  1. What does the coach say to you when you are down 48-7 at halftime? Gee... Maybe they'll reach 100.
  2. 4:29 - 2nd ESPN3 1 2 3 4 T TLSA 7 0 7 TULN 21 21 42
  3. I don't think he's old enough to drink yet. Don't start him down the wrong path!
  4. Since there's no USF football game, let's discuss men's hoops. Joey has a nice interview with Coach Gregory. You know, I'm on board with this here; I really like him. Yes, I was wrong about him when the hiring announcement was made. The recruiting has been awesome. And I really like the two assistants. Betting with USF Money, can't go wrong there. Do you think we'll break .500 this season? http://www.gousfbulls.com/roster.aspx?path=mbball
  5. Give me the trailers. It was like watching the birth of a baby. I remember talking to a walk-on linemen about the team. "I think we're pretty good. But it's hard to tell because we don't have real games." It's one of my favorite football memories. That scrimmage at the soccer stadium. Loved it! And Tampa loved us. No problems. No hate. It was all good and perfect. USF could do no wrong. Yeah, the Sun Dome had air and the trailers had aluminum, those were the facilities and the humble beginnings.
  6. We need Miami to lose. Can't have them ahead of us! Don't know if FSU has any offensive game left to win the game. Might be a season-saving game for them, though. So, here are my wishes this weekend: (1) UNVL beats SDSU. UNLV can score, but I don't know about their ability to stop the run. (2) FSU needs to beat Miami. (3) LSU needs to beat uf. Sorry, Bull-lizard -nothing personal. (4) Washington State needs to beat the tar out of Oregon. Go, Mike Leach! Yes, you can call me a hater all you want. (5) And do you even need to ask? Cincy needs to pull the upset and send the tin men back to reality.
  7. #24 NC State beat #17 Louisville. Will a 5-1 NC State team leap us in the AP poll because we didn't play this weekend? I think it's a travesty to the whole voting system if that happens. Matt Baker would probably do it in a heartbeat. But he's not the norm. I'm pretty sure it won't happen in the Coaches' poll, as Louisville is below us. http://www.espn.com/college-football/rankings BTW, I'm looking forward to seeing SDSU lose to UNLV! I'll be glued to that game -until UNLV can't win the game anymore.
  8. I think we got the "instant fans" kinda thing with the big wins in the early days. They'd put on a USF T-shirt and attended games but that's just to hop on the bandwagon. Leavitt's departure, all of it, + the down years whittled the fans down to the core diehards. Basically, we lost fans for a while there. We've been gaining fans but not enough in the last few years to make up for the big drain after the bandwagoners jumped wagon (ship?). Have the bandwagoners come back? Nope. Even FSU didn't bring them back. Though, I did see some guy trying to scalp tickets before the game, which made me laugh internally (with pride). As for "spoiled fans," maybe I went too far with that. What I'm saying is that sometimes we want everything and right now. That said, after this weekend of no USF football, I'm still going to want everything and fast! --Let's pound everybody into the ground!
  9. No, I'm not doing one of those threads; I'm serious. Okay, we went from no football to a BCS team and then #2 in the land in no time at all. I mean teams like Troy who beat LSU last week, that was their glory ---for how many years of football? We've taken out FSU @ FSU and Notre Dame @ Notre Dame, to name a few. We started football in 1997! Speaking for myself, I'm always wanting MORE. I mean I want us to get into the top 10 this season! That's crazy, when compared to schools that have been playing football for eons and they never even crack the polls. I guess it's hard not to be spoiled when we are surrounded by the successes of UM, uf, and FSU. And I'm sure many of us migrated over from one of those teams when we got USF football. But my goodness, sometimes we have it so good that we still want it all. #OCS# Step back for a sec. We are ranked. We have most of the staff from last season's Texas. We are on national TV quite a bit. Most teams would love to play on ESPN! Georgia Southern, how often are they on national TV? Remember Hofstra back in the day? They closed down their football program... No USF football this weekend. But I'm going to make it a point to stop and appreciate what we have.
