If the devil ray win the WS next year, it would probably be one of the greatest feats ever accomplished in baseball, beating out the yanks, sox, and jays from the AL east alone.  Much rather have that than a Yanks win.

Rays have some incredible young players in Baldelli, Crawford, Upton, Young, and maybe Hamilton.  There young pitching has not been very good and that is where they will be hurting for a long time as it is tough to get good pitching without spending the dough or bringing them through the system.

Guys, come on.  Be realistic. The D Rays will be lucky to get out of the cellar.  They have good hitting, but they have no pitching whatsoever, and their team is so young.

They also play in arguably the best divison of baseball.

Heres my pre-season prediction of teams in the East-

1. Red Sox  

2. Yankees

3.  Orioles

4. Blue Jays

5. D Rays

If the D Rays can find 2 starting pitchers get hot this year, they might finish ahead of the Blue Jays.  But I doubt it.

I don't think pitching will be terrible (o.k. maybe by our standards) Waechter (who is my personal favorite..local boy) Zambrano can cut down on the hit batters and walks, Gonzalez will be fine.

I dont think the DRays pitching is that bad off either. Gonzalez and Zambrano are both underrated, Waechter could be a star in the making, and I think Damian Moss may be a huge pickup. I think there youngsters on the mound (Waechter, Standridge, Brazelton) will all be solid contributors this year. I dont think a third place finish is out of the question. The Jays have a pretty strong staff but lack offense outside of Vernon Wells and Delgado. The Orioles signed an overrated Javy Lopez and Sidney Ponson (if he was that good the Giants would have held on to him) and have a pitching staff not much better if not worse than the Rays.
