If we don't find a QB this year, the year is another failure.

Yep- I'll give you that one. Our QB has to be a given this year. 2nd year and 3rd year guys who should be at a higher level by now. McC should have really shined in the Spring game but kinda B- C+ performance. Marsh was better. Hoping CTrk works some magic on these guys. Since I'm "hoping", I hope one of the freshmen-Smith or Brown is a super stud.

Not a generational thing. Too easy to blame the young ones. It's a USF cultural problem, which is a bit difficult to define.

I know plenty of pre-1997 alumni that graduated from USF and have no interest in supporting their alma mater. They'd rather purchase season tix to schools north of us.

Eh, I'll give you some of that one but, the young ones have other interests now that preoccupy them. So yes, some its generational. All this has been beat around in prior discussions. Easy to blame the university and, justifiable in some sense. It takes a Pres, AD, Board and even some of the educational staff to try to fire up the young'uns. We will know more when we win...Lots of folks jump on board of a winner. Time will tell. I like seeing USF grads return to take positions at the university I think that helps provide roots.

I can certainly understand your nephew feeling the way he does since the team didn't perform well during his time attending USF. However, that mentality is the exact reason why we'll not improve as quickly as we all want the program to. Rooting for the other the opponent is just sacrilegious to me.

I hope that he understand down the road how much financial support will help us move forward to where we aspire to get to.

I wish he was the only one of the new usf gen folks that feels that way but, there seems to be a large % that just have no interest. All of us on here mainly come from the time when there was no USF football so we were eager to see it get started and supportive. Different mind set from prior generations. Always tough to digest when we see other teams w/ packed stands. Tough to pass the torch if there isnt anyone that wants to grab it. Hopefully, it will change-Hopefully we will start winning again could help??

  4. The past seasons have not been very stimulating for fans unless you take into consideration: the feeling of being pissed off. So oddly, this movie line applies: "If you build it, they will come" Corny as it might sound it rings true. IF we start to have a winner. IF we start to be recognized for being on the rise instead of decline. IF we build winning seasons and re-spread the USF brand via bowl appearances. IF we maintain a constant athletic department. You know people will start to trickle back to games. Students? That's an entirely diff animal in this day and age...

Agree, if there are still doubts about Timmy, you have your answer about him. Teams that have multiple QB’s have zero QB’s. We don’t even need a semi-great QB, if your team is built right, give me a Brad Johnson type where they manage the game and not turn the ball over. In college ball, he just needs to be able to run and not turn the ball over. I’m all about giving CJS another 3 years, BUT, if this continues, it has the smell of Jon Gruden all over it (blaming lack of QB for failures when the HC is responsible for finding a QB). At this point let’s go full on Georgia Tech or Army and just run the option. I can not believe we STILL don’t have a capable starting QB.

Yeah, I liked Brad Johnson he was solid. Yes, get what your saying. Maybe this CTrk will make a difference.

And that issue goes well beyond USF Athletics. There is blame from the on campus administration and the alumni association as well.

Obviously, you and I and others came away from USF with a feeling of pride and wanting to be a part of the university. Could be old time grads vs recent ones?? Some reason some people care about USF and some people just move on and leave it behind them-its just a framed diploma on the wall or--in the drawer.

Did anyone read the one comment on the article? It had to come from a UCF grad...

    He did on that one.

I've heard too many times about who we now play as a the reason why people do not attend the way they used to.

Here is good example(at least for me). My nephew is a USF grad about 3 years ago. He is a football fan however, he has only been around for the losing years. Believe it or not it embarrasses him. So, he roots for other teams. He is respectful of how we feel about USF and football but he has no interest. I've tried to get him to join the Alumni Assoc and Bulls Club but-no interest. And yes, he is of that new species of young person-tough to get them interested in anything but social media and other bs. I've mentioned on here before how I have run into multiple alumni in FL and NC who have no interest in being connected to USF.

Idk strikes me as the kind of dude/politician who would work at USF and then send his kids to UT because it's private.

Though I do appreciate his OCS-push efforts big time. If he gets this done cleanly, he could run for mayor of Tampa - and then bigger aspirations - no problem.

Tough to know his aspirations. We are listening to his recent comments, and all seems pretty good. It will be interesting to see how this pans out in the long term. I'm at an age now where it's kinda year to year.  Long-term stuff years away, tough to get all excited about it. Would be nice to see an OCS in a few years but hell- I'll just go for winning 7-8-9 games currently.

Screwing at USF? He was the face of the team in all media and pre season hype. We’ve seen this before…before…. Like a bad dream. Need another QF dare I say there is another QF. Cade had his moment and whiffed dunno why but whiffed.

Yes, yes and yes. However, tough for a QB in early games to show what he has when the O line was like a sieve.

  11. Interesting guy. Obviously, he is a go-getter and no stranger to success. Not a USF Alum but has a business in Tampa and has the FL gov connections. He has taken an interest in USF and maybe he is the guy who can get the OCS going towards reality. Be interesting if he has any kids near college age??( poss all too young) If they came to USF that would be the kicker. With or w/o hopefully he will keep leaning on that Huge Square Sided Boulder and get it to roll. Nice to have someone in the Tampa biz community that is interested in USF

Where is that moving goal post jpg?  Thought we were talking about hiring him as a head coach. Bringing him in as an assistant would be something to think about.

Dont know about zero college HC/AsstC resume? He is an ex-player, a USF guy, local. Kinda like when WT brought in Joe Kinnan. He was an experienced successful HS coach and very game/player savvy. Jumping on this guy to replace BG?? He would have to be a basketball genius. Big difference in college vs high school. Assistant???

  13. Marsh? I see a Doug Williams type of QB. Big, strong and has some pretty good moves. If he has the talent and attitude CTrk might just make a QB out of him. Otherwise, WE NEED AN O LINE! Big, strong and talented to give whatever QB some time to develop the play especially, if they need a little more time to read the field at times. We shall see what we shall see come Fall.

Maybe a QB controversy is a good thing.  Last year Cade Fortin was the clear #1 coming out of spring and in to summer and fall and that lasted about a quarter and a half before he face planted.

The thing I would like to see re: Fortin, see him go excel somewhere else and be successful. I think he got a screwing at USF. Think he went to Syracuse??
