  1. **** I have been worried about this ever since he signed with us. Hope he stays a Bull, but I can understand why he would go pro. Positive news is that we signed several very good DB's in this recruiting class.
  2. I cannot believe it. I guess the wedding gifts keep coming for you huh?
  3. Luckily for us 98% of the baseball season is NOT played in the cold.
  4. Wow, that's an awfully high ranking, no way we are #8. But this does show to all of those optimists on another thread that say they will only be satisfied if we go bowling this year just how hard it will be to do so.
  5. I am expecting us to go about 4-7 this year, so anything over that would be great. This is obviously a rebuilding year in a new big time conference so I will not be dissappointed with 4-7 or 5-6. That is of course assuming that it does appear some progress has been made. It is one thing to go 4-7 and see improvements on the offensive and defensive side of the ball as Bulls96go pointed out, as well as playcalling and cutting down on penalties. But it is another thing to go 4-7 when making similar mistakes as were made last year, and it just seems like more of the same. I guess to use a sports cliche I hope by the end of the season to see something to build on for '06 rather than more of the same with no light at the end of the tunnel.
  6. Embaressing. It must have been an early wedding present.
  7. Good post for the most part, however I dont believe that you can use this statement as an argument on either side. I could counter with "show me one respectable scientific link that disproves it." The fact is that scientific proof doesnt really exist because you cannot perform experiements on a human being. So someone saying steroids does improve eyesight is just as ignorant a statement as someone saying it doesn't improve eyesight. Both in fact have no idea or scientific data to back up thier claims. The only ones who would know for sure would be the steroid users themselves I presume, and I don't believe they will be telling us anytime soon.
  8. As for getting in shape I am not worried about Carlton Hill, have you seen a picture of this guy?!?! He is built like T.O. And I am sure Grothe is in good shape as well. I think it is more of a matter of learning the system rather than getting into shape for those 2 in particular.
  9. Any other Sarasota Bulls interested in organizing a watch party? I know a place that said they will hold it if we gather enough interest. So we need warm bodies. Otherwise I may head up to Tampa for a few myself.
  10. "I can't believe you choose that douchebag over me"
  11. Bullheaded, remember the South Park episode where they had the election for the school mascot and they had to pick between a Turd Sandwich and a Giant Douchebag. Well if that Turd Sandwich and that Giant Douchebag both put in for the OC position here at USF CJL would apparently back whichever one he could control and keep in his back pocket. And in turn Bien would be right there telling us how great this Giant Douchebag is and how we should give him a chance, and trust in CJL. Bien is a company man, dont let him get to you.

  13. Was Shaggy in attendance? Great news about Terrence Jones. The timing could work out great since I am assuming he will not be eligable until after this coming season, he will be a huge help in trying to fill Hall's shoes.
  14. Thier Defense is certainly better than SC. I am guessing the Penn State game will be similar to TCU in '03 when we lost 13-10. It will be a low scoring game with both offenses struggling.
  15. Mike you saying i'm not a "real fan" because mentioned the possibility not renewing season tickets in protest if you feel if is your only way to show displeasure with perfomance or coaching, whatever. That statement is about as stupid as someone saying you are not a "real fan" because you left and went to LSU. Or you are not a "real fan" because you arent an alumni. Or you are not a "real fan" because you dont travel to every road game. It is moronic. I support the team in the best way I know how, just as everyone else does, and if I happen to make a decision that you dont agree with it doesnt mean you are a better fan than I am, that is just idiotic. And Bien thanks for the dance, but watch the hand next time will ya.
  16. I missed the game because of work as well, but saw the highlights, didnt see any bean balls. Pedro apparently pitched very good, but the bullpen blew it for the Mets.
  17. I completely agree, I am not afraid of losing. I know there are going to be growing pains. But the problem is with Hobbie leaving it was the perfect time for us to begin hiring "the personel to compete at the BCS level". And if we had dont that and gone 4-7 we could write if off as a growing year, something to improve on. But with Smith at the helm a 4-7 season seems like more of the same from last year. Which translates to more of the same the next year. I guess to simplify with Smith as OC it means no light at the end of the tunnel, with a qualified hire it means there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The debate could be all for nothing, maybe Smith does well, but for now its more of a state of mind issue I guess.
  18. We can call him the interum OC because he may get nervous. Give me a break. He is an adult, he doesnt need to be coddled. You name him "interum" and if he does a good job, then after the season you promote him permanently. If not you look for the replacement you were unable to look for originally due to time restraints. It would seem to me if he is a good coach and capable of running the offense then he should be able to rise to the occassion.
  19. I agree Jim, we dont know what went on behind the scenes, maybe we got stuck with Smith due to the timing of Hobbie leaving and Franks turning the job down. But I still believe that if this was the case, Smith should have been named the interum OC and we could have conducted a search at the end of this coming season when there will be plenty of candidates to choose from. There is never a shortage of coaching moves in the off-season. Is there any word on the QB coaching position? I am assuming Smith will not continue on as the QB coach, who will be taking over?
  20. Bien if you had your way, Hobbie would still be the OC, PJ will be starting this season, and we will forever run the spread offense. So your calling others ignorant is rich... And what general facts are you claiming were simply rebuffed? The two issues of debate are 1) was Rod Smith a poor choice for OC and 2) if it turns out he is a poor choice this coming year and CJL refuses to make a move will the possibilty of not renewing season tickets come into play. These are both matters of opinion on both sides of the debate, what "general facts" were brought into this? Does MikeB's "definition" of a "real fan" pass as fact now?
