Yes and no.  He started a few games...but wasn't a star.  He became better known in the NFL.

Spurrier played for the 49ers as a backup most of his NFL career.  He only played for the Bucs one year during their first ever season.

Was it Peter Tom Willis that pushed Johnson back ?
