Because UCF's deal is just for their stadium rights. The ideal i pitched there would be stadium rights + bowl game rights. UCF gets around 1.8 million for their stadium naming rights. Outback paid 8 million a year to sponsor the Outback bowl. The idea would be pitching Outback that they can pay less than 50% of what they paid for the Outback bowl and still have a bowl game in the same city, but also have the name of the stadium.

Context is key. Willie was recruiting with the Big East still fresh on everyones mind. Charlie Strong after year 1 was recruiting to a team that had just won 28 of their last 34 games. Golesh is recruiting to a team that has won 8 of its last 52 games, and play in a G5 conference that just got weaker. All that considered his 2024 class being better than an average Charlie Strong class so far is a great sign.

They'll be better just because they can't really be worse. For Jeff Scott's 3 years they let up 38.6 PPG and were a bottom 10 defense. If they just had the 100th best defense that would be around 30 PPG. Do that and I'll be happy with Golesh's year 1 efforts on that side of the ball. I think that could get us 5-6 wins

I could see us have shade around a horseshoe shape, and then when its time to expand do like Louisville and just add an entire endzone section to that open area.

Lot of people pitch Publix as the perfect stadium sponsor, I still think its Outback. They cancelled their bowl subscription because it was 8 million a year for 1 game a year. (this happened right after our stadium was announced, coincidence? probably) We could pitch them on just paying around 3.5-4 million a year and be the first name to ever be attached to this stadium. Probably going to be shaped like a bowl so they can just call it "The Outback Bowl" and there's already the name recognition. UCF gets under 2 million a year for their stadium, so for that price we'd also have to include letting them host a bowl game in our stadium. But again, in the same city under the same name the bowl would immediately hold some name recognition. 50% of the cost and they just make the bowl game smaller in prestige but in the same city, and get a stadium named after them year round.

this dude has been in a back and forth with Baker on twitter about how the Big 12 was willing to add 6 teams back in 2021 but only 4 fit the profile and they told USF and Memphis to go fix their facilities then they'll get in. He quote tweets some tweets from 2 years ago saying the same thing and now USF and Memphis have both approved stadium projects so who knows

idk FAU is a pretty trash team to be in the top 6 of a conference. They just won 5 games three years in a row in a league worse than the AAC. Now they have to replace a QB who had 55 TD's and over 6000 yards with only 12 picks over 2 years, and they lose their best players on defense, but because they hire a coach that 10 other teams passed on they're supposed to be a year 1 success story?

1.) We have won 4 games in 3 years. "start" having a losing record would change things with attendance makes me think this person hasn't even glanced at our situation. We are at rock bottom with performance related attendance, especially considering its 30 minutes from campus 2.) We aren't even doing student fees to fund this stadium. I highly doubt we are going to charge $60 per game for students to attend the game if we aren't having them help fund it. This article feels like a hit piece but he got the weirdest sources and didn't have an editor to fact check anything. The times hating on USF is nothing new, but this is a new low in terms of just making up reasons to rain on a parade.

It mentions the projections are intentionally rosy, but if you look at the document attached to the agenda about the stadium study and the financials its made very clear that these are very conservative estimates on the revenue and projections.

its established academics are against spending on sports in general for universities so that has to be considered. But concern #1 in the doc makes no sense. 20.5-5.3 is 15.2 million, did he then subtract the money we aren't earning from Raymond James instead of adding it to get 13 million? The BOT agenda for approving the stadium next week mentioned the stadium will have the same style look as other buildings in the athletic department. Matt Baker from TBT also mentioned on twitter that renderings have been passed around in recent board meetings about the stadium. He's not sure how close to the official product they are but wouldn't be surprised if they released them at the meeting to officially approve the stadium
