large bowl position. We don't travel. We have no name recognition and..well.. we're not very good. It's International or bust!!
  15. For all the world to see. I'm embarrassed by the lack of competitiveness tonight on a national stage. Not sure what to think about our chances at a bowl. The only good thing is we have a week off to recover, regroup and go after Pitt. They will be overconfident...have every reason to be..
  16. Rutgers has three road wins in a row. Pitt is quality win especially away. Could Rutgers be for real??
  17. It's an example of TRADITION. Both these service academies don't have to travel well. It's the Army, the Navy.. they have lots of active duty service members everywhere, not to mention veterans everywhere, who can't wait for the opportunity to see their team. If the bowl is in a large city or accessible to a nearby military installation, they will come. Even TV viewers will watch a little Army v. Navy game. It's tradition. This how Navy gets their bowls. Army? The same thing as long as they win enough games.
  18. and sometimes..like the first "drive" last Sat. Matt doesn't waste any time..he just takes it in from the 16 yard line.
  19. How big would a win vs. NC be? We beat NC on the road (our 2nd road win) puts us on the radar screen for a Bowl. It's also going provide the needed momentum to take a tough Cincy team away. Finally, Matt Grothe Freshman star power is going attract more media attention locally. That translates to more fans and people in the seats for our home games vs. Pitt and Syracuse.
  20. anybody..please any body but PJ. he's not learning anything. he's not here next year. please coach.
