  1. Can we ban the phrase "can't blame him for.../ can't blame the players for..." from TBP? It's beginning to be overused. If this is a business, then we can stop looking at these players like kids who have a genuine desire to play college ball while getting a free education for the team that put a lot of time, resources, and efforts into bringing them to USF. They have no loyalty to our program/ school. Players today are loyal to the dollar and that's it. So when I'm looking for someone to blame, I'm going to blame the athlete who chooses to leave USF to get money and attention for himself. That's what I'm going to do, don't fault me for having my own opinion, everyone else on here can do as they please. I won't criticize you for it, I'm only critical of the overused phrasing lol.
  2. He didn't "rebuild" either. He came in with 3 of his players he had already been coaching (one being a defensive POY and the later to be named co-POY CY. He had Miguel become a really good player either through his own pre-destined development or maybe through CAAR and staff's coaching. CAAR also got Pryor who was a tremendous factor on the court and probably played above his level at times when he was on and was also lights out from the FT line (a previous problem for USF basketball). CAAR came in with a few aces in his pocket, a crappy conference and a bit of luck. Great season but I wouldn't say he "rebuilt", this next season will be a rebuild.
  3. The great construction company will do their job and build what they’re told to build but it’s the design that’s lacking. The construction company isn’t what matters for what it looks like, but it is a good thing a great construction company is there to build the ugly structure safely and soundly. We definitely don’t want any issues with execution of the subpar design.
  4. Right? And because of the UV index. But Arkansas, on the other hand, has MASSIVE boosters/ donors. Dallas Cowboys Jerry Jones, Denver Broncos co-owner/ Walmart owner Rob Walton, and John Tyson of Tyson Foods to name a few.
  5. That's fair, and not totally unexpected either. I was concerned that might be a factor so I never really thought we stood a chance.
  6. It's really only 2 cleanings for the year. Maybe if he gets one before he leaves Florida, it's only just the 1. If he can time it correctly, he can get his 2nd on a short trip home...could avoid those Arkansas dentists entirely. I was on the fence whether I should include that but then I rationalized it that way so that's why I didn't include them. If you're looking for yourself, I'd be happy to go into much greater details about dentistry comparisons between Fayetteville and Tampa.
  7. Just giving the people on the board some toilet time reading material. He can practice, eat, sleep, and attend online classes from Arkansas's gym for a year, he doesn't even need to venture outside. Just some info for the curious bunch out there for the comparisons to Tampa using some kind of metrics.
  8. That fits right in with CAAR's style. Without looking, I'm guessing many of our guys from last season took a high % of their shot from behind the arc. That's not an issue for us.
  9. Do you know if they are permitted to be offered an NIL amount "officially" without entering the portal first? I don't know the answer, that's why I'm asking.

  11. He can come back as far as I'm aware. I don't see why he would though because he had a great season and will get offered more money someplace besides USF. If, for some reason, he wants to turn down the offers, I believe he's eligible to come back if CAAR and the team want him. I've seen it happen in football, never really noticed it in basketball.
  12. Exactly. It's definitely end-stage capitalism behavior and @Bull94 is willing to burn the entire system to the ground for the consolidation of power into the hands of the select few in the name of "capitalism". This isn't capitalism, it's more like using quasi-capitalistic ideas during a period of time when capitalism in its healthiest form can't thrive. It doesn't lead to the outcomes of healthy capitalism, it leads to looting of the coffers by the ultra powerful before the entire system collapses and leads to something else, such as feudalism. You can be pro-capitalism but also realize this isn't right for the system that was based on the exchange of a free college education, amateur status and everything else included for a college athlete, as well as the ability to continue playing your sport against better competition while working to possibly become a professional in your sport. This actually sounds like you're the marxist here with your pro-worker viewpoint. You seem to be in favor of profit sharing amongst the workers like a communist ideal rather than in capitalism where the stakeholder reaps the benefits of company they've made. The argument of paying the athletes because the universities make money from their "workers/ athletes" is no different in demanding that Fortune 500 companies pay their workers a % of the revenue. That's not capitalism, that's marxism. You're the marxist and don't even know it.
