  1. "It’s hard to imagine how good South Florida junior lefthander Shane McClanahan could be when he fully develops his secondary stuff. We’ve marveled at McClanahan’s fastball velocity over the past year. As we saw Friday night in USF’s 9-6 win over Houston, he holds his velocity quite well. He was up to 97 in the early innings against the Cougars, and was still hitting 95 on the radar gun as he eclipsed the 100-pitch mark. But while that fastball is a special pitch for McClanahan, he knows he needs to continue to develop his secondary offerings if the Bulls want to make noise at the end of this season, and if he wants to make a quick move through the professional ranks to the big leagues." More here, ( must pay for complete article )
  2. I wasn’t able to watch tonight but seems like we dominated most of the night. Great win. Just got to finish off the series.
  3. To me, the fact that their Sunday Starter is TBD, says a lot.
  4. Pretty sure Baseaball/Softball would have a real issue with that. I'm sure they already feel like football gets bigger piece of the pie as is.
  5. One week after USF's men secured a verbal commitment from 6-foot-10 Casper (Wyo.) College standout Antun Maricevic, the Bulls are getting a visit from another heralded junior college prospect. This time, it's a local. Former Chamberlain High star Rashawn Fredericks, who averaged a double double each of the last two seasons at Motlow State Community College in Tullahoma, Tenn., confirmed he's visiting this weekend. The NCAA's spring signing period for basketball begins Wednesday. Full article here:
  6. No, but the athletic department shouldn’t cater to students and donors before the athletes. IFP is a need, OCS would be nice.
  7. Seeing how that dropped from 18-19 to 7, he either got hurt, or was removed.
  8. Yeah, Just one box of a long check list. But I do agree with the article's point of IPF>OCS.
  9. Better players = Good TV Good TV = bigger TV contracts Bigger tv contracts= a better bottom line for everyone. Its not exactly an A = B situation, but an IPF would do something in terms of getting into a better conference. Considering there inst much that really can be done on our part to get in to the P5, an IPF is something at the very least. The same can be said for a OCS, but to me, a facility that you would use almost everyday vs something you would play in 6-8 times a year would go farther.
  10. Keep up with the series in the USF Baseball Fan Club here: Also, you can catch up on all AAC baseball news from this week.
  11. Houston's (16-9, 3-0) pitching staff has thrown three complete games, led by LHP Trey Cumbie, who tossed his second straight complete game shutout in the team's conference opener against Memphis. LHP Aaron Fletcher followed with another complete game shutout in Game 2, recording a career-high nine strikeouts as the team clinched the series. Houston swept the conference's weekly awards with Fletcher and 3B Jared Triolo earning the honors. After a midweek loss to Rice, the Cougars will look to bounce back at Cincinnati. The Bearcats (10-12, 1-2) are coming off a 1-0 win over Tulane last Sunday.USF (18-8, 2-1) started conference play with a series win over UConn and leads the league in runs, scoring, hits, doubles, triples, slugging percentage and batting average. The Bulls average a nation-leading 2.92 doubles per game and have hit 76 doubles this season. 3B David Villar has hit 13 doubles this year, which rank fourth in the NCAA. LHP Shane McClanahan ranks second in the nation with 61 strikeouts. USF will host Tulane over the weekend. http://theamerican.org/news/2018/3/28/baseball-continues-conference-play.aspx
  12. No mid-week Bulls games this week but here are the highlights from around the conference HighlightsThe American went 4-3 in this week’s midweek nonconference action, as No. 11 ECU and No. 22 Wichita each picked up Wednesday night wins. 14. the IPF is really just a recruiting tool. The idea is that it will bring better players and that will bring more P5 recognition.
  15. "Two series into conference play, USF softball sits atop the AAC with a 5-1 record. Regardless of where the Bulls finish the regular season, however, they’ll enjoy a home-field advantage for the AAC Tournament. The AAC announced Tuesday that the USF Softball Stadium will host the conference tournament, which will feature eight teams and be played during the weekend of May 10-12." Full Article Here: http://www.usforacle.com/news/view.php/1033301/AAC-announces-USF-Softball-Stadium-as-ho I couldn't think of a better facility to host the tournament. Go bulls!
  16. "The mini-exodus in the USF men's basketball program continued — and presumably, concluded — with Wednesday's announcement that assistant Chad Dollar is joining Tom Crean's staff at Georgia." Full article here: http://www.tampabay.com/sports/usf-bulls/2018/04/04/usf-assistant-chad-dollar-leaving-for-georgia/
  17. "It seems that USF’s focus for its social media accounts, especially on Twitter, is simply to tweet out news and keep it largely at that, with very few exceptions. It doesn’t have to be that way. There is room for both news and personality." Full article here: http://www.usforacle.com/news/view.php/1033327/Commentary-USF-Athletics-social-media-pr Would USF benefit from more personality coming form it's social media page? or would this be to risky in this PC society?
  18. "An on-campus football stadium would be fun, but it’s not what USF football needs right now. Instead, the program needs funding for its indoor practice facility. One of USF football’s two losses in 2017 was to Houston on Oct. 28. Houston finished construction on its $20 million indoor football facility that same month. The Bulls also lost to in-state rival UCF, which opened its indoor facility in 2005. USF strives to be a Power-Five team, but currently lacks the facilities to do so. Currently, 62 of 65 Power-Five schools have indoor practice facilities. An indoor practice facility will not automatically make USF a national title contender, but it’s a step in the right direction — more so than an on-campus stadium." Full Article here: http://www.usforacle.com/news/view.php/1033325/On-campus-stadium-should-not-be-USF-Athl so does an OCS or IPF do more to get us in the P5?
  19. The masters is here, Who do you think will take the jacket. I think its DJ's year but I always pull for the Lefties, (Phil and Bubba). https://www.masters.com/en_US/index.html
  20. I believe I saw on our site, that Sunday is supposed to be on FB. I'm not sure about Fri, and Sat. http://gousfbulls.com/schedule.aspx?path=baseball
  21. Shane’s starts haven’t really panned out well overall. Some of it his fault, some of it not. His numbers make him hard to fault.
