  1. Jim Leavitt left the cupboard bare. Skip is trying to build us back up ********. Skip can't coach. That's it. Who on this defense is making an impact that skip brought in? Its year 3. He has had time to bring someone in if the excuse is that he had no one. Yours is broken Sorry, yep, missed it.

  3. This is embarrassing. Skip needs to go. This team WS on the rise under Lea ITT, and Skip has completely killed that momentum in 3 years. Ridiculous.
  4. They will have access to it, you just may need to talk them into putting it on.
  5. What a night. I can't believe it has been 5 years. Second most fun I have ever had at a game. The WVU game after that one takes the cake, but, I still get chills thinking about that win. The stadium was rockin', then, silence. Oh... Happy Birthday MG.
  6. Well, Pitt lost to Youngstown State last week, so I'd say its at least partly due to their suckage.
  7. For me... I thought it was insane to RS Lamar anyway. All we did was keep him rusty and cost him some stats against what should have been a cupcake. But... That's just me. We are not a running team really, haven't been since Hall graduated, so, I am not too concerned about that position going forward. Would be great to recruit a star, but, not the top priority every recruiting season.
  8. Collinsworth has a major man-crush on him. Rivaling my man-crush on AC... look at that, its football season and I am actually still thinking hoops as well... that's positive...
  9. Huge factor in one of our best wins ever (FSU)... I am think he deserves a spot. He may have come back too if not for some personnel changes in the off season... same for Mitchell, I don't hold anything against those guys.
  10. Jenkins went to a pro-bowl...late addition I think....JPP may be the only one officially voted in.
  11. we couldn't average 3 yards per carry and we barely had 300 yards of total offense. if they had scored a TD on that first and goal from our 4 in the 2nd quarter instead of missing a field goal then it would have been a 1 score game in the 4th quarter. IF worms had machine guns birds wouldn't .... with them. yeah and if you closed your eyes and didn't pay attention you would think we controlled that game. at no point in that game did I not think we were destined to win by a few scores -- maybe not the prettiest of wins or a blowout some expected (without looking more closely at the opponent). We've had years where we did not play that well against the opening FCS opponent that turned out great. Some of that was Leavitt not wanting to give away our play book. But mostly it was our guys just not being up for the game. As in years past, I can't extrapolate from this game and know what to expect from our team this year. As much as people are beating up our OL -- and sure, they deserve it -- they had some pretty decent guys lining up on their DL. That is an area of concern but again, I'm not going to worry about it. I'm much more concerned about our defensive secondary. time will tell. screw Fennelly. Go Bulls I'm not projecting anything about this year for whether we win or lose. It's the way the game is coached that bothers me. Fitch isn't creative and he and Holtz can make some dumb decisions at times. we have tried to throw the ball inside our own 20 with under 2 to play many times unsuccessfully. 4 that i remember and they were picked resulting in 3 TDs for opponents. why?? when we have it 2nd and goal at cincy 2 yard line with 20 seconds and 2 timeouts left we sit on the ball and settle for field goal. it makes no sense. I was hoping to see a coaching staff that wanted to throttle their opponent. I wanted to see a well prepared team that came out firing on all cylinders. defense-great. special teams-great. offense-meh. executed well to begin the game but didn't put the opponent away. That's his M.O. He doesn't put teams away. he sits on leads. I thought he would have learned from last year and all the 4th quarter leads we gave up. Hard to argue with your assessment of the coaching/decision making. Holtz hasn't sold me on being the guy yet going into his third year. Maybe it's just a Leavitt hangover I'm feeling. Still kinda pissed how USF handled CJL. You cannot play conservatively in college ball. You lose any and all momentum every time you do. It kills me to watch this brand of football where we try to sit on any lead against whoever instead of continuing to pile on with effective offense and crushing defense. It would be one thing if we went to a grind-them-into-the-dirt running game with a two score lead. But we do stupid stuff like quitting on a running game in the middle of a drive while we are running out the clock only to throw a few incompletes and punt away the ball giving the other team a shot at coming back at us. Very frustrating to watch this style of football. Note that these comments are not directed towards the last game but more about the last two seasons I am Orlando Bull and I approve this message. All of it. As for the game, our "offense" came from busted coverage, much like the FSU game in 09. I don't see a precision passing game in our future. I hope I'm wrong because I think we'll face 8-10 better secondaries this season.
  12. OK, when I see this thread title, all I can think is this... (some language, maybe not the best for the little ones) Not that I necessarily feel this way, just what comes to mind for this thread, maybe it will lighten the mood a bit.
  13. Come on, I wasn't at all worried about a BS call on an illegal forward pass after Elon... I wasn't at all worried that Johnson, Jackson, and Hester would all get hurt at the same time and Grothe would be throwing to Mitchell (FR), and that WR/QB transfer from Auburn during the Cincy game only to have Mitchell drop the game winning TD. Those were not the things I was worried about in the Elon game. The injuries are what they are, we didn't have depth, but at that point in our history, it wasn't possible to have depth. Beyond that... if you told me we'd get to 9 wins this season... after what I saw last night... I'd take it.
  14. what?? this is greek to me. 40-7 isn't kicking teeth in? Like the previous poster said throwing the ball inside your own 20 with under 2 minutes to play in the half is beyond moronic. And if he'd handed off 3 times there you'd have been ******** about not gong for the throat of an inferior opponent, because ******** is what you do .... Why anybody even bothers to try to engage you on stuff like this is mind boggling. I won't say which is right or wrong. I kind of like the practice of a 2-minute drill there, but, the handoff on first down kind of defeats that purpose. Anyway, this is a huge difference between our coaches. The ONLY time I can remember Leavitt going for a score in a meaningless game at the end of a half was UCF in 2007. We were already drubbing them and Grothe/Johnson talked him into going for the throat. Other than that, Leavitt was very conservative in games like this one. He extended the clock and tried to reduce opportunities for getting guys hurt. Skip has consistently done this. If/when it works out, we'll all be happy. And quite honestly, yesterday didn't matter, but, do you remember the Florida game when we were pretty much in control until Skip decided to let BJ start throwing the ball toward the end of the half? We had been running the ball very very well and then all of the sudden, he decided that we should go for the dagger at the end of the half and it backfired. To me, Skip has this year to prove to me that he is what this program needs. But, I will say that he is probably a bit handcuffed with BJ. When he's using his legs and his full arsenal, he's a decent QB, but, I think he has a mentality of 'I need to be a big time passer' and it gets him in a lot of trouble. Maybe it's nerves, maybe he gets so excited about his opportunity to shine that he implodes. I don't know, but, I was hoping that it had changed this year and I am not seeing it. Ultimately, the interception wasn't a horrible decision, he just stared down Landi too long, then under threw the ball. Not a good combo.
  15. Stay positive, I remember game 1 in 2007, I just knew that the Auburn trip was going to be ugly, but, there was some magic in that season, hopefully there is some here too.
  16. In fairness, the coaches only gave him one shot to make a throw. It wasn't a bad pass, just stared down the receiver a bit... BJs been doing it for 4 years...
  17. At the end of the year, if he's 2:1 TD to turnover, we'll be happy... one would have expected 4:0 in this game though.
  18. Why should he be disappointed? He has been coaching this team for 3 years, and I am the on disappointed. Are we any better today than we were in Leavitt's last season? You didn't see what I saw then, they showed him after one of our penalties and he was DisAppointeD. Not saying he's not, just that he doesn't have the right to be, because he seems to be responsible for a good portion of our woes. We're the o yes getting screwed, not him, he got a contract extension.
