  1. It was just a couple of years that EasyU fans were telling us how we didn't belong on the same field with them. Fast forward a couple years and ECU's program has cratered and they are looking for their first win in three tries against a USF program that has not "paid it's dues" "Print it"
  2. ...that current UAB Defensive Coordinator Wayne Bolt started his career as a small character actor for a couple late 1970s science fiction films? He obviously out grew these kinds of roles and then found a smogasboard of opportunities in football.
  3. Bowl or not I really like the sound of that. UAB was responsible for keeping us out of C-USA for two years and as a result cost us a couple bowl game appearances.
  4. In nutshell that describes Jimmy Baxter's 31/2 year career at USF. Seth was all about recruiting athletes to play basketball. The difference with CRM is that he is recruiting basketball players first.
  5. Eighty six years of not winning anything proves that this is a fluke. Moreover, the team is going to be broken apart which is too bad b/c we liked beating up on Pedro. She has always been very good to us.
  6. It's one of the best rivalries in sports....deal with it. If both teams were buddy-buddy do you think it would of got the ratings and interest it attracted this year? Boston winning the World Series is a fluke. Other than the colosal choke job by Rivera teams that are down 0-3 in LCS don't come back and win. I'll give credit to the Redsox for coming back but 9 times out of 10, the events that transpired this year don't happen. Oh btw, the reason people don't like the Yankees is b/c they win. Everything else is an excuse b/c most fans would love for their team to be in the mix of things every year. Please save me the $200-million salary comebacks b/c the RedSox's payroll is just as high.
  7. ....only another two dozen more championships to catch up with NewYork.
  8. The whole Kraky thing was kind of strange from the onset. First his stock dropped like a rock during his senior year despite being invited to several prestigious preseason QB camps and post season all star games. Then he gets hurt and instead of staying in town to absorb the offense he elects to return home to Western PA to rehab. He then returns for the Spring Semester and gets some praise from CJL. The next thing we know is that he is transfering back home. My take is that it was more than just football that drove him back up north. For me at least it would of been nice to at least have a third QB option. We must be the only program in C-USA that does not have a legitimate 3-deep QB rotation. Kraky couldn't have been any worse than .....David Mullins or the Servino kid from Jesuit....right?
  9. Well.....I never thought we would win more than 6 games this year. I said this last year b/c Banks was terrible and PJ didn't flash enough potential like Blackwell did during his rookie campaign to make us optimistic about the future. Next year is not going to be any better. The schedule get tougher and we will have to play at least three games in the cold weather venues of the Big East. We are graduating some good OL people and we will probably be breaking in a rookie QB. Denson is the wild card but if we change offenses with a new offensive coaches all bets are off. CJL has some serious recruiting to do the next two years on the offensive side of the ball. ...... Hey BigMatt: good job on the story, although I won't laugh too loud at Javon Camon being a player of the game nominee. I bet you he had more missed tackles than tackles made.  ;D
  10. I could be wrong but wasn't a big reason why Shurron turned pro was b/c he was in danger of not being academically eligible? Tim Jones - will actually be an ace in the hole for us next year b/c we will have a legitimate SEC type of athlete along the defensive lineman for our BE debut.
  11. Someone brought this up on another thread, but Kraky has got to be kicking himself for not sticking around another year. At worst if it didn't work out he could of still transfered to DI-AA and wouldn't lose a year of eligibility. I am not saying that Kraky would of been our savior but he was the only player who was a legitimate QB in high school. We never found out why he dropped from a 5-star quality recruit to no scholarship offers but based on his high school record he was a very accurate passer. Considering how a weak armed QBs from Army and UL tore up our secondary, Kraky couldn't have been any worse than PJ or Banks.
  12. According to the Trib, he turned a Heisman award candidate in Rex Grossman into an average QB. Just b/c he is a former Gator doesn't mean he is better than an offensive coordinator from another bigtime school.
  13. Nice job Mike.....thanks for sharing the images. I can still remember Shurron taking over a few games against Memphis and Houston.
  14. I am all for intelligent discussion but when you have fans that flat out want to fire the head coach during what is obviously a rebuilding year, they are hard to take seriously. Some of these fans have it all wrong. They think we have been "world beaters". That is simply not true. We have distinguished ourselves from programs like UCF by winning the games we were supposed to win on paper and winning a few games we should have not. Leavitt has gotten the maximum of the talent he has been able to talk into coming to USF and training in what used to be a small, dank 3,500 sq-ft faciity. Eventually the good luck was going to run out. However, guess what....CJL finally has the tools to recruit players. That is, he got a reasonable (not great) long term contract, he finally got real facilities but most importantly he can now recruit with a BCS calling card. The bottom line for me and any right thinking fan is the we need to see what he can do with all the new resources before firing him prematurely or conversly making him out to be our "bobby bowden". Finally, I take issue with people taking a shot at the man who has litterally and figuratively given all to USF Football. That lack of respect rubs me as a fan the wrong way. Some of our fans need a dose of reality.
