  1. So who has the better OCS - UCF or FAU? My vote is FAU.
  2. I think everyone has made it pretty clear that we will build the OCS just like we have been building all of our other new facilities- wait until we can afford to build it as a top tier stadium, nothing like the tin can in orlando.
  3. So what are our realistic chances of landing this kid if he transfers?
  4. Our indoor practice facility is going to be very nice, much better than UCF's cheaply built building. Hopefully we have it within the next 4 years.
  5. If RJS looked like this for EVERY game, I wouldn't have a problem with it. Unfortunately this happens only once a year, and only when we play a high quality opponent. If only every game was like Kansas in 08(still my fav game), Cincy in 09, Miami last year, and WVU last year. Agreed. RJS is too big for us.
  6. Even if we end up having more season ticket holders this year, dont expect that to carry over and be the same next season (unless we win a Big East championship). Most of this is due to FSU.
  7. Lets get the Indoor Field House built (We still would have had the first day of practice today if we had one), get tennis a new stadium, and then get the OCS. There will need to be some worked done on the corner of Holly and Maple if that is where it will be. They can begin that work in the next couple of years while we get the other facilities built. I think we have an OCS within 10 years.
  8. Temple is nailing them left and right. This is an argument that comes up a lot. The caliber of player we'd want to be nationally relevant isn't choosing USF because we play in a NFL stadium. Not same some recruits don't like it, because I'm sure they do, I'm just not convinced that it's a game changer. We only use it on game days and a couple walk throughs. It's not like the kids are hanging there on the weekdays. RJS neither helps us or hurts us. It's more of a fan thing. They take the recruits to Ray Jay. They hold events there with them. Its a sales point. And when you see videos of the recruits that visit, on the pay sites, when they talk about their visits, its brought up all the time, how impressed they were with it. Ray Jay is most definitely in the pitch to recruits. Not only that, if you watched the Big East Media day, opponents were asked the game they most look forward to and most said...playing in Tampa at Ray Jay. I think recruits would be more impressed with having an OCS. The game day atmosphere, which they experience as recruits on visits, would be astronomically better being on campus. When they come to the stadium on campus, they know that it's their stadium, not a stadium they share with a more popular team in town. An OCS would have to be at least mildly comparable, which I think Athletics will be able to do by waiting until the time is right in the next decade and finance the right way. End of the day, Ray Jay may help seal the deal to some recruits, I think an OCS would help seal the deal better. JMO.
  9. Get him on campus and we will worry about the details later
  10. Almost. They did give the green light without full funding of the facilities. For example, the Muma Center still needs funding to complete the hospitality lounge. The Sun Dome still needs funding to complete the Hardwood Club. Soccer took a full year before they got the scoreboard. I understand what you are saying, but I was more along the lines of they didn't just build the facilities on the cheap and take on major debt like UCF did. Those are some touch up's per say.
  11. I have full confidence Athletics knows exactly what they are doing. They have built our new facilities the right way. They waited until they could afford to build each facility to top-notch quality. I expect them to do the same with an OCS.
  12. Yeah, USC and Miami have suffered terribly by not having an OCS. The Orange Bowl was basically UM's stadium once Joe Robbie was built. The Coliseum is basically on campus of USC, right across the street. They dont have an NFL team playing there that they have to share with. So you're argument is null.
  13. I think the Commish is great but I'm just not sure of the pairing with Shelton. Shelton should have his own show or be paired with someone more similar like the other Times guys are ... I agree. Not a big fan of Shelton. He's kind of a goof ball. I would have rather seen The Commish have his own show, or pair up with JP Petersen.
  14. I really hope Heath is on the horn with Clanton as we speak. As Velcro said, this kid could be the missing piece for our team. If he comes aboard, who knows how far we could go in the NCAA Tournament this year, as well as the Big East. Lets make it happen, Coach.
  15. I think the shows will get better. The new station is what, 4 days old? The hosts have to build some chemistry with each other. I have not once been to "that other station" since noon Thursday of last week. The Commish is the man, and if you havent heard him, tune in from 10am-2pm. A USF alum, loves the Bulls and proudly promotes them through his show and on social media.(Im not a spokesman for him btw, just really like his show and think hes a good radio show host)
  16. Let me add on that the tennis complex will be moved down Sycamore behind the Softball Stadium, so with the removal of the parking lot, Maple and Holly would have plenty of room. If more room is need, Holly can be readjusted to go a little further in to Greek Village where there is a lot of open space close to where the pool is and behind Sig Ep and Sigma Nu
  17. I feel like the OCS would be closer to the corner of Maple and Holly. The corner of Sycamore and Holly is where the new IM fields are for students, so the stadium wont be there. The ground level parking lot om the corner of Maple and Holly should be removed and the stadium could be placed there, as I feel there is plenty of room for an OCS at that location. Also, the corner of Maple and Holly is sitting on top of a "hill" so to speak as you can see a lot of the campus looking southwest from that corner, which could be good if we decided on a horeshoe style stadium that would over look the campus (which I hope we decided on a full bowl style stadium).
  18. Can someone explain what these different "Tiers" are for TV rights for football games with conferences? I dont understand it and I keep hearing about it, so any knowledge would be appreciated.
  19. Myself and two buddies are in the Level 1 end court. Went and actually sat in our seats when we selected them. Lets just say anywhere you sit, you will have a great line of sight. I've been to the Bud Walton Arena and Dean Smith Center, and the Sun Dome is definitely now in the same realm as those famed arenas.
  20. If the student section became smaller with an OCS, it wouldn't matter. It's not like we fill anywhere near the 12,501 seats allotted to the students anyways. So maybe having a smaller student section with an OCS will help create more of a demand among the student body. Tickets become a premium for the ones that do want to attend, and this would also make the students actually attend.
  21. Greg, any info on this from athletics? You're the inside man, get us some inside info
  22. A bowl type would be my preference. Having said that, I like Doak better than the Swamp. The Swamp is tacky with the Orange everywhere and the paining on those large walls where they were pieced together. I know Doak is mostly an erector set on the inside, but its absolutely beautiful with the brick facade on the outside. It looks built as one, not pieced together. Regardless, USF needs to start planning for this, and it looks like they have begun.
  23. To know that they are doing a feasibility study is great news. This NEEDS to happen under the right conditions. Game days on campus would be out of this world. The culture of the university would change dramatically. Hopefully this means we have donors lined up ready to write some checks and some sponsors ready to throw their name up in the stadium. I understand this is still probably 8-10 years out, but hey, this is a step in the right direction.
  24. I noticed that too. Hopefully its because its a new studio and they are still working on it. I already love the station.
