  1. Petrino is not a good idea yet. Taggert will get a bigger job soon, possibly UK or Arky (they are going to jave a hard time finding a coach they want, Holgs & Strong has been asked their interest both said no)
  2. Right now I would switch 1a with 1b, UL is better athletic program but RU delivers bigger market in television, that is what this realignment is about, is marquee match ups that deliver eyes to the television.
  3. Offense would not be putting up 70 in games because teams like RU,UL, and UConn play the run and utilize the clock. I still think Geno, Stedman and Tavon would be lighting it up but not at these numbers, Stedman has 13 TD catches this year. Our Oline is biggest difference due to its depth and under 2 year coach Bill Bedenbaugh (Billdozer), who is a beast. The emergence of Buie and FB Cody Clay has help offset Garrisons ACL, & Shawn Alston & Clarke being hurt. Unlike Leach, Dana likes to run the ball as seen in WVU and Ok States Offenses. Defense would be questionable, we lost 4 great players from last year, Irvin in first round to Seattle (a Juco transfer), and 3 - 5th year seniors Julian Miller, Tandy and Goode(both with Bucs). Those guys where the last of Rich Rods recruits. So really ther cupboard is bare on D due to Bill Stewart and Jeff Casteel. Really since RIch Rod left we got one good Recruiting class, the one with Geno, Stedman, and Tavon mainly recruited by Doc Holliday/Jajuan Seider. Their was a few here and there like Robert Sands but after this year we will be young but a lot more talented overall across team. BJ Daniels would read really give us issues being able to move and his best pass is the deep ball, and the Freak would get lose on us also. Well until BJ would do BJ things and go full retard at some point int the game. Cincy, UL and Rugters with both somewhat mobile QBs, because again our CBs suck. Our front 7 is actually decent on run. And they BE does not sling the ball around anywhere near what Big 12 does, especially Baylor. Cincy impresses me because Butch gets the best out of his guys even when he was at WVU. Nova is doing well at Rutgers too. I think these 2 are the 2 to beat. I have watched UL and they don't impress me at all yet, I think Pitt beats them this week.
  4. What teally helped us with Clemson was the extra practice and getting oline healthy last year. 90% of snaps were by 5 olineman last year, they were beat down after USF game. We are probably 7-8 deep on oline this year.
  5. D is getting better, front 7of is average and our best LBer is Freshman I. Bruce. Our FS is true freshman and Cooke is SS. Our issue is CBs which played well today. I really think Baylors Wideouts is as good as WVU's and Baylor will finish better than expected. Our special teams are Special.
  6. Any news on hin since he got suspension, he is supposed to ne visiting soon probably KSt hame, and if he does not commit to WVU soon after I think he is USF bound.
  7. USF is Calvin McGees dream job, and he would do well.
  8. Was not at the 2007 game, but at 2009 and 2011 games, and 15k -17k would be my estimate for WVU fans, last years game in my opinion appeared to be a 50/50 split. I am down here on vacation this week and I don't think if I had tickets even for free I would have went to the FSU/USF even at 6 pm start. That means we (using our 4 hour early tailgates) would have been there at 2pm, it was to **** hot to be there. If both teams were undefeated yes everyone would have been there. I except a lot of fans sold their tickets for this game to fund the rest of the season, this is what a lot of WVU fans is doing for either the OU or KSt game. The tickets are going for minimum $150 dollars, this pays for 1/3 of the season ticket cost for us. Their is a lot of truth to fair weather fans, especially in Fla, did anyone see Miami's attendance from this weekend it may have been 3,500 people. USF needs to start winning and the fans will come, I don't think an On campus stadium even helps at this point. At least it's not as bad as Pitt with tickets going on Stubhub for $2 each, so that they may get 15k people in the stadium.
  9. It's not just strength of schedule it's about recruiting also, for both OSU in Texas and possibly TCU in Ohio. USF will get good OOC opponents because of Florida recruiting but if USF does not improve it may be 2-1 games (for some) iinstead of a straight home and home.
