is now taking potshots at the new majority owners for not keeping the team on an upward salary trend, which most people agree is essential for improving the team.

I'm betting he won't be around as coach after this season.

I think Lou and LaRussa are the most over rated managers in the game. They both have one world series victory but so does Tito Francona.  If you look at all the talent Lou had in Seattle and he never took them to a world series you have to wonder. Griffey Jr, The Unit, Arod, Edgar etc...

Lou is a Lexus on a team full of Hyundai's. When he leaves do you think they will get another Lexus? Heck no. I'm surprised they signed Carl Crawford to a long-term deal when it's obvious there is no immediate concern for improving the team.