  13. Yes, and if he wants to make a reference to capitalism and stick with that argument, this system was enacted by the powerful cabal of college sports elites to deepen their pockets and is not meant to make things better for everyone across the board. It will allow those with systems that have already been established with massive donor pools to prosper while destroying those who are still working on things. These elite members are now circling the wagons to consolidate everything for themselves at the top and force everyone else (that includes USF) out and you're arguing in favor of it. To continue this further, USF is a mom and pop store that will be eaten up by the big box retailers, along with dozens (CFB) if not hundreds (CBB) of other D1 programs around the country. As a "capitalist" system, that's what happens over time as cronyism enters. This isn't a pure capitalist system being set up in college sports from stage 1, it's a system of corruption and greed entering as the nationwide capitalist system simultaneously enters its final stage. For those school who will now go without the ability to put food in their kid's mouth (maintain and grow their programs), that's a problem. Do we let the market simply take out the weak college sports programs while those who already have the upper hand continue to benefit? Does the government interfere in this "free" system and increase spending of tax payer money to keep the status quo? Or should the new system have never been installed for the betterment of maintaining the system as soundly as it was? A NIL system like this is going to have harsh consequences for those who don't have the resources. Additionally, those who don't have the resources will never be able to get those resources to even get going. It'll eventually be like 1972 Dolphins playing against high school teams. Those "high school teams" will not be able to compete, fans won't have interest in them, no one will buy tickets, TV time or merchandise. NIL systems for the lower tiers will dry up so who will pay those athletes? No one? That defeats the purpose of even having those teams which are now on the level of a community league squad. Now we have professional sports. Why do you think the NBA can't have 351 basketball teams like D1 basketball? There just aren't enough fans, not enough money to be made, and the players wouldn't get paid as much -- except by the top 30 NBA teams that currently exist -- it would dilute and degrade that whole system. All of this will bull will cause these programs to go belly up without MORE government assistance and that can't happen when government spending is out of control and across some metrics, bankrupt. What's the solution?
  14. It may not be my exact dollar that buys him extra guac but it’s the same idea as saying my taxes pay some public official’s salary. I’m sure at some point he’ll buy Chipotle and it may or may not come from the money I gave him to play at USF. Beyond that, I think the purity of college athletics was identified because the players played for their ego, their team, their fans, their school. Now with paychecks that will continue to increase just like in the pros, they play got the paycheck. The line between the pros and high-end college athletics is blurring to the point that it’s almost no different in what drives the players. You will likely eventually get to the point of feeling the same way about college as you do the pros, that is, as long as NIL is in place.
  15. I’ll tell you this right now, I’m not donating $20 a month to NIL so I can buy some kid Chipotle once a month whilst he also gets a free education (unlike mine, which I had to pay for). Shut the whole system down, college sports are ruined. Can’t wait to see what happens to all of this over the next 10-20 years. The divide between the haves and the have nots is going to gape wide open until it no longer works. Are we going to be shutting down athletic programs left and right in this country and only allowing the strongest to survive? Are we going to begin merging schools? This was a mistake.
  16. Want to keep your coaches? Get into a better conference, get that TV money and pay them what they're worth. Until then, any bit of sustained success will result in poaching by those who have that setup already. It's pretty simple. It's not the facilities, it's not the location, it's not the administration, it's the money and the lack of opportunity to really be great on a national stage. It's just a fact.
  17. This is a CAAR slogan and CAG said he was wearing it because of the amount of respect he has for CAAR. I saw a video a few weeks ago where they showed CAAR talking about it and how it's graphical displayed on a wall in the basketball facilities. But I did find this USF Oracle article detailing some information about it. "This mantra that he has been instilling in his players when he took the job in March stands for “Everyone Dedicating Great Effort.”" Men’s basketball to bring “E.D.G.E.” this season, coach says WWW.USFORACLE.COM With the season over a month away, men’s basketball head coach Amir Abdur-Rahim said his team will approach everything they do with an “E.D.G.E.” in a Tuesday press...
  18. Indian burial ground is angry as is evident in Reid’s go ahead in and out layup. Not happening. Great season Bulls!
