I'm not sure if it will be televised or on what channel.

We certainly have a lot more USF recruits on the Miami roster, so I am rooting for them!  ;D

Tournament of Champions Inc. announced the all-star teams for the eighth annual Nike South Florida All-Star football game, scheduled for 7 p.m. Jan. 17 at Fort Lauderdale's Lockhart Stadium.

The Broward County All-Stars will be coached by Al Lang of Hollywood Hills.

The Dade County squad, which will look to even the series that Broward County leads 4-3, will be coached by Braddock's Frank Rojas.

''The Nike South Florida All-Star Football Game has established itself as one of the marquee events on the national high school scene,'' Tournament of Champions executive director Wesley Frater said. ``With two of the top coaches in the area leading the teams, we will continue the tradition of excellence the game has created in its short history.''

NCAA college coaches are permitted to attend the all-star game and practice sessions preceding the game.

All players listed will have a meeting at 2 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Hecht Athletic Center on the University of Miami campus. For questions, contact Frater at 954-382-9832.

Dade County won 20-17.

Broward rally falls just shy

Fort Lauderdale -- It was especially important for Chaminade-Madonna running back James Jones that Broward beat Miami-Dade in the counties' annual all-star football game Monday night.

He may attend school in Broward, but he lives near Miami Northwestern, and the senior "didn't want to hear all that fuss" from his neighbors if his team lost. Unfortunately, he'll have to listen, but through no fault of his own.

Jones gave Broward its only lead with a late touchdown run, but for the second consecutive year, Broward lost in the waning seconds as the Dade quarterback rushed for a touchdown.

Dennis Brown of Miami Central sprinted up the middle for a 13-yard touchdown with 31 seconds left to give Dade a 20-17 comeback victory at Lockhart Stadium. Last year, Edison quarterback Tino Edgecomb ran for an 18-yard TD with 18 seconds left for a 6-3 Dade win.

Monday, Brown capped a five-play, 43-yard drive in the final 1:20.

"That's what I really wanted to do my whole football career," said Brown, named the game's MVP. "I had a chance to do it my last game of the season for Central, but it didn't work out, so I had to make it count my last high school game."

Jones had given Broward its only lead on a 10-yard touchdown run with 6:49 left before Brown brought back Dade.

Broward, which trailed 13-0 at the half, had scored 17 unanswered points. Broward rallied with a 5-yard touchdown pass from Hollywood Hills' Paul McCall to Plantation's Dennis Campbell and a 30-yard field goal from St. Thomas Aquinas' Joe Surgan, who missed an earlier try from the same distance and had another blocked.

"We just thought about what we had to do and we came out and played hard," said Jones, the game's leading rusher with seven carries for 64 yards. For Jones, a 5-foot-8, 185-pounder who hasn't been highly recruited, Monday's game still was a success because he showcased his speed and running style to the many recruiters in attendance.

"I just came out with a lot of intensity and heart," Jones said. "It's real tough [to lose], but it felt good coming out and playing with the boys."

Dade scored its first two touchdowns in the final three minutes of the first half. Miami Jackson receiver Marcus Allen leaped over a Broward defender for a 14-yard touchdown catch after a blocked punt, and quarterback Cory Christopher rushed for a 1-yard TD -- the extra point failed -- with 44 seconds left after Broward's third turnover of the half.
