  1. I think making the tournament last year did a huge thing for us, especially how far we got into the tourney. If we didn't make the tourney, this year would be like another Big East stepchild year where they just pound us week in and week out, and no way we would have won against GW like we did. I think the psychological effects of not dancing for so long kept us bad for so many years. The guys get into a close game and revert back to that "yeah, we're gonna lose another one" mentality. But now, the team can pull on last year's success and dig deep. The future of the program looks great! I'm very excited. When was the last time USF won a home game with over 6K in attendance? ---That's awesome!
  2. I know there's a common theme in all the posts over the years, going back to when this Brad first started this forum, and that is SUFFERING. We Bulls suffer a lot. Yes, we are elated at times also. But it seems to me we beech and moan more than cheer. Okay, so I put it to you, since day one as a Bull, has it been a great ride? It's been a fabulous ride! GO BULLS!
  3. Hey, maybe this officially makes us a football school once more. We beat them last year, so I'm sure they are paying back. The good thing is that our team gets to go back home to Florida and all the Redbirds are still stuck in Louisville!
  4. Lefty from Vegas has USF + 18.5/19 points. If we want to Dance, he had better win this game. It would be sweet!
  5. I'm finally at peace, again. Football looks solid, at least back to where is was before the last two years. Okay, minus the conference stuff. Basketball is back to losing in the Big East again. But, hey, those teams are leaving and we'll be better next year, so that's good! It's been so draining the last couple of months with USF athletics. Just say no to USF dramatics!
  6. I'd have to put Noriega in the top 10 just because some of his threes last year were really important and got us to the Dance. The guys is also a really good cold 3-point expert. We need to go back to recruiting out of Eastern Europe bring in some 3-point dudes!
  7. I think we have veterans and people with a lot of football knowledge on the defensive side, so we should be okay. Q: Did USF football improve its coaching staff from a few months ago? I would have to say a huge improvement. Will this translate to wins on the field? I don't know. I just know it's a lot better looking than Holtz and company coming back for another year! --Amen!
  8. I don't have any problems with our guys. They beat the gnats and avenged the loss, so I'm good. We just need our people to score. I mean you can keep people under 60 all you want. But if they score more than you, game over.
  9. I like you when you were incoherent, smazza... Anyway, I just want USF to have that recognizable branding from the trailer days. We are changing everything (for the better!), but I don't want to lose so much of what made us special: USF football grew out of the dreams and desires of the students and the surrounding community. Having Marquel along with Larry Scott on the staff will make USF football seem like it's still the same.
  10. It's a huge difference in pay to go from the NFL to the college ranks. But he did get the NFL boot! --------- A September 2009 "Los Angeles Times" article cites an unnamed NFL source stating that the average salary for NFL coordinators ranges between $450,000 and $3 million. The article adds that the average NFL defensive coordinator salary is approximately $850,000 compared to $800,000 for offensive coordinators. http://www.ehow.com/info_12036363_average-salary-nfl-defensive-coordinator.html
  11. Here's a nice writeup when he got the Raiders' DC job. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/800220-defensive-coordinator-chuck-bresnahan-what-he-brings-to-the-raiders-defense
  12. Here's a video: http://www.csnbayarea.com/raiders/107-raiders-practice-chuck-bresnahan Let's give him a chance. I mean, we will be playing UCF, etc., not NFL teams. I'm good with this hire.
  13. He's been working with high school athletes through FBU University Annapolis, MD http://www.bsnhigh.com/albums/photo/view/album_id/44/photo_id/139
  14. I know Coach loves to keep up with media, so maybe he visits here. Anyway, in whatever capacity, I would like to see Mr. Blackwell on our staff. Who better to recruit than the man who was there when it all started? I don't care with the rest of the hires, as long as there's room for him. -----------------------> Marquel Blackwell <-----------------
  15. 1) Get him signed and on the staff page at GoUSFBulls.com before we get all analytical about this hire. 2) This hire probably came recommended. Fine. I'm down with that. 3) He's got lots of experience, even NFL experience. 4) He's not 98 years old and worn out. (My apologies to those who are 98 years old on this board!) 5) There are worse people and better people out there. But who are we to complain? --Remember last year's defense?
  16. Oh, how I wish we could all be talking about Holtz and what he's going to do with next season... "We are going to compete!"
  17. Watching what happened with the Syracuse game, it made me wonder who's our all-time best 3-point man? This guys comes to mind, but I might not be right. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derrick_Sharp (Sharp is a naturalized Israeli citizen.) Didn't know that.
  18. Call it a hunch, but I think it's not about who wants the DC position. Rather, it's who our head coach is willing to hire. People who are driven to achieve can be very tough to work with -unless you are on the same wave length. I trust our Coach to make the right decision.
  19. If we play like this all year, we will Dance! Go Bulls!
  20. Darn! We had our chances. But Syracuse was just plain good. Go Bulls!
  21. I don't know what's going on, maybe too much coffee this morning. But I feel we are going to win today! 1) No national network TV. This is great. 2) Our boys know the humiliation of losing in front of a big home crowd too well. 3) We've been good, been bad, and somewhere in between. Today could be the day that for one game all the cylinders fire together! 4) We've got nothing to lose: zero pressure! GO BULLS!
  22. They both started at Stanford together. http://blogs.mercurynews.com/collegesports/2007/02/21/stanford-football-harbaugh-puts-his-staff-together/ Here’s a quick rundown of Harbaugh’s assistants and their backgrounds: Running backs coach Willie Taggart: Coached quarterbacks for seven years at Western Kentucky. Defensive line coach Lance Anderson: Coached at Bucknell for four years and at Idaho State and USD for two years each. BTW, read the comments at the bottom of the article for a good laugh.
  23. He reminds me of when we were recruiting B.J.; he couldn't make up his mind either. But I have a sinking feeling this guy isn't as good. Just an opinion based on my feelings.
