  1. Phillips just had a HR robbed on what could be the play of the year.
  2. We knocked out their starter early. Their bullpen will have to work. Could help us on Sunday.
  3. the HR was a good AB. He battled and then went down and then squared up up a good pitch down in the zone.
  4. I know SM is a top MLB prospect and all but, is there a chance that we would be better with Pete in the Friday night role? He is more likely to work deep into games. Three of SM's last four games have not been very good, while PS hasn't allowed more 3 ERs since UNC. 5. We are 9-4 against them in baseball from 2015- present. including a series sweep last season. Does he really have baseball yet? They haven't finished anything. Still a lot of baseball to play even beyond this weekend.
  6. "The USF Bulls had arguably the best season in their program’s history under Charlie Strong in 2017. Can they build on that in 2018? The Rock Riley Show gets it straight from the source, asking coach Charlie Strong himself about the Bulls as they come into their Spring game." I don't know how I feel about the bolded part.
  7. yeah, this is a tough stretch for us. Not getting easier from here
  8. The Bucs held their annual local predraft workout, with 30 prospects who played at area colleges and high schools working out for the team, just two weeks before the NFL draft. While the Bucs don't likely need a quarterback with three under contract for 2018, there were four in attendance Thursday — USF's Quinton Flowers, Marshall's Chase Litton (Wharton), Florida's Malik Zaire and Florida International's Alex McGough (Gaither). Nearly half the contingent came from USF — Flowers, DE Mike Love, DTs Deadrin Senat and Bruce Hector (Robinson), RBs Darius Tice and D'Ernest Johnson, CBs Deatrick Nichols, Devin Abraham (East Lake) and Tajee Fullwood (Tampa Bay Tech), LB Auggie Sanchez, Gs Cameron Ruff (Jesuit) and Jeremy Hall and P Jonathan Hernandez. full article
  9. USF has honored former quarterback Quinton Flowers with one of its most prestigious awards. The Bulls' record-setter and resident inspirational tale was presented the Champions Award during the school's annual Student Success Awards ceremony on Thursday. The Champions Award honors "individual faculty, staff, and students who have gone far and above the call of duty to inspire others to excellence in the Student Success movement."- TBO Full Article
  10. things we expect to see 1. A lot of throws to USF veteran Mitch Wilcox. The Bulls' only tight end with college game experience, Wilcox by many accounts has been USF's most prolific pass catcher this spring. In one recent practice, he had four touchdown receptions in 11-on-11 work, according to USF sports-information officials who were observing. things we won’t see 1. A starting quarterback named. Unless one guy absolutely goes off the chain, we just don't see this happening. And why should it? This is one highly controlled, compressed intrasquad practice. Ensuing summer workouts, and sweltering preseason camps, could be far greater determinants of who's most capable of leading these teams. 4. USF's starting kicker in '18? To this point, walk-ons Jake Vivonetto and Marco Salani, and new P Trent Schneider (who enrolled in January) have competed at kicker, albeit to mixed reviews. Wouldn't shock us if someone else is brought on board (perhaps through an open tryout) to intensify the battle. Springing forward (Players poised to break through) RB Elijah Mack, USF. After taking only three handoffs last season, this 6-foot, 220-pound redshirt sophomore (no relation to Marlon) has asserted himself as a serious threat to Florida transfer Jordan Cronkrite for the No. 1 job. On Wednesday, Bulls coach Charlie Strong told WDAE's morning hosts that Mack has "separated" himself. Full article:
  11. He has been pretty good. 20 plus years, 12, 40 or more win teams, 12 NCAA appearances, and 8 teams ending ranked in the top 25. Not bad for coaching here. from a top talent prospect perspective, you can play for coach Eriksen and Team USA, and still play for UF or any of those big Pac12 schools. Even team USA fights P5 bias. However, the one time he did get a local star to stay, they went to OKC. UF and FSU and hard to compete with recruiting wise.
  12. ECU is a serious Omaha contender. Stealing one would be good and winning the series would be great. We need to make a run after this weekend though.
  13. Really need a series win here, but I would accept grabbing one. just can't really expect more. ECU is a legit Omaha team.
  14. Where does Eriksen land on your list on all-time coaches at USF. Has anyone done more in their given sport?

  16. OKLAHOMA CITY (April 9, 2018) – USF head coach Ken Eriksen will lead the WBSC World Championship roster in 2018, USA Softball, the National Governing Body of Softball in the United States, announced. Eriksen will lead his team as it competes in tour stops and international competitions. He will be joined by Howard Dobson (Baton Rouge, La./assistant coach at LSU) and Heather Tarr (Redmond, Wash./head coach at Washington). All three return to the WNT program after guiding the U.S. to the Gold at last year's Pan American Championship in the Dominican Republic. A highlight of his Team USA coaching resume includes being an assistant coach in the 2003 Pan Am Games which won Gold and going on to coach at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens where the U.S. Olympic Softball Team would put on one of the most dominant performances in Olympic history. Eriksen tacked on another Gold Medal as an assistant coach at the WBSC Championship in Caracas, Venezuela. In 2011, Eriksen took over the Women's National Team Program and ushered in a new era of USA Softball with a roster comprised of international rookies. Eriksen continued the legacy established before him, leading a strong U.S. roster which produced a Gold Medal at the 2011 Pan Am Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. In his tenure with the Women's National Team Program, Eriksen has amassed two WBSC World Championships Silver Medals before reclaiming the Gold at the 2016 WBSC World Championship in Surrey, B.C., Canada. He also boasts four World Cup of Softball titles and a Silver Medal from the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Full Article:
  17. MVS doing great work in the community. "With each of his 119 collegiate catches, the irony grew a bit more glaring. At least it did to those who truly know his heritage, and his heart." "Marquez Valdes-Scantling, the former USF wideout who appears destined to earn a comfortable living as a receiver, prefers to be a giver." "We're just fortunate to be blessed with the things that we have," said his father, Marcellus Scantling. "I learned it from my mother; my mother's always been a very giving person. She's always taught us to give … and that's just how we've been raised. It's just natural." "More specifically, he ran to the down and out. Before opening one gift, Valdes-Scantling, his folks and a couple of buddies loaded the bed of Marcellus' silver Nissan Titan with roughly 60 donated duffel bags filled with blankets, toiletry items, socks, hand sanitizer and the like." 18. "TAMPA (FOX 13) - Mia Fung was a star catcher at Strawberry Crest. Now she's making a name for herself at the collegiate level - at the University of South Florida. Fung blends power at the plate with speed on the bases. USF head coach Ken Eriksen grins as he describes Mia's skill set. "She's a freak of nature," he said." "Productive in both the power and speed categories; her six home runs rank second on the team, and her six stolen bases in six tries currently ranks third." Full article here:
