  1. Uhhh. Last night Malik Davis had 193 yards 17 carries and 4 TDs.............by halftime.
  2. I think I once backed out on two different girls before Homecoming my senior year. It's tough as a 17/18 year old to make a decision two weeks away, much less one that would be 18 months away. He obviously really likes USF, just is getting alot of pressure (understandably). Hopefully we win big this year and he stays with Coach T, but it's so far away.
  3. Question - If he transfers somewhere now, he would have to sit out for the year, correct? Would he be classified a redshirt Junior then or would he still be a redshirt sophomore like Woulard. If so, it looks like he would be a 22 year old sophomore at that point. 2014/2015 - Redshirt 2015/2016 - DNP Injury 2016/2017 - Transfer
  4. COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — Missouri running back Trevon Walters has been dismissed from the team after he was accused of stealing and arrested. Coach Barry Odom announced the dismissal Monday, saying the 21-year-old redshirt sophomore had violated team rules. The dismissal comes after he was suspended indefinitely following his arrest Friday in Columbia on suspicion of stealing and fraudulently using a credit or debit card. Boone County Sheriff's Department records show Walters was booked into the county jail and later released on $5,500 bail. No charges have been filed against the Bradenton, Florida, native. He doesn't have a listed phone number. Walters never played a game for Missouri. He redshirted in 2014 and missed the 2015 season because of an injury. ******************************************************************************************************************************************* I'm not implying that he will end up at USF. But he is an alumni of Manatee HS where Coach T and Coach K are from. Former 3 Star Top 50 RB from the Class of 2014. http://247sports.com/player/trevon-walters-31828 http://www.espn.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/173348/trevon-walters
  5. Officially a USF Bull according to his twitter account. Former teammate of Elijah Mack. https://twitter.com/GrantPolk?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^author http://247sports.com/player/grant-polk-43015 http://www.espn.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/190679/grant-polk http://www.streakingthelawn.com/football/2016/4/23/11494200/virginia-football-grant-polk-transfer-offensive-tackle "Redshirt freshman Grant Polk announced on Twitter today that he has been granted an unconditional release from Virginia Football. Originally a three-star recruit, Polk called it "the hardest decision I've ever had to make," as he now looks for another school that can help him develop both athletically and academically. Here's a transcript of the picture: I would like to announce that I have been given an unconditional release from the University of Virginia football program. This was a difficult decision for me ad my family and not one we have taken lightly. I would like to thank all of the UVA football staff and fans for all the support they’ve given me in the last year that I’ve been here. I will forever cherish the brotherhood and friendships I’ve made while here and wish nothing but the very best for my teammates and the entire program. At this point I’m looking for a school that can help me realize my full potential athletically and academically. Polk had enrolled in January 2015 and participated in spring practice last year, but did not appear in any games last season. This comes just after Mendenhall had told the ACC media that he was pleasantly surprised that there wasn't as much attrition as he was expecting. The loss leaves Virginia's offensive line shallow. We'll be able to see a little more of the OL in action during today's Spring Football Festival."
  6. At this point, I just hope we can beat FSU at home before this decision is made.
  7. Dwayne Lawson transferring from Virginia Tech. USF was a finalist along with Miami, Ole Miss, and VT. From Hillsborough High School in Tampa. http://www.richmond.com/sports/college/schools/virginia-tech/article_515adbc2-1fc7-58d6-b468-ca885fd43a2a.html By MIKE BARBER Richmond Times-Dispatch Dwayne Lawson, once a heralded top prospect at quarterback, now is leaving the Virginia Tech football program with just nine college passes to his name. Tech announced Friday that Lawson has been granted his release from the Hokies’ program and will enroll at Hutchinson Community College (Kansas) upon completion of his summer course work. “Our coaches and staff at Virginia Tech invested significant effort in providing Dwayne the support and resources to be successful as a both a student and an athlete, as did Coach Beamer and his staff,” said Tech coach Justin Fuente in a statement released by the school. “After conversation with Dwayne, he felt leaving our football program would be in his best interest. We wish Dwayne the best at Hutchinson Community College.” Lawson took part in the Hokies’ first fall practice Thursday. In the portion that was open to the media, Tech’s third-string offense had to re-run a play he was quarterbacking when Lawson, twice, went through his progressions without delivering a pass. That prompted new offensive coordinator Brad Cornelsen to yell at Lawson, “throw the ball.” A source said the previous coaching staff thought Lawson hadn’t mastered the offense last season and that’s why his playing time was limited. Lawson, a 6-foot-6, 231-pound sophomore from Tampa, Fla., played in five games last year and threw just nine passes in a limited role, completing three of them for 51 yards. He threw seven of those passes in the Hokies’ 42-3 win over Furman in the second game of the season. Lawson came out of Hillsborough High ranked as the No. 7 dual-threat quarterback in the nation by Rivals, and the No. 29 quarterback overall by Scout. He was part of a quarterback competition this spring that involved senior Brenden Motley and junior college transfer Jerod Evans, who emerged as the leaders for the job, and freshman Josh Jackson and walk-on Jack Click (Deep Run High School). This fall, the Hokies added another walk-on from the Richmond area, Chase Mummau, a former Lee-Davis High School standout, to the quarterback lineup. The Roanoke Times reported Friday that a source indicated Lawson was expected to face a suspension of some length for failing a drug test.

  9. Wish it said July 2016, but I'm still pleased with the positive press.
  10. Great article on expansion. https://frankthetank.me/2016/07/29/the-return-of-conference-realignment-summer-of-big-12-cya-expansion/ " If the Big 12 really believes that getting into the Florida market is truly what is best for their long-term interests, then it ought to add both of UCF and USF. Otherwise, adding only one of those schools is simply going to provide a Florida outpost on paper without really gaining any legitimate market share. The league simply can’t compete in the state of Florida in a half-assed manner with such dominant pre-existing competition from the SEC and ACC. Once again, market share means much more than market size in this particular analysis. This is an all-or-nothing proposition for the Big 12.
  11. I would rank B12 Expansion as follows: 1) BYU 2) Cincy 3) Houston 4) USF 5) UCF 6) UConn 7) Memphis 8) Colorado State But I also don't know if they would take just one Florida school. And while I have USF above UCF, there is no way to know if the B12 presidents feel the same way. I think they are just too close to split and that is why I think it's both or neither. So I think that we need to hope that BYU doesn't pan out and that they decide to take options 2-5 on my list. But my opinion is worth nothing.
  12. Rice was fired from UNLV back in January and is now an Assistant Coach at Nevada. I'd have to think that this would be a tough role to hire for. The facilities are good, but who knows how many players we will be able to retain. They could essentially be starting from near scratch without considering any additional potential NCAA penalties.
  13. http://kentucky.247sports.com/Bolt/Report-South-Florida-working-on-buyout-for-Orlando-Antigua--46466816 The LoboLair‏@TheLoboLair Heard from multiple people South Florida is working on buyout for Antigua.
  14. "Growth potential matters: Oklahoma President David Boren, chairman of the Big 12 board of directors, has stressed the value of emerging programs and cited TCU as an example during its Big 12 tenure. That makes it notable that the Wall Street Journal placed a higher value on existing football programs at Central Florida ($94.65 million for a program that started in 1979) and South Florida ($92.55 million for one that began in 1997) than it did on established Big 12 programs at Baylor ($89.69 million) or West Virginia ($81.8 million). UCF (enrollment 60,767) and South Florida (48,793) probably bring more to the table than most fans in Texas realize." http://www.star-telegram.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/jimmy-burch/article92191482.html
  15. It's not on the students. USF drew well when we were in a BCS conference. http://www.gousfbulls.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=204767028 Expecting people to show up for games against SMU, Tulsa, Tulane, etc when they were used to WVU, Pitt, Louisville etc is a challenge. Not to mention that our getting dropped from a BCS conference happened at the same time as the Skip Holtz debacle.
