  1. Pages upon pages of whether the recruiting stars mean anything and whether this class is bad or not, not the intent of this post. Two questions, of the guys recurited, who do you guys think will have 1. The biggest immediate impact on the team? 2. The biggest long term impact on the team. Immediate impact is Frank Harry, and long term will be Aston Samuels.
  2. FIU, McNeese State, @UCF, @Kansas, @UNC 7 Big East games
  3. He probably offered so he would remain interested after Juco or prep school.
  4. As I noted before a good class not a great one. However, some of my breakdowns of the class, for what its worth: 1. Greatly increased the depth and quality of the LBs. 2. Increased competition among the WRs, don't forget that both Taurus Johnson and Devin Hester (last year's 3-star WRs) did play and were not redshirted. I imagine this year's three WRs will have the same opportunity. 3. Lots of OL and DL size and results. A lot of all-state players at the various levels. The competition should be very fierce the next few years as these guys mature physically. 4. No absolute playmakers in the Defensive or Offensive backfields, but Aston Samuels and Jerrell Young are intriguing. 5. The eternal QB search continues. Wish Thaddeus Lewis picked us instead of Duke, but his rankings compare to Grothe's from last year. Who knows about Alwan lee. In short, a class not built for a National Championship run, but should allow us to be competitive.
  5. Carlton Hill, Carlton Williams and now Carlton Mitchell. ;D
  6. If we had a dollar for evry time you brought up UT . . .
  7. Hopefully we do not lose any and we pick up one or two.
  8. Joe, I saw that. My point is that not only are the individual player scores subjective, but when you add up players there is another subjective weight added. If I, already subjectively, rate player A and B both 3 stars and RRs of 5.5 (they are equal players), then why have another subjective weight depending on where the kid goes to school, who recruited him, how hard they recruited him etc.
  9. PJ became the QB when it became apparent he was better than Ronnie Banks. Banks became the QB after MB graduated. In short, the staff had Banks in the system backing up MB for 2 years, then had him in the spring and could not get him ready. Only then did PJ become the starter, and if I remember correctly PJ subbed in for several games when Banks could not get it done before he became the starter. If he did so well with Blackwell (I think some of that credit goes to Canales), then what happened with Banks? PJ? Hill? None of these guys could be coached to hit a short pass or make the right decisions? This is the year for Smith, put up or shut up. He has Hill, Grothe, Gregory, and maybe a couple freshmen to find someone, anyone, to hit the side of the barn and keep defenses honest.
  10. I cannot figure out how they rank players the way they do. (This is not a criticism of any particular player's ranking, but a question of how the points are tabulated for a service like rivals). For example, the WR position and using only some Big East schools. Rutgers has Two 3* and gets 34 points Louisville has Three 3* and gets 24 points USF has Three 3* and gets 24 points The Rutgers WRs are both 3 stars and have Rivals Ranks of 5.5 and 5.7. The UL WRs are 3 stars and have RRs of 5.5, 5.5 and 5.6 USF WRs are 3 stars and have RRs of 5.5, 5.7 and 5.7 This could be a mistake but I am sure there are similar numbers throughout on every school and every position. Point being, somewhere there are very subjective points being given and it is not a pure mathematical equation.
  11. Joe, you may be right, but the kid was listed as visiting this weekend, right before LOI day. Gives us a shot.
  12. No love for Andre? It does not matter what type of pro you think the guy will be, he is the best player in school history. Had the rest of our pathetic offense given him some help he would have easily had over 1500 yards rushing this year. If you don't love him as a player you don't love USF football.
  13. I don't get it. We pull Hector Hernandez's scholarship for visiting Louisville and you think it's great. We pull this kid's for going visiting WVU and it's killer. They were both kids no one heard of until they committed to us.
  14. No, not me. I do have a very popular name for Florida.
  15. Won't happen. Installing Hill as the starter now was to put the blame squarely on PJ and afford the OC some time.
  16. I think the lines and LB are setting up nicely for 2 years from now. The RBs and secondary concern me. QB concern is a given.
  17. It appears that, as noted by others, our guys are wearing down at the end. The flipside is that we would not have leads to blow if the walkons played more.
