Lots of Local Events Crowd Saturday Schedule

October 6, 2006

Saturday appears to be a good day to stay home and watch sports on television. With USC and UCLA playing at home, the Dodgers and Mets at Dodger Stadium, the Kings in their home opener at Staples Center, and a big race at Santa Anita, imagine the traffic around the Southland. And it will be particularly bad downtown, where a number of other activities are scheduled.

Tampa has gotten really bad because the road designs are the worst i have ever seen.   (see malfunction junction)

Imagine a lot of people lived in tampa.

Worst you've ever seen?  You've gotta get out more...

I admit they aren't good, but compared to driving in Boston, Tampa is a piece of cake.  At least you get over 50 feet to merge, most the time.  Boston and NY you have to merge into 60 mph traffic at 90 degree angles...you are a NY fan, so you probably can relate better to something like the "Saw Mill Parkway" near Ardsley(sp?), not too far north of Manhatten...

I was there for a couple junior golf tournaments at Ardsley-on-Hudson and Westchester CC, and was almost killed just trying to get onto that road.  Cars going 80, heavy traffic, narror 2 lane roads, and you have a stop sign to merge onto a blind corner....  AYE AYE AYE.

the shear number of people in LA has made the greatest freeway system obsolete

it is always rush hours here

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22

"For me, I never considered it that way (as a stepping stone), honestly. When I was offered the head job at South Florida, and I'm sincere about this, I never thought I would ever go anywhere."

    Jim Leavitt
