  1. Totally ignoring his overall record to this point is not using logic or common sense. I'm not saying Jeff Scott should be fired, but it is not ridiculous for anyone to be questioning or not real confident that he's the guy for the job given his performance with Wins and Losses.
  2. Nice post, but the guy is paid $1.8 million a year. Him getting the team ready and prepared is doing what he's paid to do. Praising him for that, after a loss that moves him to 1-20 against FBS opponents makes it seem like this program has just lost it completely. Let's save the thanking for when we actually win a game. I am very pleased with how they played, but for the coach who's motto is "the best is the standard" don't think he needs props for a close loss. Hoping this is the beginning of some wins though.
  3. Obviously, he's taking the whole picture into consideration. If we lose to Louisville, Jeff Scott will be 1-21 against FBS opponents in his 3rd year. I would imagine that plays a large role in anyone believing he's not the answer and wouldn't think that's ridiculous at all.
  4. Wily Ol' veteran? I said he's a 5th year Junior which he is. He isn't a 19 year old kid who has barely played any college football. At this point I think we're going to have to run him into the ground to have success and pray for no injury. The throwing just isn't there.
  5. We have a 5th year Junior, Davey O'Brien watch list QB. That not being a completed pass is on Bohanon. I wish Bohanon made a decent throw. He hasn't shown the ability to hit a WR in stride. Even if it's only a half decent throw it's likely at worst a 40 yard gain and potentially ends that game.
  6. Jeff Scott is 1-20 against FBS opponents. When those numbers start to improve is when the complaining will get better.
  7. More than 1 thing can be true at once. The coaching staff did a very good job preparing the team and putting them in positions to make plays. The snaps absolutely killed them. What can also be true is why call a timeout with 15 seconds left in the half to attempt a 50 yard Fg? Why are you trying to give them time to do something if you miss or something goes wrong or forcing your team to kick off? Why not call the timeout with 4 seconds left? Why are you settling for a 48 yard Fg instead of doing your best to make it closer on a pass play at the end of the game?
  8. Nah, can’t try for the endzone. Have to give yourself a chance at kicking a game tying FG. What you can do is try your best to give your team the BEST opportunity to tie the game and that’s get as many of those yards back as possible. If people think running a HB draw there is the coaches giving our team the best opportunity to tie that game god bless em.
  9. So you’d rather run it at their 415 lb DT? Lol. Would love for someone to run the numbers on the % of success for college kickers making a 40-43 yard Fg vs a 47-50. That play call is trash in that situation. Again, it’s a play call of I'm just happy to be here.
  10. 1000%. How you are okay with settling for a 48-50 yard FG by a college kicker instead of trying to get even 5-8 yards back? That is pathetic. It was a “we are just happy to be here and have an opportunity play call”.
  11. At a certain point, blind faith becomes foolishness. As pointed out by a few, the defensive approach has been better (more agressive, blitzing, etc.) which has resulted in more sacks/TFL to this point, but good grief it still looks awfully easy at times for the opposing offenses. Offensively, we've been sold this wonderful top GRIT score QB that has a TD goal of 40 for the season for himself and has 0 through 2 games (one coming against an FCS school). Trickett needs to rely on Bohanon as a rusher to make the defense have to consider that at all times. Although, I'm sure at this point the coaches are scared out of their minds of him getting hurt with who we have behind him forget it. If he doesn't start relying on him as a runner, let's pray grit scores can turn into making better throws that our WRs don't have to do a full 360 to have a chance to catch. Then on top of it all, our progrum leader Jeff Scott talks about Clemson every step of the way. Sure makes it seem like he's in over his head and insecure, so he immediately references Clemson over and over and over until ears bleed. Hoping for the best, including a 5 win season that I was expecting coming into the year. From what I've seen so far, I'll be very surprised if they can manage to get 5 wins.
  12. Trickett had how long to come up with play 1 vs BYU? Not sure he has it in him to do anything but hand it off play 1.
  13. One of the first things he said today was we weren't in the right alignment on defense for play 1. Major red flag from a coaching perspective. Unfortunately, it seems not just to be him. HC/OC/DC all seemed incompetent last weekend.
  14. Part of this is fair. For the life of me I can't find how much we're paying Shoop, but I'd imagine it's somewhere near $400,000+ a season? If he's not smart enough to either figure out how to get his play calls in quicker to allow the defense to get set up or unable to make adjustments to give the defense a chance to be set up in time that's a disgrace. Happened all night.
  15. I didn't expect a win and did not expect a super close game. I did however, expect us not to look like a high school football team. We played them better last year. On the road, with less talent, with a true freshman QB that everyone is so quick to point out how much better Bohanon is. Gives off the impression that things are going backwards even if they might not be.
  16. Haha no. He has used that bamboo tree reference in regards to the football program though and the guy can't help himself but talk about Clemson every chance he gets.
  17. I stand corrected. Absolutely brutal, what the heck is Brown doing there my goodness. I'll die on the "hill" in regards to the other two plays though lol
  18. Horn didn't undercut the route. Bohanon overthrew him from what I saw. If you didn't see how badly Hlil played tonight then you weren't watching him. Three specific plays come to mind for me. First, on a run play he got himself stuck behind one of our defenders getting blocked by a BYU player. Took himself completely out of the play. Second, I saw him a few times get absolutely manhandled by WRs down the field blocking on run plays. One of the plays he went on a ride for about 15 yards and I couldn't tell if he just didn't try to shed the block or if he's just not capable. Third, he completely blew a coverage which led to their 4th TD of the game. The 21 yard pass was a blown coverage by him. He didn't touch the field again after that. I don't think it was injury, It was extremely obvious he should not be be starting on our defense after we've seen him the last season + out there.
  19. He says, "Ya know, this reminds me about a time at Clemson when we had lost quite a few games and we couldn't seem to get it right and really struggling but we believed in ourselves and we believed in our coaches and we believed that we were UNITED. We were bamboo trees. We had planted the tree, but they grow for years under ground, and then all of a sudden BAM. They shoot up. That's what we had at Clemson during that time, and I still believe that's what we have here. We're going to have a good progrum just gotta fix the mistakes."
  20. McClain had zero chance at success last year. As a true freshman, on a horrendous team, with terrible play calling. I will say our offensive game plan tonight was atrocious too. Bohanon was just off on a lot of throws. Should have had Horn for a TD in the first half but over threw him, threw behind players quite a few times (some of them should have still been caught), but the majority of the throws Trickett dialed up were 5 yards or closer to the line of scrimmage.
  21. Jitters by the 5th year Junior who is our "leader" and has an incredible GRIT score? Probably not a good sign.
  22. Most of this is reasonable. However, there are major red flags. They hyped up Matthew Hill all spring and said he was the MVP. He was absolutely terrible last year and he was just as bad the first quarter tonight. They did make the adjustment and don't think he saw the field after the first quarter tonight, but an average joe can tell that kid is not a starting FBS defender. I think 70+% of Bohanon's pass attempts tonight were 5 yards or closer to the line of scrimmage. With how much we've been told about Bohanon and his Grit score + the weapons we have (Horn/Weaver) we should be letting it rip. Didn't happen. If we beat an 0-2 FCS team easily, that won't tell us anything either. We need to hope BYU is a legit top 10 football team because if not it's going to be an incredibly long season again.
