TAMPA - Freshman pitcher Casey Hudspeth tied a career- high in strikeouts, registering nine as the University of South Florida baseball team defeated Saint Louis 6-2 at Red McEwen Field.

Hudspeth (5-1, 2.91 ERA) allowed two runs on five hits in seven innings. First baseman Brian Baisley led USF with three RBIs on the night. Going 2-for-3, the Land O'Lakes native hit his eighth double of the year.

The win made USF (20-8, 5-2 C-USA) the fourth team in Conference USA to reach the 20-win plateau in 2004

This has been a great year for baseball.  I hope they can keep it up.  It would be nice to see them make a run in the CWS.
