  1. I have tried this off an on, for several years now. I've had the joy of drinking hopping frog (Cincinnati), some tea flavored vodka that was supposedly brewed in South Carolina, Moonshine from West Virginia etc, etc. I have realized that getting alcohol from the local area of a school is a hell of a lot more difficult than one would think. I was hoping to find 1816 Chattanooga Whiskey but so far no luck. But aside from my whining, I am in. This should be a weekly topic. Mods?
  2. Join me and let's get Pumpkin Spice Latte early in Riverview, FL. #pslchallenge http://t.co/LyYDYxjI

  3. I'd like us to have a better record than 5-7 and win more than one game in the BE.
  4. I just unlocked the “News Junkie 1†badge at NFL Fan Rewards! http://t.co/9CotvDdW

  5. I'm not picking on you individually, but this seems to be a prevalent theme. I'm wondering why the negativity? Do USF grads wander around aimlessly, the dregs of society? Woe is me, how do I compete with FSU grad or UF grad? What is the point of competing with Yale grad? Let's have some self-respect, sell what we have to offer and continue to improve ourselves. We are the Big East, not a group of pathetic losers. Be proud, and don't tell the world we are the Three Stooges. Losers do that. +1 And Christ no one wants the job? I'll take it. What, pay me a few mil so you guys can tell me I'm a fat doughboy loser who doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground even though I'm infinitely more qualified for this job than any of you? Pay me so I can fly around the country and listen to sleezy university presidents lie to my face and back out of promises made while all the while you armchair idiots are blaming me? Fine with me, I'd put up with your idiocy for a few years and then retire to my beach house with my wife and kids while you stiffs head back to your cubicles and 401k plans. (Before you get all jumped up Jesus Christy on me, that was a tongue-in-cheek reference to everyone's thrashing of the ex-commissioner, who yes, was infinitely more qualified to do the job than any of you) And if you think the Big East is a crappy conference then you are letting the media feed you your feelings. The Big East is no better or worse than any of the other major conferences and with the addition of some of the teams that are coming in, a hell of a lot more exciting than it was with the crappy universities that already left. Honestly, I don't care that those schools left and I wish Rutgers and UConn would go with them.
  6. Well if the game wasn't played then that would mean we didn't get the loss, right? Then at worst we have one more year of above .500 football @ 6-5
  7. I couldn't care less how the Sun Dome sounds during a concert. How will it sound during a basketball game is what I want to know. Oh wait, I don't care about that either, evidently, this just in, you don't need a sound system to play a game of basketball.
  8. I say 4-16 team leagues, each divided in 2-8 team divisions, the top 64 teams in the top division, everyone else in the lower tier. Year one is based on a 20 year average win total. If you havent been in 20 years then in year one you are automatically regulated to the lower division. At the end of each season the bottom 8 teams based on some kind of human and/or computer rankings are deregulated to the lower division (yes just like in European football) and the final 4 teams in whatever playoff scenario as well as 4 wild card teams in the lower division get to be regulated up to the higher division. Therefore, aside from year one, EVERYONE (even William & Mary) has a path to play into a national championship. Each team in the top tier plays everyone in their division (7games), yearly alternating of 1/2 in the opposite division (4games) and 1-2 teams from the lower division.
  9. Juan "Junior" Carlin played for the Orem Owls in 2011 going 4-0 w a 1.50 era over 30ip for the Orem Owlz of the Rookie Pioneer League The league starts up again in 2 weeks, the assumption is that he is on the roster Randy Fontenez has a 6.17 ERA over 11.2IP and 5apps for the Savannah Sand Gnats of the Class A South Atlantic League Stephen Hunt is batting was batting .197 for Bakersfield of the California league but ended up getting called up to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos of the Double-A Southern League on 5/16 where he is now hitting .292 in 24 abs Jonathan Kosco played last year for Princeton of the Appalachian League and the Hudson Valley Renegades of the Class A Short-Season New York-Penn League posting a .310 BA and a 807ops over 71AB.he is on the roster for Hudson valley and will be part of the team when the league starts in 2 weeks Sam Mende is crushing it for the Asheville Tourists of the Class A South Atlantic League. He has posted a .318/.373/.542/914 over 192 abs in 49games. He has 42 runs and 36 RBIs, over a 162 games season that works out to 138 runs and 119RBIs. Not too shabby. Jimmy Moran has a 6.66 ERA over 25.2IP and 18 apps for Dayton Dragons of the Midwest league, it is unclear but he may be going to play for the Billings Mustangs of the Rookie Pioneer League once the league season starts in approx 2 weeks. Kevin Quackenbush leads the Class A Advanced California League with 11 saves for Lake Elsinore Storm Eric Sim has made it to the Fresno Grizzlies of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League and has 1 AB getting 1 hit. I take that back, he was in triple a for that one at bat while the starting catcher went to be with his new baby. Eric was sent back to Augusta of the south atlantic league where he is batting .196 in 51 ABs
  10. Elton John will be the first performer at the newly renovated USF Sun Dome's grand reopening, the venue announced Thursday. The singer-songwriter will perform Sept. 14. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. June 15 and will be priced between $39.50 and $139.50. They'll be available through Ticketmaster.com or the Sun Dome box office, toll-free 1-800-745-3000. The crown jewel of the University of South Florida's athletics and entertainment complex had been closed while undergoing $35 million in renovations. The upgrades include redesigning the 10,000-seat arena to add a center scoreboard, concessions and restrooms in a new concourse level and opportunities for club-level viewing. The upgrades also include a new sound system and lighting. The Fresh Music Festival, featuring Keith Sweat and Doug E. Fresh, technically is the dome's first show on July 7, but the Elton John show is the big headliner that organizers have been promising for the venue's grand opening. Other acts previously announced for the Sun Dome include: • Florence + the Machine (Sept. 25) • The King's Men: Kirk Franklin, Marvin Sapp, Donnie McClurkin and Israel Houghton (Oct. 2) • Eric Church, Justin Moore and Kip Moore (Dec. 13) Though Elton John has performed recently in Lakeland and Orlando, his last Tampa performance was in 2009, when he played a sold-out gig with Billy Joel at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. http://www.tampabay.com/features/music/elton-john-to-perform-in-tampa-at-newly-renovated-usf-sun-dome-on-sept-14/1234090
