  1. I forgot the word "people." "Long haired freaky people need not apply."

  3. Wichita State should win the tournament. But, GO BULLS!!
  4. Well, I'm an old fart (53 years old) so here goes. Our first varsity game was played at Stetson in their very old gym. The game was around December 1 , 1971. John Kiser, a sharp shooting forward of ours, hit about a twenty foot jump shot as time expired to win the game! Bedlam followed in our victorious lockerroom. It was a very momentous occassion in USF athletics, one that I will never forget. I was a manager on that team.
  5. To make the C-USA Tournament this year is quite an accomplishment when you consider the horrible record we had last season. The team is making strides. Of course, next year in the Big East will be an enormous challege to say the least. I am grateful for anything positive our basketbulls do. We went from being in no conference in the early 1970's to the Sun Belt to the Metro Conference to C-USA to soon being members of one of the elite college basketball conferences. Life is good.
  6. Great story Supersurch. I can't top that. As I said in a post a few days ago, I started at USF in September of 1969 when soccer was the big sport. Homecoming was built around soccer. Dan Holcumb was the coach. We always won about 75% of our games. I lived in Eta my freshman and sophomore years. I rarely saw (other than me) a student wear a USF shirt or hat. All I ever saw were UF or FSU attire. Any way, USF basketbull began in 1970 with a junior varsity team. We went 19-4 that first year playing junior colleges from around the state and several junior varsity teams in Florida. We beat the UF jv at Curtis Hixon Hall our first game. I was a manager of the first varsity team the following year. I remember playing pick up basketball with a USF baseball player named Doug Hogestyn. He had just transferred to USF from Arizona State. He was later drafted by the Yankees and wound up playing third base for the Ft. Lauderdale Yankees of the Florida State League. He never made it to the big leagues but is now a star of the soap opera "Days of Our Lives". He is now known as Drake Hogestyn. I graduated from South Florida with my second BA in 1976. I am a seventh grade math teacher in Coral Springs, FL. I have one gripe. Many of the faculty members at my school are graduates of UF and FSU. They have posters and pennants of their schools on their classroom walls. I cannot find such items here. I wish my classroom was sporting green and gold. I hate those Gator and Seminole ********! Go Bulls!!!
  7. I am so frustrated with our basebulls year after year after year. To lose to a team such as Eastern Michigan is ludicrous. I hope I can later this season eat my words but Eddie Cardieri should have been let go years ago. If UCF, Stetson, and FAU can have good teams every year why can't we?
  8. Zagar and Evans predict that the year 2525 will be the best. You old farts like me probably remember that song "In the Year 2525".
  9. With 5:32 remaining in the first half, Seth's team leads Duke 26-24.
  10. This topic has been moved to [link=http://www.usfbullspen.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=33;action=display;num=1108695726;start=0]Tampa Bay and General Sports Forum[/link] by Velcro.
  11. Redd Foxx's definition of "indecent"- If it's in hard, in long, and in deep, it's in decent.
  12. I am about the same age as Doug Hatch (I'm 53) aka NormalBull, I believe. When I started at USF as a freshman in September of 1969 soccer was the top sport. Homecoming was built around soccer. Basketbull started in 1970 with a junior varsity team. I think we went 19-4 playing junior colleges and freshman teams from schools like FSU, UF, and Stetson. We beat the Gators junior varsity in our very first game. It was played at Curtis Hixon Hall. I was a manager of the first varsity team the following year. We beat Stetson at Deland, Florida on a last second shot by John Kiser in our first varsity game. I will never forget the bedlam in our lockeroom. You would have thought we won the NCAA tournament. My point is I have been a faithful Bull follower for almost 36 years. I don't post very often but this message board is my link to my beloved Bulls. This board is just terrific!
  13. Thank goodness the Louisville game is not being televised nationally. Imagine how embarrassing it would be for the nation to see our Bulls blown out as badly as they will be.
  14. This has to be one of our most embarrassing home losses in a long time
  15. Does anyone know when is the last day of this signing period?
  16. As we all really know we won't know the true worth of this class for another two or three years most likely.
  17. We also should beat Saint Louis in our next game. Go Basketbulls!!!
  18. We have had an excellent soccer program since the inception of the sport in the mid-1960's. I believe we were in the top 25 my freshman year in 1969. Dan Holcumb, the coach, always brought top talent to Tampa. Soccer was the headline sport at USF prior to basketbull in 1971. Homecoming centered around soccer in the 1960's. So, we old farts really appreciate having basketbull and footbull!
  19. Just to be different, how about Louis Gachette? No, only kidding. Denson will start. Please not Julmiste.
  20. Thanks for the information. I guess Larry Blustein's column is not so up to date.
  21. Larry Blustein has a column in today's Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel. He says Shane McElwain and Gus Mustakas have committed to USF. Blustein says Mustakas is a defensive lineman from Chaminade-Madonna High School in Hollywood, FL. Has anyone heard of Gus Mustakas? Do you know anything about him?
  22. I believe we officially become members of the Big East on July 1.
  23. Let's hope we really do so well on February 2.
