So USF would have to pay him $10 million to gtfo of Tampa but he would only have to pay USF $1 mill to tell us to GFY and coach somewhere else? Call BS on that one and any person to create and present a contract like that is a moron. tell that to the Bucs who just recently stopped having to pay Gruden point is-- while we might not be on the hook for the entire 10Million or whatever it is--- it will be a sizable chunk of change in addition to paying the new coach. USF is nowhere near as flush as some like to believe around here. How much does USF lose in ticket and merchandising because of this bumb. How many recruits? How many endorsments? It's triage time... Time to cut out the cancer before it spreads.

Contrary to popular belief, even with the extension, Skip doesn't make a whole ton of money (by coaching standards). I haven't seen his contract, but any director worth thier salt writes in performance clauses - good and bad! His puny salary can easily be bought out. Hell the FSU game will raise enough mula to buy hime out. He's freaking skrapple after this season... count ou it! Like I said before, contracts should be written on toliet paper beause they aren't worth s>>>>!

Ball State, no matter how many homers disagree, is a good program; however, they have (had) a less talented roster. BUT, what they lack in player talent, they gain in coaching. This was a situation based game... (aren't they all?). The Ball State coaches had a great gameplan, put their offensive and defensive squads in positions of strength. I think, by contrast, the USF coaching staff was caught in a reactionary mode and couldn't gain momentum on eithr side of the ball. There were situations where USF was clearly out-gunned on defense. For instance: Ball state, on a couple of occasions, broke the huddle with 4 and 5 reciever sets. USF, clearly in the wrong defense with totally the wrong package, remained in bad defensive alignments and were easily exploited with no counter. The Offensive was good at times and bad in others... a complete wash. BJ had great plays, but then would throw passes into the turf (WTF)! Why did USF stay in a run play with Lemar (who had a good game) in the backfield when the Ball State D was CLEARLY stacked against the run. Last question. What will the USF execs do when no one wants to buy tickets to pay Holtz's undeserved wages? USF hasn't even begun to play the tough part of the schedule and are already up against it. I see 2 more wins (SU and Temple) the rest does not look promising.

Skip Holtz has "AVERAGED" 5 losses (4.84) a season over the 13 years as a HC. Best season was 10-3 in 98 as UCONNs (Div 1-AA) skipper. He's a stop-gap, but has PROVEN he can't consistantly win at this level. Oh, and BJ sucks! (Pardon the pun, or is it irony).

Tampa's PLUSES are also it's negatives. The area is filled with transients with loyalties to other cities and teams; whether it be from MacDill, USF, or the turist just passing through. Couple that with the millions of things to do for fun, and you have the poor attendance. Ask the Bucs & Rays... Same crap, different team. Ther Bucs needed wins and big named stars to fill the seats - Sapp, Brooks, Alstott, etc. The Bulls need the same + their own (on-campus) stadium. Madden once said "winning is a good deodorant." Well losing is a great repellant for blue chips, assistants, and fans. ESPN is really trying to cram USF football down the throats of the general public and sell USF football as a worth-while product, BUT USF IS NOT DOING IT"S PART! The bulls had a NATIONAL audiance Thursday night and laid a big fat egg. Holtz's name was figured to be a draw and it was until he showed and continues to show HE CAN'T WIN AT THIS LEVEL! There were mistakes made out there that wreaks of poor coaching and disipline!