  16. Seems odd that he is asking for a top 5 edit if he is ready to make a decision. Although, he seems to retweet virtually every tweet that is sent to him so he appears to be certainly enjoying the attention that is brought about through the recruiting process and likely knows that most of that fanfare goes away once he commits. My understanding is that he found out his original offer from UF was no longer available for commitment, so he is looking at his next preferred options. I believe that USF is at the top of that list, but don't understand why he is delaying his decision unless he is just holding out for that UF offer or just enjoys the attention. Either way, he is one heck of a player, seems like a very nice young man, and I'd love to see him join the Bulls!
  17. This is exactly why USF and UCF help out here. WVU can kill two birds with one stone with scheduling if they can hit both schools back to back, which you would imagine would get scheduling priority from the conference to make it work for WVU.
  18. According to ESPN’s report, the players involved are said to be players that played in the 2015-16 season. Are you saying that we might have to forfeit ALL of our wins from the 2015 - 2016 season? That would be devastating.
  19. Welp. Houston is in. Which means that both UCF and UCF are likely out if they only go to 12. Our only shot is that they go to 14 and take USF & UCF, IMO. I just can't see them taking just one Florida school. Greg Fenves ‏@gregfenves 45m45 minutes ago As we look at opportunities for Big 12 expansion, I support considering @UHouston for the conference. UH is a huge asset for Texas .
  20. The Big 12 is smart enough to know that this is a long term play for growth and revenue. This too shall pass. If we were one of the 4 prior to this news, we will still be one of the 4 even with this news.
  21. The downside of them potentially going to 4 is that who ever is left out (USF, UCF, Cincy, UConn, Memphis) is in a world of hurt! (I think Houston will eventually land in the Pac 12 if not in the Big 12). Terrible TV contracts and a watered down league. The fall would be toughest for USF, Cincy, or UConn since each has already had a taste of BCS life. Just terrible to even think about. I can't.....
  22. If I were a betting man, here would be my assumption. #1 The Big 12 will expand to 14 teams. It's clear that the SEC, ACC and Big 10 seem locked in at 14 teams and that appears to be the magic number. Since adding 2 or 4 teams of equal worth makes little difference, the value add to bringing in four teams is that these 4 new programs can obtain the benefit of Big 12 standing which will help them grow quicker from a recruiting, donation, prestige, etc standpoint. #2 I believe Houston will be in. While I'm sure the other Big 12 teams don't want to add another Texas school, the reality is that having them join the Pac 12 does more damage then keeping them in the Big 12. Why allow Houston to obtain the prestige of being a Big 5 team while offering students an opportunity to play in a different conference (like A&M in the SEC). It's a big school with potential, might as well keep that revenue in house. #3 I honestly believe that USF AND UCF will get invited. I don't care what Cincy, Colorado State, and Memphis fans state, these are the two schools with the biggest upside. Potential TV Market, Alumni Base, Recruiting Market. I think they can both make strong arguments. USF is now the #3 premier public university, has more research revenue, and is in a larger TV market. UCF has the largest school in the nation, an on-campus stadium, and a recent BCS bowl win (which appears to carry more weight than a 0 win season for some reason). Regardless, both should be in if they go to 14. #4 Cincy. I don't like it. But they make an okay travel partner for WVU. They are solid at FB and BB. Have a nice on-campus stadium. Decent TV market. Not sure the upside is as strong as Houston, USF, or UCF, but I think they get the nod. #5 BYU and Colorado State just make more sense for the Pac 12 eventually. Boise State is just too small of a market and it's just not going to happen for them. #6 UConn - Gotta feel bad for UConn if this is how it plays out. They deserve to be in a P5, but they might get squeezed out just based on location and dominoes not falling their way. #7 Memphis - I get that Memphis is a decent TV market and is closer in proximity. I get that BB has been stronger than Houston, USF, and UCF. But the academics are a non-starter. Not to mention that Memphis has had a significant FB head start over USF and UCF and they have very little to show for it. The upside just doesn't seem there to me. That's my two cents. Make it happen Judy!
  23. "I would say that we are looking for members that will grow over time as we grow," Bowlsby said, "that will bring stability to the conference and that have a high top end, will benefit from an affiliation with the schools that are currently in our conference." Can anybody think of any schools that have a chance to grow over time and have a high top end?
