  1. The Sun-Sentinel (Fort Lauderdale) wrote two or three days ago that Alex Collins committed to the University of Florida, The newspaper had an article about how good a lacrosse player he is also and then said he has already committed to UF.
  2. Those bulls in front of the Marshall Center look great. I fondly remember the old UC (University Center) from back in the 70's
  3. Thanks for the photos.I have not been to Tampa in quite a while.
  4. Yes, BleacherBull I certainly remember our home games at the Tampa Armory and home games at Curtis Hixon Hall in downtown Tampa. We even played a home game at the gymnasium on campus against Manatee Junior College. We were 19-4 that first year playing junior varsity teams around the state and junior college teams. We beat the Gators junior varsity in our very first Basketbull game! We played a full varsity schedule our second year and had a record of 8-19 I think. Our team was composed only of our original freshmen (now sophomores) and a few new kids right out of high school.
  5. I was manager of the very first USF Brahman Basketbull team back in 1970-1971 when we started the program with a junior varsity team of all freshman players. My favorite players were in no particular order: Tommy Davis (guard), Bill Lear (guard), John Kiser (forward), Arthur Jones (forward) and at center Rob Mineer. We were a part of South Florida sports history!
  6. I hope Doug Woolard gives Coach Lowery of Southern Illinois a call!
  7. I really want Woolard to consider contacting Coach Lowery of Southern Illinois University. I know he is a mid-west guy but maybe he would be interested in coaching in the Big East.
  8. Remember, Basketbull, Shea Cotton said the food at Alabama was better than ours
  9. Basketbull, Thanks for forgiving me for being Steve Mazza's buddy. Steve and I go back to 1975 when we were both managers for the men's basketbull team. I was a manager my freshman year in 1971-72. It was our first varsity team. The program started in 1970-71 with a junior varsity team. We played jv teams and junior college teams around the state. We were 19-4 that first year. I have great memories from that time. Anyway, Steve Mazza may go a bit overboard at times but he truly bleeds green and gold!
  10. You can find Andy Katz's article at ESPN.com. Click on his article about UNM and Steve Alford. The article about USF and Gregg Marshall is linked at the bottom of that page on the left hand side.
  11. That is a very good question, Steve Mazza. However, whoever is our next coach will be hired because Woolard believes he can recruit Big East basketball athletes.
  12. I was just reading Andy Katz's column on ESPN.com. (I don't know how to get the link here). He says Doug Woolard was at Gregg Marshall's house Tuesday night. Gregg Marshall was considering flying to Tampa tonight (Wednesday) for further talks with our AD. According to Andy Katz if Marshall does not get the USF job then Fran Faschilla (ESPN college basketball analyst and former St. John's coach) might be considered for the job here. The article also says USF wanted Anthony Grant but he is staying at VCU. Very interesting stuff!
  13. I think Gillen would be okay but I much prefer Grant, Lowery, Marshall, or Hobbs. Come on DW hire one of those guys!
  14. Come on Mr. Wollard please make a very strong attempt to hire Anthony Grant. I would also be very happy with Coach Lowery of Southern Illinois or Coach Marshall of Winthrop.
  15. One of my two daughters is a junior at Boston Univerity. It is a great school in a terrific city. With the USF loss to BU my daughter will tease me endlessly
  16. I'm with you Herman. I have the same order on my wish list. I would be ecstatic with any of the top three. However, being the pessimist I am, I am not expecting us to name Grant or Lowery or Marshall our next head basketbull coach.
  17. Coach Marshall is another young, dynamic, up and coming coach who is ready to move to a major conference. If we don't get Anthony Grant than he and/or Coach Lowery of SIU should be targets of our coaching search.
  18. I do not remember the name of either coach, but, how about the coach of Southern Illinois or the coach of Butler? Both schools are in mid-major basketball conferences and have met with much success.
  19. It is highly unlikely we make the Big East tournament and the NIT this season. Hopefully next season with Coach Mac we will.
  20. My home in Coral Springs is only about a twenty minute drive to Lockhart Stadium. I will be very surprised if the game is moved to Dolphins Stadium. We Bulls should greatly outnumber the FAU fans in attendance. I have not yet been to a footbull game and can't wait to see the team in person. I was the first manager of the USF Basketbull team in 1971-72. Back then football was certainly a fantasy for us Golden Brahman fans.
  21. There is also a Rutgers billboard on Commercial Blvd. near I-95 in Fort Lauderdale. It is soooooo obnoxious!
  22. Maybe my friend Steve Mazza will be buying the Dolphins
