I might go to the 500. I like the new system from sounds of it.  Only problem is the final races will be very dull with so few cars and if there is a big accident there may not be any cars left running. I think you will see single file no crash racing in last races which will be a big bore to watch.

I read some more into it and actually every team still races until end of year but I guess they dont score points the last ten races. Seems real stupid as nascar has teams for some ghuys and others dont and some have multiple teamates. What is stopping a teamate who is out of running from taking out a top ten guy every race at end of year to help his teamate. And if he was your teamate should he not do that to help you anyway?

NASCAR should stay away from California.  It needs to stay in the South, brings in a lot of economic development into these southern towns/cities

I do like the new system as more people have a chance.

KR... you say what is stopping a teammate from taking out one of the leaders to help his teammate in the new system?

Well what was stopping that from happening in last year's system?  They were out of the running for the title, yeah they get points, but those points don't mean jack... i don't think this changes anything with respect to how teammates work together.

VG

The higher on points list you are the more money you get. If the last ten races are not counted for anyone after top 10 then they bottom guys have no reason to race to finish.  Right now the guys all race to end cuz of points as every guy that earns points gets paid at end of year.

But if you are somewhere near the bottom and can make your teammate get higher in the standings, i doubt losing a couple spaces means much at all, compared to the gain for your team.  You'd probably be compensated (under the table), regardless of what system.

I've seen races where teammates work together to help each other out in the old system, so i don't think the new system will make it all that much worse.

I hear ya VG.  There was nothing worse then in F1 a couple years ago when schumakers teamate was told to slow way down and let Mikey pass him on the last lap for the win as they were running 1 and 2. That was bullcrap and should not have happened. Anyway it is Nascar who changes their rules during races so who really cares anyway

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
