Men's Basketball Turning a Corner?

Not so sure they turned the Corner they beat a Mid major with a losing record on the road, gave up a six point lead with 40 seconds to play and needed a miraculous buzzer beater to win if they go to overtime there’s a very good shot they lose as the momentum was not on their side In Crunch time they missed free throws & committed a stupid foul That gave their opp. A three point play coaching and execution still a major problem -
If he brings passion and discipline to this team And he hires some coaches that can actually coach especially on defense. He will have some success. listening to him and reading about him makes me believe he will be significantly tougher than Jeff Scott was. because of that the team Will be better prepared. That alone I believe will reduce injuries and make them more competitive especially at key times of the game. That was One of the more critical shortfalls of the Jeff Scott Era. I’m trying to remember if They ever made play when the Game is on the line. I for one I’m excited to see what he can put together I am rooting big-time for him because success for him means success for USF.

WTF This has to be one off negative threads I’ve read in a long time. Sanders was an extreme long shot to come here I’m happy they didn’t get Chadwell would I be happy with someone like Alan from Indiana yes. But this guy is young and hungry & USF has a lot of talent even on the defense. They were so horribly coached you would never know it And I’m not sure Jeff Scott was tough enough. Just listening to his first statement talking about accountability gives me hope. Let’s see what happens with recruiting & who he brings in as coaches. USF needs discipline & toughness that comes from a head coach let’s see what happens Before you jump out the window

All the speculation is crazy. If Mike Kelly had picked a coach who is not involved in a big game on Saturday he would’ve named them. Which means one of two things the coach that he has Chosen is Coaching a game on Saturday And they are waiting to announce. Or which I believe is unlikely he doesn’t have anybody in line and they’re still working to try to find someone

I disagree they got the turnover on the 50 yard line with five minutes to play in the game 2 first downs and it could be over and the coaching staff for USF felt confident with three runs up the middle and a punt that is absolutely unforgivable on a 1 and 10 team

Amazing they had a chance to win this game and USF call those 3 plays after the fumble what were they even thinking about not trying to win the game there they deserve to lose this game typical of the season and coaching

At least nobody’s watching it with Notre Dame USC on also at the same time

They had that play defended a defender #39 went inside shoulder when the guys running outside complete breakdown who is teaching these people how to play defense

I argue that the covert is not fair they are just coached poorly really poorly

Also they need something really great to happen or this is going to go downhill in a hurry bad teanms usually give up that could be the case here hopefully not.

This is really amazing They just not coached well on defense there is there’s no other explanation for it. My vocabulary isn’t big enough to say how incredibly badly coached USF is

They can’t make Any offensive mistakes it this needs to be a perfect game and it’s not so far doesn’t look good

I agree the talent level isn’t where it needs to be and their probably not as fast as they should be. But they are athletes and with good coaching they should be able to have them in been in position to make plays. If you watch they make mistakes not only coverage but taking proper angles, not setting the edge, linebackers over running the running lanes Poor tackling and not being aggressive enough. they are almost always outmanned on receiver screens. THATS ON THE SCHEME & COACHING Not to mention that every blitz comes from the edge and it’s almost always telegraphed.

The defense is worse than poor. If they were just poor it would be an improvement. I don’t remember them playing two consecutive series of even good defensive football let alone a whole quarter or half.

MK Need to make this hire sooner rather than later and hopefully give that coach a chance to talk to these players so that anybody with an once of talent might decide to stay. there’s no way these players could be having fun playing in this system

Floodgates are open Not enough words to express how unbelievably bad USF defense is. You would figure that they would get sick and tired and at least fight instead of being embarrassed

So sad watching how bad teams just play bad.At 69 watched a lot of football in my life I can’t think Of watching any team so badly out of position on defense as this one. And that shoots himself in the foot more than this one. that’s all coaching and discipline. I don’t care what Mike Kelly does but he better hire a coach that is tough and disciplined and knows how to coach. This is just stupid you can feel the floodgates opening
