  1. What a giant waste of time. Hey Doug, I want an apology for a terrible event!
  2. We tipoff vs UCF in a month from today...where's the advertising at? Let's take those 'dream in green and gold' billboards down and put up something basketball related (and advertise for tickets)...tv ads...radio spots...something...
  3. They started off slow but it's been coming down quickly the past couple days.
  4. I've yet to see one senior citizen walking around Fletcher Ave. I am, however, looking forward to seeing what gets accomplished with that "Fontana Hall" property. I wish we'd get some mixed (residential/commercial) in that area. There are really no good bars within walking distance of the campus. And beforeI get tarred and feathered, I don't consider the Copper Top or CDB's "walking distance" from the residence halls. The purpose of the senior zone was not that they were crossing, but that the senior residents couldn't safely pull into traffic while driving. That's why I think its unlawful. When a person gets a drivers license, they are to be qualified to handle all the road conditions. If they can't safely pull onto Fletcher because traffic speed is too fast, then they are at fault. Plus the cops use it as a speed trap. Actually... that particular zone came about as a result of one of the residents walking out into Fletcher and getting hit and killed... happened about 12yrs ago IIRC. They've since upgraded the locks of course but that's when the changes went into effect. The Senior Zone was only created 6 years ago. http://www.campusref...g/blog/?ID=4419 Adding a side note about that area of Fletcher. I wish there was some way to redo the whole intersection between 42nd, Fletcher, and Palm Drive. I agree with you about redoing that intersection- and 42nd St, as I've voiced to the county before...need more lights/sidewalks for the amount of people that live up there.
  5. I asked about the Hoop-la event and was told there'd be info posted online yesterday but I don't see anything. I heard the exhibition is included. Tickets mailed out mid-October. If anyone is interested, John Lewis will be at the USF Alumni Netoworking event next Tuesday from 6-8 at the Alumni Center and will be discussing BB season tickets.

They redid the liquor store that was in front of the Greenery...but I don't think the bar is open behind it still. Shame, with all the new student housing right next door. Place would make $$$$$
  7. this. what is that doing there? Seriously? Its either owned by or strongly affiliated with the hospital next door to it.... John Knox isn't going anywhere. Yeah, but it absolutely kills Fletcher Avenue on our North border. Can you imagine if they could build storefronts with housing above them, make it a walking distance hangout for students. Not to mention that **** Senior Zone, which to me is unlawful and nothing more than a speed trap. They could do the storefronts with the new complex that'll be built where the Edge is/was.
  8. UCF seems to draw just fine- South Carolina, Texas, Missouri, ect.
  9. How did you get this? And how can we get them for every game? We often have issues at our watch parties, this would definitely help. Thanks! It's on gousfbulls.com under the game information, it shows: USF at Temple Philadelphia, Pa. | Lincoln Financial Field Sept. 30 | Noon Listen: IMG Sports Network | Watch: ABC (Tampa) The link I provided is where you're taken when you click on ABC (Tampa)
  10. From where I was I didn't see any FSU fans in the student section, but did hear that there were a few scattered in there. And please, next time we play a big opponent like this, wear green...really scratching my head after seeing so many people in white USF gear.
  11. I do know that we saw a huge increase in applications after the 2007 season. Not sure about the quality of students applying, but prospective students noticed.
  12. http://www.usforacle.com/letter-to-the-editor-loss-against-fsu-1.2771563 After witnessing the loss of USF to FSU, I felt compelled to write this quick tid-bit on my perspective of football’s impact on USF. The consequences of a losing football team: 1. Prepare to see more students wearing other schools’ athletic gear, primarily in-state schools such as University of Florida and Florida State University. Prospective athletes and students touring USF will see this and reconsider applying to a university whose students do not support our school, regardless of any academic ranking we might have. This in turn will downgrade the quality of incoming students, who revert to identifying USF as a “safety school.†2. Alumni are becoming impatient, investing time, money and emotional energy into a collegiate team that is often more disappointing than not, and will reconsider diverting their resources away from a program that does not invest it in a logical manner. 3. Tampa will continue to be dominated by the influx of foreign alumni that reside here, preventing Tampa from being a college town that supports USF. Raymond James Stadium will never be home to the Bulls ever again, and will forever be dominated by colors other than green and gold. 4. Football is the greatest advertisement for any university in the South. It’s from national attention of collegiate sports that spark the interests of young people, who in turn follow teams till they are old enough to apply to the universities they admire. For USF, a school so obsessed about its image as a national powerhouse for superior research and impact, the consequences will be brutal. While football should be no reflection of the academic integrity of a school, living in the South makes it a quality. How to help solve this problem: 1. USF students must be proactive in their support for their university. Fickle allegiances cannot exist. Students must understand that as a university that’s half the age of schools like FSU and UF, there’s more pressure for us to represent the green and gold. Wearing collegiate gear that contains spears and gator heads is unacceptable, and should be greatly discouraged. 2. The USF football team. They deserve better, and our fan base deserves better. We’ve been stagnant for too long, and those murmurs have become outcries for change. We shouldn’t reward failure with contract extensions. 3. Tampa needs to support its flagship university with more intensity. For USF to thrive, Tampa must wave with fervent allegiance to the green and gold. Prospective students do not want to attend a university whose host town is not overwhelmingly receptive to its centerpiece.
  13. ABC local. https://admin.xosn.com/pdf8/949387.pdf?KEY=SSNNIMEKBGIQAFG.20120930173535&DB_OEM_ID=7700
  14. I know this probably belongs on the Alma Mater board... John Lewis from the sales team will be on hand to discuss basketball season tickets as well if you haven't locked them in yet. http://usfalumni.org/s/861/internal.aspx?sid=861&gid=1&pgid=2502&cid=6938&ecid=6938&crid=0 http://www.facebook.com/#!/events/460947260594236/ We hope that you’ll join us on Tuesday, October 9th, at the Gibbons Alumni Center for our fall networking social. During the event you’ll have the opportunity to meet and network with fellow alumni while you enjoy appetizers, beer and wine provided by the Greater Tampa Area Alumni Chapter. Guests will learn about USF’s newly established MBA in Sports and Entertainment Management program from Director Dr. William Sutton. The event will also feature displays from several university departments, including USF Athletics, as well as a table for alumni guests to advertise their business with business cards and fliers. If you have not seen the newly remodeled Sun Dome the chapter has arranged for a private tour before the event. If you would like a sneak peak at the venue before the Bulls kick-off a historic basketball season arrive at the Alumni Center at 5:30 pm. You will be transported to and from the Sun Dome for the tour. Event Details: Fall Networking Social Tuesday, October 9, 2012 6-8 pm Gibbons Alumni Center, USF Tampa
  15. One answer to when we're receiving tickets- I've been told mid-October. Don't know anything about HOOOOOP LA
  16. Of course there are going to be different stories out there, but when there are thousands of our season ticket holders getting rid of their tickets for the biggest home game of the year, it's disheartening. Friend of mine, who posts on this board, told me that two season ticket holders came to tailgate, sold their tickets for $400, and went home. Just sucked having to sit around FSU fans in a section that's always green...
  17. What's the address? I sit in 124 and don't remember HOT much at all. I do remember the warchant though....
  18. Was surprised at some of the season ticket holders that sold their tickets around us...
  19. This is the biggest game we've had since 2007....and they were very strict during that game. They'll be checking.
