I really don't have a problem with this. There's a lot of time and resources' put into a players development. But, when a player QUITS on the team and coach and walks out the door, have a nice life. I'm pretty sure that when the @The Sheriff's employee left he didn't just pick up the phone and say, "Hey, I'm out! See Ya!" in the middle of a project.
These kids want to be part of the real world, so it's high time they learn that they have to live with their decisions.
