28 pt win over a preseason coaches prediction to go to the dance.  I don't care what conference it is... every conference has at least one decent team, and we slaughtered them, and shut down their leading scorer, a-sun player of the year candidate.

they'll be quivering... their conference's best team just got waxed.

It may be a chitty conference but last year, this game would have been close til the end.  Progress!

Whoever made that prediction is on crack.  Stetson may not even make the tourny.  UCF and Georgia State will battle for the conference title.

E.J. Gordon is a decent player but nothing to write home about.

Game story for those who missed it:

Hot-Shooting USF Tames Stetson 93-65

Boxscore (html)

Boxscore (pdf)

TAMPA, Fla.  USF shot a school-record 64.7 percent from the floor on the way to a 93-65 win over Stetson Friday night at the USF Sun Dome.

“When people look at this score they will say they must have shot well and played well and of course the shooting percentages bear that out,†said USF coach Robert McCullum, “but I really feel the tone was set defensively. I thought we did a great job, the best job yet up to this point in the season, of pressuring the basketball.â€Â

USF hit 33 of its 51 field goal attempts, was 12-of-23 from the 3-point line, and 15-of-19 from the free throw line. The Bulls (3-0) shot 69.2 percent (18-of-26) in the first half.

The scoring total as well as the victory margin was the largest for USF in McCullum’s two seasons.

Terrence Leather became the second player in USF history to have a perfect night from the field. The senior forward was 8-of-8 and 21 points. He was 5-of-6 from the free throw line.

James Holmes, a junior guard, was nearly perfect, connecting on 9-of-11 from the floor. He was 6-of-8 from 3-point range as he scored a career-high and game-high 24 points.

“We have felt all along that James was going to kind of have a breakout game as he got healthy,†said McCullum. “The way he shot and played tonight, that’s how he played up at Florida State in our scrimmage a few weeks ago. Another key with James is his shoulder is getting better. This is the best he has felt since prior to hurting his shoulder.â€Â

Leather keyed a 16-0 run with eight points as the Bulls assembled a 23-6 lead with 10:57 left in the first half. Stetson (1-1) did not get closer than 15 the rest of the night. USF led 45-24 at halftime.

USF improved to 3-0 for the fourth consecutive season. A year ago USF opened 3-0 but dropped 20 of its final 24 games. McCullum thinks there are differences between the 3-0 his current team has compiled, however.

“We have better chemistry than we had at this point last season,†said McCullum. “We shoot the basketball better than we did and I think we have a much better understanding of what it takes to succeed at this level. That’s not to say our chemistry is as good as we would like for it to be or as good as it needs to be but yet it’s certainly ahead of where we were (a year ago at this time).

Brian Swift and Collin Dennis were also in double figures with 15 and 10 points, respectively.

USF faces Bethune-Cookman Tuesday at the Lakeland Center. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.
