  1. Yeah I was disappointed by that. With previous bowl games i've been to, pregame has been done by some of the high school bands invited to do the parade (something else I was disappointed that this bowl was lacking). Barring that, a flyover, parachuters, something... but let's keep in mind that the MCC Bowl is in its relative infancy as a bowl as we are as a football program, and this is its first year with Meineke as the sponsor. And yes, the intro video was awesome.
  2. And I post--you'll note it says Thread of POSITIVITY. Reading is fundamental. C'mon. Dig deep. There's nothing positive you have to say?
  3. Just want to echo these sentiments. I'm a year out of school and haven't seen the HOT since last football season and... wow. I was VERY pleased with the performance, the wall of sound you put forth, and the energy provided through the entire game. Thank you all very much. Hell, I was begging them to put in our center snare or drum major or something at QB. And as fro the Power Sound of the South? Well, never send a pep band to do a marching band's job.
  4. Um yeah, ditto. I was breaking down that same improbability ot my friend I was there with.
  5. One of my alma maters may have lost, but the other is an established record breaking DYNASTY on the chess board! http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/education/bal-te.md.chess31dec31,1,6518164.story?coll=bal-home-headlines
  6. Don't get it twisted, I don't intend to look past or sugar coat the pain we endured on the field today. Trust me, I was there, Sec. 542, row 7, seat 23 (which actually wasn't as bad a seat as it sounds). Our performance on the offensive side of the ball sucked and thank goodness for our defense--who has every right to beat the sh!t out of our offense for making them work extra hard and extra long--for at least keeping it to a manageable shut-out (if there is such a thing). But this thread's for the smiles. What was good about this weekend? What are you going to happily take iwth you about this game and this experience, despite getting schooled?I've got a few: -Except for once I realized we didn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning, I had a good time the whole trip. I got to catch up with a friend of mine and I saw more green and gold in one place than I have since I left Tampa. -Say what you want, I say we won halftime. I'm fairly certain the "Power Sound of the South" was NC State's basketball pep band who they put some uniforms on and taught how to march. Props for their ranks and song selections, but I think the HOT clearly had them, and I was MUCH impressed with their performance over the last time I saw them last football season. -$12 Chicken fingers and beer, breakfast of champions! Also, to the folks who saw the game on TV, how'd it look? Besides the obvious, or course...
  7. Ha! Good call. No beef from me with Carolina, but I definitely shuddered at the thought of a D*** kid...
  8. Back when I was an indignant young first-year at USF, this was one of my biggest pet peeves--the war on all other schools, that is. Now being older and wiser, I understand the point and am pleased that it comes from the Top Down, from President Genshaft herself. That being said, definitely know the person you're taunting repeatedly and WHY they're in the other gear. It was always my position that it was a good thing she only targeted other FL schools, because I wish a mfka WOULD try and get me out of some gear of MY alma mater. Don't get it twisted, I'm certainly a proud BULL, but I was, am, and will always be a DOG first.
  9. Also, anyone who thinks bowl games en masse are a travesty wasn't watching football today. BC-BSU wasn't bad either.
  10. Agreed.. that play, hell that GAME was bonkers... And the officiating was crap... Ten bucks says "REMEMBER THE ALAMO" hangs in the Michigan locker room next year.
  11. The News and Record? I might have to trot down to my local paper box and buy that hard copy...
  12. If we switch to Nike, let's all pray they don't ugly up our uniforms like VT, Miami, or, God forbid, Oregon...
  13. Hell, holler at ESPN as well, or at least make yourself über conspicuous in the presence of their van or something! Show 'em what's up with the real bulls out there!
  14. -Charlotte--North Carolina's REAL BULL City! )would be more of a dig of State were in Durham and not Raleigh, but it shows we own the state nonetheless) -Expect South Florida Props in the New year -Expect South Florida to Play for a National Championship (optimistic sure, but it could get you on TV and maybe get 'em talking!)
  15. Britt-- I had always thought that since Brandon had the BullDozer, you should have gotten your Mustang (I think?) converted and called it the BullWhip. :-) See y'all in Charlotte! --Curtis
  16. Anybody up in NC yet? I am (I live here) and I must say there's certainly a whole lot of NCStatriotism around here; probably just as much as there's always been, granted, but I was too busy snarling at Duke fans to notice before we were matched up against them. So how do we counteract all of this? REPRESENT!! I know I've been throwing up the Bull horns to every car and person I pass with State 'nalia on, while driving aorund in my green car with the USF Alumni sticker on the back (sure wish I had a car flag!) My office has been ever more green and gold than usual (and at another institution in the state system of NC, no less). And I've decided that from here on out, I will have no less than a USF hat on until Saturday--figuring out other attire with the rest of the USF gear I have (but saving the good GREEN until GameDay!) and wearing no red! If you're traveling towards the game, be sure to be in USF gear from the second you set foot on Charlotte-metro-area soil (or really on your plane, car, bus, bike, however you're getting here). If you're still packing for the trip, consider either packing enough for each day or picking up a hat or something that can be worn day in and day out. Let's make sure that no one we meet or establishment we patronize has any doubt in their mind that the BULLS are here!!
  17. OK, who's gonna do the honors and find Alex Trebek's e-mail address? ;D :
  18. I voted, but that's far from a scientific inquiry...
  19. I'm in Greensboro, about an hour and a half north of Charlotte, and that's about what our forecast has been for the past week or so. Got some nasty ice last week, but if the forecast holds up as predicted, that'll be real nice football weather.
  20. Hmm... that's a bit early for a Homecoming, especially all of the planning that'll go into Superbull X... hopefully it'll be later than that!