  10. I don't think none of it happens, but without FSU I don't see Big 12 expanding therefore I think ACC goes to 14 and 2- halves. and really without FSU I don't know if I want more than 10 if the bowl game contract does not require it. Also if BE can just get rid of UL I think the payday will be larger for TV contract because RU and UConn will fall in line with a GOR, UL won't.
  11. Also being on NBC national helps Strong recruit nationally (Florida) easier than currently in BE. UL's last game in Hattiesburg on CBS Sports. And this next weeks game vs Pitt is on ESPNU at 1100 am. This is a lot like WVU is seeing in national viewership on FX in Big 12. 1st game was Marshall at noon on FX 2nd game has been the only game WVU was on Tier 3 Root Sports against JMU which was at FedEx field and made WVU $2.3mil 3rd Maryland again on FX at noon 4th Baylor on FX at noon 5th UT on Fox night game 6th TexTech on AbC at 3:30 What this means is more recruits in Texas and Florida gets to see WVU games, also what is happening with the time zone differences WVU is getting a lot of viewership (other Big 12 team fans watching games, Big East will see this happen also)
  12. What if it's not just UConn going going after a ND/ACC deal what if it is also RU and UL, hoping that someday ND football joins. UL could afford to do this, money wise, and is a big enough draw television wise for a network to pay a few million a year for football games. They would also be able to schedule better teams since after 2014, the new rating system will cause harm if you don't play a FBS team. With this deal UL becomes more of a national brand like a mini ND. I think this has a real shot with UL more so than UConn for multiple reasons. UL will probably be the more sexy BBall team now that Calhoun is gone. UL will keep Charlie Strong a lot longer if he is in a conference other than Big East or in an Conf/Indy national team. Jurich wil not sign a Grant of Rights for UL, this is why NBC is possibly not were the BE lands. I think between this GOR not going to be signed and the fact ESPN only cares about 5 BE programs is why ESPN is low balling.
  13. 5 ACC games puts 2 @ home, therefore once every 6 years you get every ACC team at home on NBC. UConn will also schedule 3 BCS teams on home/home to increase SOS for other teams, (games against on FBS will deteroriate after 2014) probably Rutgers will be scheduled yearly rivalry for both recruiting purposes gives 2 other BCS games. Other BCS teams would probably be PSU, WVU, and a few other Big 10 teams recruiting NY/NJ. So UConn would need 4 more games a year from none BCS teams (Best of the Rest) this would include BE (not saying I agree) since in 2014 they are not a bowl game guarantee. ECU would do a yearly home/home, Cincy/USF on regular basis or other BE teams, add some Mac / Conf USA teams. This means Uconn would have 6 home games and for $3 million from NBC to add to ND games (lead in) with the chance at seeing some good ACC in eye populated east coast is a great value at $500k per game.
  14. Is UConn really worried about Football? It's basketball team brings in the TV money with ACC and it's football team makes a few million from NBC a year, therefore it would be more than $8 mil proposed and if ND ever joins ACC in football, so does UConn. At USF football drives the bus, at Uconn it doesnt.
  15. If this is true, there has to be some kind of tortuous interference here. Additionally, ESPN would not be negotiating in good faith by having such a blatant conflict of interest. And isn't this the same thing that happened with Pitt/Cuse, and why WVU got in Big 12 because Fox/UT wanted us over UL?
