  1. Yeah, seems to me smazza & I have been saying this for the last few years, and everyone else wanted to jump all over us whenever we said something. Welcome to the party...
  2. This topic has been moved to [link=http://www.thebullspen.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=ce9876;action=display;num=1146273192;start=0]The Mad Cow Lounge[/link] by Bulliever.
  3. That IS exciting. Congratulations!
  4. That was going to be my response, but you said it first. How long is it going to take for CJL to realize that PJ simply isn't a good passer, and can't think on his feet? I've said it before and I'll say it again. He is THE WORST Division I QB I've ever seen. The truly sad part about it is that he seems to be getting worse as time goes on, not better. I simply ask all of you these questions: 1. How could you possibly have a worse QB running the team than PJ? 2. If what is on the bench are worse QB's than PJ then why did they get recruited in the first place?
  5. I think it's a picture of my 98-year-old grandmother. Just not sure how it got put on TheBullsPen?
  6. OMG! The article is talking about making employees accountable for their own jobs. Oh, the humanity. Make it stop...
  7. Why wouldn't it just say, "The university's president is..." Sounds like they thinks she's going somewhere.
  8. Maybe not yet. However, UF is returning most of the team. And, even though it's pretty unlikely they repeat as NC's, I bet they will have a better year than the football team will.
  9. ...to be a football school." And, even though I really don't like him very well, I wonder what the ramifications of such a simple statement will be? I've said it before, and until I see otherwise, I'll say it again, colleges are looked at as either a football school or basketball school. Not both. If I were any of the USF coaches scouting players, I'd find that quote in an article, have it blown up at Kinko's and hand it to every football prospect that is leaning on going to UF.
  10. He sucks (and I mean, sucks) at QB. So, if he isn't going to start anyway, and he's fighting for a 2nd string gig, why not give him a shot to play elsewhere? So, it seems: 1. PJ's not willing to move to another postion. 2. Leavitt & company aren't willing to move him to another position. 3. Leavitt & company just aren't very creative. After watching the predictible offense last season, I'd have to go with #3.
  11. Test? You got an, "F". Sorry, I just know you have way more potential, and you also had too many grammatical & punctuation errors.
  12. I can't imagine that Pat Julmiste is taking the demotion to 2nd or 3rd string very well at this point? He seems to be a decent athlete, just not a good QB. Has there been talk of trying him at WR, or some other position? If he could be used in some other capacity, what good is he doing riding the bench as the #2 or #3 QB in his senior year?
  13. Usually don't disagree with you, but kinda do on this point. Kansas State built it's program up playing the crappy schools of the world. Even though Snyder was a total A-hole, he did do that school justice by putting it on the map. However, no need for USF to do it. Joining the Big East was enough of a boost for them. Now, they just need to start getting good recruits from around the country, start utilizing them to their fullest potential, and start acting like the Division I powerhouse they could be...
  14. Since USF didn't even have a football team until this past decade it's obvious that many of us rooted for other college football teams growing up. If you add to that fact that the USF basketball team has made it to one NCAA tournament in the last 167 years (okay, slight exaggeration) I would bet that there are some people that root for other b-ball teams as well - whether or not they want to admit that fact? So, who did/do you root for other than the Bulls? 1. College - Ohio State. 2. NBA - Cavs. 3. MLB - Indians. 4. NFL - Browns. Obviously, I grew up in Ohio and have been rooting for Ohio State almost from the day I was born. However, I've said it here before, and I'll say it here again, that if USF and Ohio State were to ever meet - I would root for the Bulls.
  15. ...story on USF's message board talking about men's baseball team. Yep, it must be March.
  16. The good news is that great basketball is played every March, and into April. The bad news is that it's never from a USF basketball team. One more season? Wow, there'd have to be one heck of a turn-around for fans to feel they have the b-ball coach of the future presently at the helm. And, what would an acceptable turn-around be when you're 1-15 in league play? 3 wins? 5 wins? .500? So, they go .500 in the Big East next year. Satsify anyone? Why waste everyone's time, including the coaches? He could be searching for his new job during the off-season. With that statement from the president, you can now officially say that USF's focus is to be known as a football school.
  17. This is exactly the type of post that make some people wonder why no one is suppose to talk out against anything? Dumb? Yeah, sorry, we like our crappy basketball team and continue to wish it to stay that way for 4+ more decades. Dude drank and drove. Bet 98% of the posters on this board have done it AT LEAST ONCE when you shouldn't have driven home. Pot meet kettle. EDIT: Oh, and, BTW there is only one way for the people who matter to know what you think, and that is to contact them. Which, I just did...so, now is your time to lay it out if you haven't already because I'm taking bets they read this thread.