  15. I'll be happy with a few wins and being competitive the rest of the season. I still think we can beat Cincy, Memphis, EasyU and even UAB but we have to play smart and Julmiss has to show up and be worth a ****. I am still sticking to my 5-6 or 6-5 record, with 5 - 6 looking better every passing day.
  16. smazza are you really a football coach or is the smog getting to you? Professional teams have a hard time establishing a running game when defenses crowd 8 or sometimes 9 in the box. The only way to offset that is to make them pay downfield and we know that is impossible. Perhaps we should pay Julmiss NOT to play. Coaching? Offensive playing calling was average at best but the real problem was talent. UL has 3 monster RBs and two great QBs. UL's defense is average and if would caught the ball the few times it was thrown anywhere near its intended receiver we could of made some plays on the Cards. We got outcoached against Army b/c theirs adjustment worked better than ours. However, Leavitt has not options other than Ronnie Banks at QB and on defense....do you really gain anything by replacing a starter with a newbie freshmen?
  17. Leagues apart? No not really. UL is just better than us RIGHT NOW. We are very young on defense and that was how we used to win games anyway. Fixing the defense is easier than figuring out what to d on offense, so I don't think it will be very long before we are back on track. I guess you forgot how we matched Louisville play for play last year and that we actually beat them. That was essentially the same UL team. USF on the other hand lost 3/4 of its secondary and is playing too many other freshmen at key positions to be successful. The biggest difference is at QB we have nobody as good as UL's third stringer on our roster. That I will admit is JL's fault. He should of at least taken a JUCO or transfer when he failed to sign the big names we were after the last couple of years. We obviously have some work to do but I'll take my chances with JL for another couple of years to see if he can continue growing the program. However, it wouldn't hurt my feelings made a few changes in scheme or we tweaked the coaching staff.
  18. How long before we see www.fireRobertMcCullum.com ? Afterall, rebuilding is not allowed at USF.
  19. Criticism is one thing, calling for the man's job while he is trying to rebuild is another. If you cannot recognize the difference then I can't help you. In case you haven't noticed we are in the middle of another transition or rebuilding stage. Different words same thing.... Many of you are letting emotion cloud your judgement b/c you obviously have not thought things through. Let's just say we do get rid of JL....who do we bring in and how do we pay him? I can guarantee its a whole lot more than we are paying our current staff. Going rate for a quality BCS is $1.2 million plus... Secondly, how much do we pay his staff? If you need an answer look no further than our friends in Oviedo. Third, are your prepared to sacrifice the in roads we have made in recruiting? Because a new staff has to start from scratch. Once again look north toward OViedo. Finally, how long does it take for a new coach to bring in his kind of players, implement his system and start winning? A natural follow up question is how long before the same people  that are calling for CJL's job right now will be the same one's calling for the new guys head in two years? BTW, who do you guys suggest our next coach should be ....Jesus Christ? Does the next coach have to be perfect like him? I am just curious since some of you guys act surprised that CJL has actually made some bad decisions. What were you expecting.....perfection?
  20. No....we only lost ONE game on Saturday. They don't add a couple extra games to the loss column and take away our charter for losing to Army. Look I have been critical of some of his decisions but with the track record he put together at USF he deserves the benefit of the doubt. Instead we have these "yahoos" that can't wait to send him packing after a couple of games. He deserves our loyalty and support b/c I doubt USF football would be where its at without him at the helm. Another thing that people forget is the impact of making about making wholesale changes in the coaching staff. Many people are forgetting that unlike pro football, our coaches moonlight as salesmens of USF football. Many of the coaches have been mentioned have been key in recruiting players in the Broward-Dade, Tampa Bay and Panhandle. If we axe these guys now or even after the season we have effectively given up the in roads we have made in these recruiting rich areas. In addition, you have to think of the ramifications on our current players and I'll just leave it at that...
  21. Did the Army non-victory send him into hiding Osama-style in the deserts of Arizona?
  22. What is there to discuss? We lost one game. If this is still happening in two years then we can discuss a change until then there is no reason to believe that Leavitt will not continue to grow this program. You guys are funny, one bad loss and you are ready to jump off the skyway. Let me fill you in on a little secret, until we can have two or three bluechippers at evey position these high and low cycles are going to continue. All programs go through them except for the very elite and even then they have bad losses. Thanks for the laughs...
  23. I could never be a RedSox fan b/c I would have to give up baseball. Army, Rams and now this.....bitter.....ahhh nevermind.
