  1. The NCAA Division I Council on Wednesday announced it has adopted some sweeping legislative proposals, ranging from changes to the recruiting calendar to finally allowing teams the ability to play fall exhibition games without them counting against the 56-game spring schedule. At least for coaches, the biggest story stemming from the vote involves the recruiting calendar. Currently, prospective recruits can take unofficial visits anytime they want. Are you a 12-year-old who wants to take an unofficial visit to Texas? No problem. Furthermore, currently, a high school prospect can’t take an official visit to a school until the beginning of classes their senior year. Those two rules are changing, effective the next academic year. How so, you ask? With the adopted legislation, prospects may now take official visits as early as September 1 of their junior season. Several coaches and baseball administrators I’ve spoken with over the past few months preferred the date stay during a prospect’s senior season. Full article
  2. Saban's response "I think we all want the same thing for all players that compete on our team, regardless of the position," Saban said. "And even though there's going to be a significant effort on a lot of folks' part -- none in this room, obviously -- who want to make this a very public thing, it's going to be handled in a very private manner." Saban said Hurts has had a good spring in which he has seen a "significant amount of improvement." "But I think at the end of the day everybody has career decisions that they'll have to make," Saban said. "Nobody knows what the outcome of the situation will bring for us. We don't want any players not to be able to fulfill their goals and aspirations in our program here. We don't want that for any of our players."
  3. For real though, I used to be harsh on Jk but decided to lighten my stance against him as I realized that his hands might be tied on some things, but as a beat writer for a school how does the biggest offensive threat for the baseball team get suspended for five games and you not have something on it?
  4. The Bulls also lead the AAC in hits (385), runs (249), RBIs (225), doubles (98), triples (14) and total bases (604). It ranks fourth in the league with 31 home runs, but junior 1B Joe Genord is tied for second individually with nine. "We've got a veteran group," first-year coach Billy Mohl said after Tuesday's 7-1 home triumph against North Florida. "They're all juniors in our lineup, that's what we expect of them. Coach (Chuck) Jeroloman and Coach (Chris) Cates have done an unbelievable job with our hitters." Full article
  5. "Babers raved about Culpepper's positive attitude, on and off the field, before and after the diagnosis. Culpepper is in New York City getting treatment, but he has also been splitting time in Tampa. Babers said Culpepper's prognosis is good, and he could eventually return to football, once the doctors clear him." http://www.tampabay.com/sports/high-schools/2018/04/19/plant-alumnus-rex-culpepper-doing-well-in-second-chemo-round-at-syracuse/ Hoping for continued progress towards recovery.
  6. Oracle Preview "On paper, the two teams have almost identical records. The Bulls are 19-7 at home while the Knights are 6-6 while traveling. In a rivalry series, though, anything can happen."
  7. TAMPA — His collection of skills seems to ooze NFL draft jargon: hip swivel, burst, agility, leverage, active hands. Over the past three or four months, most — or all — of these attributes have been affixed to USF defensive lineman Bruce Hector. "Most people talk to me about my athleticism," the former Robinson High three-sport athlete said. "My hands, quick feet, good hips. My ability to get upfield — when they watch that on film they like that." To be sure, the Bulls' 2017 sacks leader (seven) is neither the fastest or even fiercest of his team's draft prospects. Most would agree those titles belong to wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling and fellow interior defensive lineman Deadrin Senat, respectively. But consider how Hector lined up at nose tackle and three-technique in the Bulls' four-man front. Ask his high school basketball coach about his gracefulness — girth aside — on the basketball court. Let his position coach — also Robinson's wrestling coach — tell you what a force of nature he could've been on the mat. One might come away convinced that pound for pound, Hector could be the best overall athlete of USF's 2018 prospects. Full Article, Tampa Bay Times Does Bruce go first for the Bulls?
  8. this would make me incrediably wrong, but its such a Jets move, im not even mad. Mayfield to Jets Done deal
  9. Hurts will leave if he doesn't win job. "Coach Saban's job is to do what's best for his team. I have no problem with that," Averion Hurts said. "My job is to do what's best for Jalen—and make no mistake, Jalen is a quarterback, and he wants to play quarterback. He loves Alabama, loves Coach Saban and everything about that place. But he wants to play, and he will play…" Averion stops mid-sentence because the idea of his son not playing for Alabama isn't one he takes lightly. What if Jalen doesn't win the job, he is asked? He shakes his head slowly, answers begrudgingly. "Well, he'd be the biggest free agent in college football history." No chance he comes to USF but who would be set to gain if he leaves? I kinda see him in burnt orange.

  11. Just wow. I mean wouldn’t you think if footbal declines the two sports that are set to benefit the most are baseball and basketball, right?
  12. that is funny. I can't see the comments section for some reason. Was the person saying we should build another Soccer stadium or that we should had built a football stadium instead of soccer stadium?
  13. I got an email yesterday from the Alumni association about it, but it went straight to my promotions folder.
  14. A little off topic but his anger might come to nothing. I've been reading that his name has been on the minds of a few big schools that will be in the market. He could be a SEC coach when we play ECU next season.
  15. oh I see, well they project our conference as wide open. Everyone but Memphis is separated by a weekend series, I think most pundits are predicting ECU and WSU to battle it out in the end just based on their overall body of work. They do have the second most wins in the conference.
  16. Shazier is the only person I can think of that has broken their neck in the last 15 years that wasn't off kickoff, but there is probably a few i'm missing
  17. Well, UCf has been hanging around that 25-30 spot too. A series win against us would probably put them back in. i would be willing to say the winner of this weekend will find a spot somewhere between 20-25.
