  1. I think we should have a vote on keeping or changing our offensive scheme. BJ may not be the best QB, but he is athletic and can make plays happen if given the opportunity. However, the coaches failed to make any changes on offense that are geared towards his strengths and we are paying for that now and so is he.
  2. Doesn't Skip Holtz preach about player competition? I haven't seen a true competition at QB. It's either Floyd/Eveld are very very far behind BJ in practice or Holtz is scared to try another QB in a gametime situation. Time will tell how this turns out, but I feel bad for the players who have potential with the proper coaching and playcalling.
  3. I said DON'T RUN" on the very first play of the game and sure enough they run and lose 4 yards. After screaming the whole first half to not run on first down the guys in front of us started yelling it by the second quarter I thought maybe in my frustration last night, I might have exageratted things in my mind, but here is the play by play from ESPN's box score on our first downs in the first half: Run -2 yards Run +1 yards (Rutgers Penalty added on) Run +1 yards (Fumble - recovered by USF for +4 total gain) Run +1 yards Run -1 yards Run +2 yards Pass +44 yards Run -3 yards Pass +9 yards Run 0 yards Run +4 yards Pass incomplete (Davis drop on the sidelines before half) So for the first half on first down that was: 9 rushes for 3 yards (or 0.33 yards per carry) 2-3 pass attempts for 53 yards So after a whole half to contemplate whats working and whats not, our very first offensive possesion in the 2nd half and on first down we do what? Run for 2 yards up the middle again. excellent breakdown. it's painful to watch. there is no imagination to the play calling If we can pull up these stats and digest the information, why can't the coaching staff? What are they going to do next game? They will most likely come out and do the exact same thing. I don't think they game plan on offense. They run the same plays in the same order over and over and over all season long. I hope they come out throwing a little more next game and BJ can hit the short passes to move the ball. Then, toss in some running plays and go from there. It has to start somewhere and it doesn't seem to start in the backfield.
  4. It seems like our defensive play calling was soft. No, real blitz packages, so Nova had all day to throw the ball. Also, the middle of the field was open all game for Rutgers. Every game we played this season, our opponents had a really high 3rd and 4th down conversion percentage against us. Our offense struggles with the easy pass due to multiple reasons: BJ's inconsistencies on mid-range passes, the O-lines lack of blocking at times (BJ holding the ball too long doesn't help) and we can't establish a run game to open up the pass game. I think our coaches are to blame for not coming up with a good offensive game plan. They had spurts of drives against Rutgers in the 2nd half, but where is that at the beginning of the game? We only established about 1.5 drives that entire game. The rest was throwing bombs and/or 3 and outs. Why are we still not ready to snap the ball before the play clock runs out? Why are we having special teams mishaps, with 5 coaches overseeing ST's? This does not add up to a team that will be ready to win a conference. The record at the end of this season will tell us a lot about our coaching staff. I'll have to wait and see...
  5. Their secondary is extremely soft. With our WR talent and our Oline finally blocking up front, we should be attacking them through the air. Lamar is looking good in the backfield and he should get more touches if our passing game picks up. Score on our first drive and get one defensive stop right away and it's going to be a good game.
  6. I agree, Ghost. Our defense needs another stand here. The 2nd half will be interesting.
  7. Pistol offense is confusing our D. Let's hope Cosh can make some adjustments. Griffin has to catch that pass on the 1st drive and help our defense out.
  8. To access the chat room via my iPhone, will I need the app? I don't see the chat on the regular mobile version of the forum.
  9. I'm a Cowboys fan and love the win. I had to get that out of the way first, lol. The Giants coaching staff was trying to use JPP inside more, because that is what gave Romo the most trouble last year. So, they would have JPP pull around and come up the middle. He did a good job at that and was constantly pushing the Cowboys O-line backwards into Romo's face. But, he didn't have as many chances to get a sack. Romo played a great game and JPP also drew some holding calls coming off the end. Another thing I noticed is that the Cowboys LT got like 3 or 4 false starts (he was scared of JPP beating him).
  10. They showed 2 people holding up their Rocky Rag's on the jumbotron.
  11. He definitely dropped a pass on a slant route accross the middle. But, in his defense, the pass was a little late. He still should've caught it though. Also, he was on the kickoff team.
  12. Whoa, I ain't getting involved in this scuffle!
  13. 1) USF 2) 42-10 3) Demetris Murray 4) Andre Davis 5) 401 Total Yards Special teams play will be much improved over last season. I say either Lamar or Mitchell will take 1 to the house! Andre Davis will get the most yards of the receivers, with a lot of others WR's getting thrown to as well. It will be close in rushing yards between Shaw and Murray, but Murray will edge him out as the Senior fighting for playing time. USF takes the game 42-10! Go Bulls!
  14. I agree with CousinRicky. One of his greatest features could be his attitude and willingness to work hard. All of my family members who watched the Elite 11 mentioned the same thing. Keep up the good work Mr. Woulard and we look forward to his leadership here at USF!
  15. Yeah, it sounds like he will have a lot to worry about this year. Hopefully the guys up front can get with the program and give him some protection. There might be a lot of quick passes if his line can't give him enough time to throw the ball. Let us know how it goes tonight. I won't be able to make this one, but I would like to go to a couple of games this year.
  16. Let's see Asiantii do work tonight against East Ridge!! Is anyone going to make out to this game, or any of his games, to support our future QB in his senior year?
