  1. Agreed. Gregory's job as a recruiter just got 10x tougher. He has to assure parents of minority student-athletes that racism is not acceptable in any form. The fact that we have not heard from Gregory or that Gregory didn't fire Herrion is only compounding things.
  2. Well at least he gave us our pinnacle moment - the CBI Championship. I'll never forget those wins against Stony Brook, Loyola Marymount and Hidden Valley Ranch Univeristy. All joking aside what he did in less than 24 months was amazing, but i think that success, if you want to call it that, made him more stubborn.
  3. Have to agree with @Triple B on this one. Despite what you think of Scott, I think Kelly made a great hire and would like to see what he could do when hiring a new MBB coach, when that day comes.
  4. I love how people keep defending this guy in the face of mountains of ecidence that shows he how terrible he is as a coach. Now if he truley did not disciple or bubble up racists allegations on Herrion, then I cant wait for how the most devote Gregory supoorter defends him.
  5. I said two weeks ago he had played his last game for USF. I still think there is a good chance he heads back to France.
  6. He has had a winning conference record in 1 of the last 15 season so not a surprise.
  7. I agree. This is a seminal moment for Kelly. Let's give him an opportunity to display some crisis management skills. While I think he waiteda year to long on Strong, I applaud him for the Jeff Scott hire. What we need from Kelly is this: 1. As loudly as possible make it be know that any discrimination of any kind will have zero tolerance, and then back those words up by dismissing the MBB staff 2. Be vocal, visable and available to any student athlete, reporter or general student who has questions or concerns - this is where leadership matters 3. Make a hire for MBB that can rebuild the program in the image Kelly has for it If he can do all three he can come out of this as the hero. If he fails to do the first two then he is part of the problem.
  8. That "the word was going to get out soon enough". There had been grumbings in the locker room, but varying indications as to why. The fact that he is a terrible tactition is a seperate, well documented issue. While all of this happening is bad for the players, it ultimately will be a great opportunity for Kelly to hit the reset button by making his first hire for MBB. Dark days for now, but the future is now full of opportunities.
  9. This makes Kelly's job harder once he fires Gregory. He'll have to hire someone who is squeaky clean, which eliminates hiring any high upside-high risk candidates. This will be a stain on Kelly - how big will depend on how he handles this. He can probably cancel any plans on going to San Antonio now.
  10. I would have liked to see him and Murphy both start next year and run with two PG.
  11. Yeah, the NCAA has created free agency at the worst time for USF. There were open critics that decried the decision that while well intentioned because of the pandemic, would have disastrous unintended consequences.
  12. He did inherit a dumpster fire and the guy should get all the credit in the world for taking that dumpster fire to 24 wins in less than 24 months. The guy is a great fireman.
  13. What reason do we have to expect that any of the new transfers Gregory brings in will fare any better than the old ones you say he already misfired on? With there basically being free agency this off season for talent, USF is not a destination spot for any quality transfers. If Kelly keeps Gregory, I am sure Gregory will fill the squad with the best of whoever wants to come here, and he will struggle to put the pieces together (again), will likely misfire on a few of the transfers (again), run an incompetent offense (again) and will finish without a winning conference (again) record for the 12th straight season, and for the 15 of last 16 seasons he has coached. In Year 5 he needs to make the NCAAT, and he much further away from that than he was after his peak here - the CBI championship, which is a long ways away from the NCAAT and from where the program is today.
  14. Those 6 players are players Gregory recruited to come play here AND all 6 of them had at least one more year to play at USF AND all 6 players said NO. Its easy to look at each individual and why they might be leaving or diminish their impact, but I believe we will see at least 2 of the big 3 also leave. What becomes difficult to rationalize now, but you did a nice job of it, becomes impossible then.
  15. Its a fair point. Things are snowballing right now so we are projecting out and we haven't seen what Gregory may be able to put together. Although I do think Gregory's strength is in recruiting, this has to stain him to potential recruits/transfers. And even when he does get players to transfer in, he has shown no ability to fit pieces together offensively in ay competent way. This is how it ended for Bobby Paschal in 1996 - he could barely field a team at the end of the season, James Harper revolted and that was it for Paschal.
  16. I love your optimism. If only Walt Disney had your imagination, think of the things he could have done (teasing).
  17. His defense is terrible. He wanted to come to USF, be close to home and jack up 3's all day. There is no room for that in Gregory style offense/defense, which makes me wonder why we had him transfer in.
  18. He has a reported $10M buyout if he leaves Iona before the start of the 2022-23 season.
