  1. I'll swing by the cage at the end of the season. Per win:
  2. How would something like that impact season ticket sales? I just don't see the independent route as beneficial. We ain't Notre Dame and Army, and I don't think Uconn & Umass are what we would embrace as role models.
  3. And our good friends in Charlotte got a little spotlight, chat about the nuevo jefe Biff Poggi from Pat McAfee.
  4. Again...a quadrillion times yes - they're not paying $300M to exit the ACC. They're stuck, up to their collective neck in the GOR quicksand. And once that expires or a better attorney turns the screw - they are out the door. They will not hang around the ACC for the 'merit based pay system'. Comparing the ACC and XII is a case of six of one, half a dozen of another - at this instant in time.
  5. and a debt of gratitude for that position is owed to Florida State and Clemson. Remove them from the equation, and the scales might balance.
  6. I think this would be a good time to distance ourselves from the thinking that somehow the AAU is related to the football revenue stream. What matters is what happens on Saturdays in the fall. Does the AAU make Rice, Tulane, and U of SF oh-so-desirable compared to 'Noles & Tigers? If the B1G had the option to take two teams from the aforementioned, who do you think would get the call? The whole 'but they're not an AAU school' means nothing when it comes to the college football industry.
  7. In the short term, uneven distribution would temporarily placate - not completely satisfy - FSU & Clemson. The ACC is, not unlike the PAC 12 was, on the clock. FSU, Clemson, probably UNC & UVA are all casting their eyes towards the door. The staff meeting is far from over.
  8. Only one rea$on. It's not like the ACC has miracled itself into relevance. Football wise, both Clemson & FSU want out as a means of survival and increased revenue - acting in what is best for their individual schools. Assuming that that ACC implodes in the future - well, CalFord & SMU are once again on the shifting sand. Once Clemson & FSU - at minimum - depart for one of the P-conferences, the ACC's life raft will be Notre Dame, assuming of course that the Irish do go the ACC route. If ND goes the B1G route - it only hastens the ACC demise, regardless of the west coast footprint. Think of CalFord & SMU as a pre-emptive backfill for when FSU, Clemson, Carolina & Virginia pack their bags.
  9. Correct, but my point being our IAA days. I think it was '98 when we split between The Big Sombrero & RayJ.
  10. Well, what if - just throwing it out there - App State and friends were not interested in joining the AAC, for some reason or other. Hmmmm...
  11. Has Appalachian State expressed interest in leaving the Sun Belt? The reason I ask is it looks like the Sun Belt is pretty happy with their regional configuration. Some of that 'big fish small pond' sort of thinking might be beneficial.
  12. Gotta remember, there are some people who weren't in the Big Sombrero back in '97~'99. That's ancient history. Might have glossed over that IAA era, but for those of us who were living it, we were very much interested in heading over to 1A land and pining for a conference - any conference - enough of Valparaiso and Hofstra ().
  13. What is this fascination with Appalachian State University? And Marshall University? Why not invite Coastal Carolina, or James Madison? Why say such a thing? 'Cause my nieces went there. That's it. That's where my interest in adding for sake of adding comes to an abrupt end.
  14. You sure? 'cause I have them via Sling TV sports package. https://www.sling.com/channels/pac-12
  15. @Bull Matrix => Hopefully USF will be the top team in Florida by the time big ten goes after the Florida area and three weeks later, the sun will have exhausted its supply of hydrogen and mushroom into a red giant before becoming a white dwarf, eliminating any hope of a playoff berth. That's just according to NASA's strength of schedule assessments. And a lot of the kids at NASA came from AAU schools, so ...
  16. Remind me, again...what song is our good friend Jeff Spicoli singing?
  17. Which is very odd, since I spent considerable time yesterday looking for that video on YouTube.
  18. Well, why use the word 'westward' if it has no meaning? Or is this just a polite way of saying, 'Hey, ditch that CalFord idea. Not happening. And no, we're not interested in the San Diego State Aztecs or the University of California Santa Cruz Banana Slugs or the University of California Irvine Anteaters. No Cali, Cali ! Got it? Are we clear, Mister Spicoli?"
  19. It is impossible - and I have tried - for me to see the WKU Hilltopper and NOT have the word POLYP leap into my noggin.
  20. Well, based on that sample, it would appear to be NOT student seating...phrasing it politely.
  21. No worky-worky on Wednesday. So if you wanna shop for a brand-new Volvo or Polestar in Tampa, or a VW in Lakeland...gonna have to postpone the trip.
  22. Hmmmm...pre-season hype. Not very high, subjectively speaking. Vegas has the O/U @ 4.5, which - if it comes to fruition - would be winning 1/3 of our games. Very, very good coming of the abysmal previous four years. But it's still under .500. Excitement over a new coach, maybe to a degree, but I would prefer the term 'hopeful' more so than excited. I don't know that I'd rate this season's hype much above 5 on the above scale. The reason I say that is because if we look back at the level of hype associated with '01 and getting out of 1-AA play, then look at '05 playing the Big East schools, I think the hype level was greater for those sorts of milestones. As it is now, truthfully, similar to where we were in the '19-'20 transition: previous losing season, new coach. Seen this movie before. Hopefully they've changed the ending.