  16. Some tweets in regards to BE contract MHver3 â€@MHver3 Espn/BigEast negotiations breaking apart. Espn not budging $8 mil for all sports members. NBC not a certainty at this point though. MHver3 â€@MHver3 Several cable companies are expressing interest in buying a la carte. TBS/TNT, Spike, USA, all interested. Some tweets in regards to more Realignment MHver3 â€@MHver3 Been hearing some rumblings that Uconn may join ACC in Olympic only and have a similar football scheduling deal that ND has. Indy in FB MHver3 â€@MHver3 Espn telling B12 that Rutgers\Ville adds more value to the conference than 2 former members did and 4 current members My opinion still stands ESPN wants and is trying to gut BE, will they expand I dont know, but I like USF better due to Florida and recruiting but Networks like TVs and eyes for Rutgers, they will pick Rutgers, but ESPN with Fox will need to give at least $24-25 million a year (additional $4-5 million over current contract) to take UL/RU and add a conference title game. That means RU and UL add would between $88-100 mil a year. But that is money ESPN would not be paying the BE, because if they can get RU & UL to Big 12, with UConn taking a deal like ND and going independent on NBC along with ND (they will make more than $8 mil a year in BE), then ESPN WINS! Also with Uconn and ND in ACC bball does Nova and GT get an invite to take ACC Bball to 18 teams a year? Also maybe why NBC is not interested is because a team like UL (who holds the league together) wont sign the GOR that NBC wants. I still would like to pay FSU's buyout and add them and UL, which would give RU to ACC and would still allow above to happen. I also believe Big 12 screwed up not jumping all over FSU and Clemson/Maryland sooner. The FSU/Clem game doubled the viewers of OU/KSt this weekend.
  17. No, USF is to good of a program to do this no matter what you feel right now, a win over Bama yes, FSU right now no.
  18. Boy your really going to be upset if Big 12 expands to 12 and its UL and Rutgers.
  19. Houston almost made a BCS game last year till a loss in its Championship game, and in 2014 Cincy, UL, USF, UCF would be "BCS" busters because they would not be AQ schools, again the article is not well written for its content, but is ment for two year outlook, which gives a 7th BCS game and thus a BE possible tie in like Aresco wants. Ben is WVU tied and tied with PFT with Florio, again why a lot of info was coming out. I also saw that ESPN/BE deal is -~$200 mil a year right now as max, however that breaks down per school.
  20. The report may not be well written but comes from a reliable honest media member.
  21. Why if the article attached is true in figures would be why, If BE signs with ESPN for all three tiers in the amount of $4-8.5 million a year, versus $23 mil (added value included) for Tier 1&2 with FSU, along with another $4-6 mil to own their own Tier 3 right would equal approximately $27 mil. Therefore UL would make another $18.5 mil a year being in the BIG 12 for ~ 12 years, therefore throwing out $20-25 mil upfront is nothing for them with their contracts with YUM, and Papa Johns and the money they make off basketball. Also if UL does not get out I feel UL thinks that Coach Strong is gone, recruiting will diminish and fans will spen less money.
  22. If Big12 expands its UL and one of the three USF, RU, FSU. If Big 12 can get FSU with a $50 mil or less buyout, I still see that as an option, but a lot of the money would need to be gifted to FSU. Rumors of ESPN & Fox giving an extra $3-4mil for tiers 1&2 are still out there for 12 team league and championship game. I think expansion only happens with FSU unless Champions bowl & Sec require it, that is why I think UL throws money at their buyout and half of FSU's to get out, because they can afford it. Also did see McMurpheys tweet for this article on divisions and money for BE http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/8398279/big-east-conference-divided-14th-football-member-sources-say
  23. Yeah but that $$ is tied to Memphis and the Liberty Bowl... at best we could use the money to overhaul the Liberty Bowl and make it into a world class venue. True, there is not many southern stadiums available on New Years Day. I really wish we could get the Chicken Bowl in Atl but the SEC and ACC have that all set. We could have some association with the Feista Bowl. All of this will show what the new commish is all about. It's looking like the Fiesta is being proposed as a Big 12 / PAC 12 game on Fox, (note still in works so no links)
  24. Bull winkle is right the "Champions Bowl between SEC & Big 12 is looking at a payout of ~80 mil for the two leagues, so WVU could see as much as $4 mil addition revenue a year even if it is not playing in it if bowl game money is split evenly between teams in a conference.
