  1. It's called settling. Something many fans seem to want to do with this program. Oh, we have football. Hell, USF should have had football 25+ years ago. Oh, we have a new sports facility. So what? So do many, many other schools. Many nicer that USF's. Football teams bottom line. Winning. Isn't happening enough. Isn't happening enough with the elite programs of the country. Are you happy to be on UCF's level? Louisville's level? UWV's level? I'm not. No one in the country. Trust me. Thinks about ANY of those teams when they think of great college football schools. Just doesn't happen. So, the program either turns it up a notch, or stays right where it is - middle of the road - beat a decent team every now & then - hopefully go to a bowl game. Or, they (Leavitt - someone) says F#@# - it! I'm not settling for anything less than this team playing with FSU, UF, UM year -in, and year- out. Know why? Because they are elite programs, they win big games, and they know what the next level is like. USF hasn't even gotten in to the elevator to get up to the next level. Settle people. You'll be much happier. You won't expect wins, or GOOD bowl games, or GOD FORBID, a National Championship. Sorry, I'm rooting much higher. Car Quest Drive-in Bowl just doesn't do it for me when they could have had so much better. Oh, we weren't suppose to win this year. We had blah, blah, balh, and blah, blah, blah. Screw it. Raise the bar. Get the talent in here, and win games, Leavitt. It's your ONLY job. Win games. Period. Not to be a nice guy, not to let us know why wins didn't happen. To win games. Sorry, you left-wingers are still hoping the Kerry count turns around. Ain't gonna happen, and I ain't gonna settle for this team to not be a BIG EAST powerhouse, and National Power.
  2. Get back in my hole? What are you, twelve? Shouldn't you be in bed or are your parent's gone for the night? National Championship? C'mon? This team DOES NOT deserve to go to a bowl game. And, if you say they do - why? Because of what games, or factors? They had the opportunity to win at UConn to set-up the UWV game for the Big East title. Choked. They played UWV AT HOME to prove that they weren't a fluke this year. Well, they didn't do it. UWA won. Wies goes to ND, and has them in the BCS in ONE year after a decade of crappy - really crappy - football. Good coaches can do that for a program. Leavitt is NOT that guy. I'll tell everyone one of you I told you so over & over when it is proven in the next few years. He has 2 in my opinion. Really it should be next year, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. It won't happen. He is not a good enough coach to step it up a notch. So, keep trying to slam me. I'll write down your user id's, and remind you of the outcome in 2007. Thanks. This has been a public service announcement.
  3. Wow. Great comeback. Did your Mom help you with that one? Mediocrity is contagious. smazza?
  4. What a bunch of BS. USF DOES NOT deserve to go to a bowl game. Only reason they will go is because a gazillion Division I teams get to go. Why? $$$. 6 wins SHOULD NOT be enough to be bowl eligible, and USF certainly does not deserve to go on the mere fact that they beat UL. Remember? The ONE game everyone wants to sit and boast about to all the football elite. Sorry, call me what you want, but I AM NOT happy about this program right now. Leavitt is a clown, and the contract SHOULD NOT have been extended for that amount of time. He should have had 2 more years - AT MOST - to prove his worthiness. To date, he has done NOTHING for me. Any division I coach with Florida's recruting base could have USF where it is today - a medocre program at best. Bet you were happy with your 3% raise last year. Pathetic.
  5. ...that so-called Bowl Game. ****. I hate being right all the time. Just can't win the BIG game, and isn't the guy to take USF to the NEXT level. You remember you heard it here first - or second - or whenever - but, I just put it in writing once again. USF will LOSE the bowl game if they end up playing anyone but Akron. Even that game isn't a guaranteed win. Pitiful...
  6. C'mon people. Yes, a bowl game is good. But, seriously, let's not SETTLE for going to The 1000 Flushes Toilet Bowl. Time will tell about Leavitt.
  7. There are something like 28 bowl games. Which mean 56 teams get to play in bowl games. There are 119 Division I schools, or 48% of the schools playing football get to go "bowling".  And, where I'm glad USF will most likely get to go to one, it's not something to get all warm & fuzzy about unless it's one of the BCS games. I seem to remember Miami WON the game. Wins/losses - all that matters. USF played with Penn State. So what? Penn State won - won the Big Ten, and now going to BCS bowl. That's the difference in being fair, and elite. Misguided. Nice. Let's see, the BIGGEST school in Florida in a area that is arguably the BEST recruiting state in America. If you want to compare USF to UCF or FIU I am a little insulted. Who gives a rat's arse about them? If this program wasn't going to try to surpass those teams in a matter of a decade, then why even start one to begin with?
  8. I'm going to play Devil's Advocate for a second. Bulls lose to UConn, Bulls lose to UWV, Bulls go to a Bowl Game, and lose. That would mean that the Bulls don't finish 2nd in the Big East, and end on a 3-game losing streak. Yes, that sucks to think about, but could happen. Now, considering that possible scenario, is everyone still happy that Leavitt was signed to a long-term contract while going into the off-season?  This program has come an unbelievably long way to this point, and it's great to see them going to a bowl game. However, I can't live off of a UL victory. UL is okay, but by no means an elite team. Don't just play with them, but BEAT Miami, or Penn State & I'm all about what's going on with Leavitt. Sorry, but haven't seen in Leavitt (to date), a coach that can take this program to the NEXT level. I truly hope I eat crow on this in the future. I truly do. But, we will all just have to wait and see...
