  1. Maybe, but we didn't hire those coaches and we didn't sign this coach to a one year deal, so I am more than happy to see how things go.
  2. Not with the talent level we had, especially at QB. You might - and stress might - have been able to get wins over Temple and Memphis as those were losses by a combined 3 points. But no other head coach was going to make a difference in wins and losses on the other 6 games where we lost by an average of 28.1 points. One could argue that with a different coach, we may not have even been competitive in the Temple and Memphis games, so that argument goes both ways. But the bigger question is, why do you think winning 3 games - which is the now the acid test for your argument - an improvement since you entire argument is based on 1 win being less than 4 wins?? When I think you are being an insufferable blowhard with arguments that are weaker than North Korea's Bill of Rights, then you have really jumped the shark.
  3. Every coaching hire and situation is unique. @puc86 its okay to expect more from your team, but you are likely to be disappointed on a daily basis until such time as the program finally turns it around. Take it from someone who had to learn the hard way, being positive and having realistic goals for your entertainment is the best path to joy, otherwise your entertainment isn't following USF athletics, your entertainment is actually acts of disappointment and bitterness, and you are simply entertaining yourself to fill the void.
  4. I have to give up soda and get more active for starters. I'd gladly buy a round for this group!
  5. I have put on way to much weight during the pandemic - working remotely and 20 feet from my kitchen is not good!
  6. Agreed - one year of results during a pandemic. Have to give him the 3 years we gave CWT. And I'll pay for the drinks!
  7. I just think that if he can get us to .500 and show improvement on offense, add a 7th year to the deal. However, if he can do better than that then I would be all for a multi-year extension. Not sure what was so hard to understand about that, so hopefully me restating it helps. I'm not a troll. Trolls likely have better places to hang out at lol
  8. For a multi-year extension, I would say an NCAA bid or a deep run in the NIT. For a one-year extension I would settle for just being average - .500 conference record and an OER in or around the 50% percentile. If after 5 years, you can't do any of that in any year AND you can keep your job, then I am not sure what the goal is for MBB. Gregory deserves a statue for breathing new life into the program and should be thought of in the same way Bucs fans think of Tony Dungy - he took a wretched program and changed the culture. While he may not be able to take the program any further, he laid a foundation for whoever the next coach is.
  9. Agree - next year will be the key year. It will be interesting to see what MK deems as successful enough to warrant an extension.
  10. If this was his 1st season I totally agree, but he is completing his 4th year, so there is still ALOT to go off of. The disappointment of this season can be reasonably argued to be from things within and outside Gregory's control or influence. He will likely be back for Year 5 and I am sure expectations, regardless of who stays an who guys, will be high.
  11. 100% agree. Nothing that has occurred in the last 2 games should influence anyone's opinion of the program one way or the other. Instead your opinion should be formed on Gregory's prior 119 games and not the 2 where he was missing his two big pieces. He may be on the "mild seat" but absolutely agree he gets his 5th year, but next year the program will need to make a BIG leap. I am just not sure how that happens with the departures that will and could occur.
  12. Someone just needs to separate themselves from the pack, and it needs to happen before conference play (preferably sooner). I don't want to be in Year 4 of Scott's tenure and he is still trying to pick a QB.
  13. I don't expect him back. Its my understanding he graduates this spring and If he receives an offer to play in the LNB he will likely head back to France. My bigger concern is Murphy transferring out with players now able to transfer without having to sit out a year - that would leave Durr as our only returning starter.
  14. I don't think the region has an appetite to build a new stadium - we can't even get a transportation tax that was approved by voters going, without lawsuits derailing it. While I think the Rays are first in line for a new stadium, I could see the region letting them go, but building a new stadium for the Bucs would be the next referendum in if Tampa wants to remain a big league city. There is a long history of metro (or financially challenged) schools sharing pro stadiums, and even though its a bit dated RJS is still a good one.
  15. If you have access to ESPN+ its a good read. Gregory is mentioned here. They reference the disappointments of the last two seasons, his low buyout and not having had a winning conference record since 2009. Your comprehensive guide to the 2021 college basketball coaching hot seat Embattled Indiana coach Archie Miller is among the primary hot seat names, but could IU find a better alternative?
  16. If Gregory can find a way to keep most of this year's team intact (Yetna not heading back to France, Murphy not transferring out, either Brown/Collins return), then this team - if healthy - should be primed for a big 2021-22 season. Remember this was a team predicted to finish 4th/5th in the AAC, but was never the same team coming out of the Covid break.
  17. You know your team is bad when the announcers' summary of your season is "people are dying from Covid and there was a basketball season".