  18. Huggins at USF would be awesome. Maybe after 4+ decades of crappy basketball we could all see USF get into the NCAA tournament. I would like to see that before I die in 2046...
  19. Ignorant? Nice. Okay, I'll give you facts. Disregard these: 1. USF is 58th overall in recruiting in the country. 2. USF is 5th overall in the Big East in recruting behind   Pitt, Louisville, Rutgers, and Syracuse. 3. Pitt is #1 in the Big East. They have recruits from   PA, OH, NY and FL. 4. Pitt has 6 4-star recruits. 5. USF has 1 4-star recruit. 6. Both Pitt & Louisville have 12 3-star recruits. 7. USF has 6 3-star recruits. However, my original argument was that there are quality players outside the state of Florida. Pitt came to FL and got four - why doesn't USF go elsewhere and get some? If it's simply $$$ there is not much that can be done about it, yet. Just wondering if that was/is the only factor.
  20. I guess I can see both sides of the argument on that one. But, if that were 100% true (not saying it is/isn't) wouldn't you think it would be even more of a draw for an out-of-state recruit? This isn't a slam, it's stricltly out of curiosity. What amount of time do you feel is adequate?
  21. Why? Because it is intelligently laid-out and has information to back it, and you only want to throw out your flowery, I love USF sports just because they exist, posts?
  22. I would hope - all things considered - that the ratings system Rivals uses factors in such things. Obviously, don't know that for sure. Which would mean, Joe Johnson, Georgia (2 stars) is as good as Bob Smith (2 stars) Florida. Seems like getting Joe Johnson would just start opening some recruiting doors. I know comparing UF's recruiting class to USF's recruiting class is like comparing apples to oranges. And, budgets, etc. most likely play HUGE roles in recruiting. But, how much is a phone call to spark interest? Hell, I'll buy them some phone cards. ;D
  23. ...from out of the state of Florida on a yearly basis? Check out the list so far: http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/commitlist.asp?Year=2006&School=70 Okay, arguably, Florida has the best recruiting base in the country. However, doesn't mean you only recruit from your own back yard. To date, Rivals.com's, top recruiting class is UF. Their recruits are coming from: FL, TX, GA, VA, NC, and AR. And, mutiple players are coming from some of those states. USF has ONE player coming from California. The rest, Florida. Some factors I've considered: 1. UF tradition. 2. SEC -  arguably - much better conference than Big East. 3. Time factor. (Young program). 4. Stability. (Division II - Division I - C-USA - Big East). 5. Dreaded - OCS. 6. Flordia talent recruited is as good if not better than   the caliber recruit that may be considering USF from out-of-state. Regardless, it does not mean that the USF coaches shouldn't be or can't recruit elsewhere. I just find it unbelievably hard to imagine that there isn't some football star in one of the cold-weather climates that wouldn't be dying to head to Florida and play for USF - especially when there are so many holes to fill and there is the chance of playing almost immediately - if not in a year's timeframe. Sorry for all of you that are still confusing my realism with negativity, but this coaching staff still isn't impressing me in a lot of ways.
  24. You people are kinding yourselves if you think USF basketball is going to ever be a GREAT program. The chance for that to happen has come and gone.  Debated this fact with other people before, but USF has obviously taken the road to be a football school. And, where some major colleges have had flashes of greatness from BOTH their football & basketball programs at one time, or another, they are perceived as one, or the other. Meaning, a football school or a basketball school. You can argue with me all you wish, but to prove my point I simply give you these 4 examples: 1. Duke = basketball. 2. North Carolina = basketball. 3. USC = football. 4. Texas = football. Texas is ranked #5 in the AP, and has a 15 -2 record. Heading into the NCAA tournament, that would probably give them a #2 seed.  However, NO ONE, and I repeat, NO ONE will ever think of Texas as anything but, football 1st - everything else 2nd. Even when Michigan had, The Fab Five, football was #1, and basketball was just icing on the cake. Look at Michigan basketball since that time. Glimmers of hope, but not much else. USF's basketball program has had it's time (we are talking decades - not just a few years) to shine, and for whatever reason, it didn't happen. The gears have shifted, and USF is heading full-tilt into the football world. Florida schools = football. Probably the best football talent base in the country, and the quick jump to Division I & into the Big East was no accident. USF basketball will get better. It really can't get much worse. But, from now on, it never be the main athletic focus.