  9. Okay, signed the same coach that allowed the team to have what was probably the BIGGEST letdown in the history of the football team less than a week ago, to a multi-year contract extension - and everyone is happy? Interesting...
  10. To be honest, I haven't gotten as far as to think who I'd want if Leavitt left. Guess, I just got as far as knowing who I wouldn't want in Davis. And, had tried to put him totally out of my mind because of the debacle he left in Cleveland, until I started noticing his name popping up on this board. BTW, where does this statement keep coming from? Why is there not enough money, and how do you know that for sure? Just wondering...
  11. Don't feel too bad. He went out and bought it because it matched his shoes...
  12. As a Brown's fan, I am still having to bear the burden of Butch Davis virtually ruining the team for year's to come. With repeated bad draft picks, poor FA signings, a monster ego that seemed to slip into bizzare emotional anxiety, I'm not so sure THIS is the guy if Leavitt leaves. Yeah, I know, the old cliche that colleges coaches don't make good NFL coaches, and vice versa, but that really isn't that case any longer. And, you can argue that he was a great college coach, but I don't think he's the same guy that left Miami. Just can't imagine having to deal with Butch Davis again in a team I root for. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1934933
  13. Sorry to say, but the USF team that played at UConn would get crushed if that game were to happen at that location. Am I missing something? They're giving Louisville the # 2 Big East ranking even though USF beat them, and have the same league record?
  14. I don't get this at all? So, you're saying that TRUE FANS can only say GOOD THINGS about the team, and can't be critical? Seems to me a lot of the posters that are being critical are making good points. Keep accepting a mediocre team, and you'll keep getting a mediocre team...
  15. This game went from THE BIGGEST GAME IN USF HISTORY, to not even being televised. Pathetic. Like I said a few days ago. I bet this game would have been the location of ESPN's Game Day. Now, it means nothing. If USF doesn't win the game - they don't deserve to go bowling. If I were the committee picking teams I sure as heck wouldn't want a team limping into the game regardless of whether it was their first in history. Just my 2 cents.
  16. Yes, if USF wins the Big East and makes it to a BCS bowl game. Oh, wait, if that were to have happened this thread wouldn't have happened...
  17. I watched a program with some legendary coaches - both pro & college. When asked what ONE factor they considered to be the most important factor in proving how good a coach truly is after the obvious - win/loss record - they ALL said look at the number of penalties, and mental mistakes.
  18. Because to be a good coach, and have a good program you win the games you're suppose to win - UConn. Poor playing call, flat team, no major halftime adjustment, giving up big plays to lose. Who are you suppose to blame it on? Someone else said it too, once I heard his short interview with CJL heading into halftime, I knew the game was over. Like I stated in another thread, I am starting to leand towards the get rid of Leavitt bandwagon. However, I will hold out my final view of the situation until after the UWV game. Why? Because it will be interesting how he gets the team up for this game, and what the final outcome will be after such a HUGE letdown. USF missed a chance to possibly break into the top 25 rankings, gain national exposure, winning the Big East, obtaining a major bowl bid, and getting a huge BCS bowl payout.  I have NO IDEA if this is correct, but I'd venture to stay if USF won yesterday, ESPN's GameDay would have been done from the parking lot of RJS. If I were in charge, I'd be slowing down that contract negotiation process...
  19. I was hoping the game yesterday would take my mind off of things. I guess I can say it did piss me off, but it wasn't really the reaction I was looking for. I am starting to lean towards the, Leavitt IS NOT the guy, bandwagon. You don't have to go any further than the dreaded, Notre Dame, program to see what a REALLY GOOD coach can do for your program IMMEDIATELY. And, I have tried to give Leavitt the benefit of the doubt, but I give you this scenario: 4th & goal - down by 5 points in the opposing team's stadium - not moving the ball very well - 2 field goals win the game - and you try a TRICK PLAY? What the hell? You ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS get points in opposing stadiums. That's simply, Coaching 101. However, as a Brown's fan I'm not sure I would go as far as saying Butch Davis is the man. Sure, he did have a great stint in Miami, but not too sure about his present mental health after the Brown's game where he claimed he was having terrible anxiety, and almost couldn't coach. What is that all about? Seriously. Simply put, Julmiste is the WORST Division I football QB I have ever witnessed in my 42-years-of-life (and, hopefully much more). Anyway, he has no touch, makes  unbelievably poor decisions, telegraphs 80% of his passes, and can't seem to think (AT ALL) under pressure. I can't wait for him to no longer be leading the team. Not really sure what this one is all about? But, I do like pizza...if you ever make it Columbus, OH...Rotolo's is awesome pizza.
  20. Went to the doctor on Wednesday to have what I thought was a pinced nerve checked out. The doctor found a large mass between my left shoulder and armpit in the X-rays. He also thinks there are suspicious "spots" on my lungs. I can't even start the process of finding out what's going on before Monday morning. If I didn't say I was more than a little scared, I'd be lying. Anyway, I could use your prayers. Thanks.
  21. Get it done BEFORE the West Virginia game so there are NO distractions.
  22. Questions: 1. Why is this no longer a thread? 2. Why is this not being talked about? Saw it on CBSSportline.com, and not here? What gives? http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/9055587