  10. For me, I've always assumed that attendance numbers will open the P5 doors, because attendance means self-generated money from an incoming team. But look at Houston. They have great home crowds, but they aren't any closer to a P5 invite than anybody else. What does this really say about the politics of getting into a P5?
  11. Who wants to bet me? I bet a $100 donation to the site that SDSU will not go undefeated this season.
  12. Getting in, that's the price of admission. Getting kicked out, well, that's a different set of rules. *cough* Big East *cough*
  13. BTW, Anybody notice all the new faces on ESPN? Who dat? Most of what ESPN writes --it's like yahoo's front page. Click bait. We just need to win. Nobody can take away our ranking unless we screw up. Win out and the bowl picture will take care of itself.
  14. 1-and-done games: We should always try to schedule UM, FSU, and uf. Why go they way to Ohio or wherever to play other top programs? If we get paid, we can actually make money playing these state game --taking a bbbb--busssss saves money. That's a start. I don't know about scheduling at all, actually less than that. But if we can dig up teams like San Jose State and Umass to play us, I just feel that there's got to be better options. [I don't throw rocks at my school, so I'll stop there.]
  15. Does anybody know if USF is still only doing a 1-1 scheduling? For example, would we go on the road to Tuscaloosa and play 'Bama without a return game? --Not that I know 'Bama would want us. Just asking. You can see some of our old schedules here, just select the year: http://www.espn.com/college-football/team/schedule/_/id/58/year/2007
  16. I'm feeling good about our team again. So, yes, I'm loving 5-0. The OC now knows about our players' talents and what makes this team go. Defensively, we are lot better than last year. Perfect? No. The extra week is such good timing. Go Bulls!
  17. We had good backs over the years. The problem was the lack of talent and development of the O-line. Leavitt never cared about the O-line when it came to recruiting.
  18. UNLV is good enough to pull the upset. They get a good home crowd. 1 2 3 4 T UNLV 0 7 7 7 21 OSU 16 28 10 0 54
  19. I highlighted what I think are the toughest games for each team. If we play our game, it's going to be us and ucf to see who gets the big invite on Nov. 24th. SDSU will drop out very soon -too many tough teams remaining on their schedule. I just don't see how they survive the gauntlet (for them). USF SDSU ucf gnats Sat, Oct 14 vs Cincinnati Sat, Oct 21 @ Tulane Sat, Oct 28 vs Houston Sat, Nov 4 @ UConn Thu, Nov 16 vs Tulsa Fri, Nov 24 @ UCF Sat, Oct 7 @ UNLV Sat, Oct 14 vs Boise State Sat, Oct 21 vs Fresno State Sat, Oct 28 @ Hawai'i Sat, Nov 4 @ San José State Sat, Nov 18 vs Nevada Fri, Nov 24 vs New Mexico Sat, Oct 7 @ Cincinnati Sat, Oct 14 vs East Carolina Sat, Oct 21 @ Navy Sat, Oct 28 vs Austin Peay Sat, Nov 4 @ SMU Sat, Nov 11 vs UConn Sat, Nov 18 @ Temple Fri, Nov 24 vs #18 USF
  20. Okay, point made. I didn't look at their past, only how they played last night and who they have coming up. Yes, they had two nice wins against the 6-pk teams.
  21. Northern Illinois has improved a great deal since we pounded into the ground. That said, they gifted SDSU a ton of points. SDSU isn't that good. Solid team, no doubt. And they have a good RB with a nice ground game. But these guys are pretenders. They will go down soon enough. I bet UNLV at home is going to give them all they can handle. If they fall behind, it's tough for them to catch up; they really don't have a big passing game.
  22. Okay, maybe I'm talking about the offense. Anyway, they are finally playing good football. Defensively, that's where I expected us to be. If we are going places, we need this offense to lead the way, like they did today. Good job, everybody -including the OC. Almost 4:00am. Time for some sleep. It was worth it, though.
