  1. Tough travel schedule in November - back and forth to NJ, NY and CT.
  2. No mention of TV conference games. Looking at other schedules out (WVU, UL, UCONN), it looks they each have 3-4 games alteady scheduled for ESPN/ABC. I wonder if TV has already picked and we are out??
  3. Obviously just a pipe dream that would not work because the 1AA games are HOME schedule fillers and for one of these teams it would be an away game. Just found it an interesting presentation. Mods - please delete the post above as I screwed up without being logged in and can't remove it.
  4. I am all for playing FAMU, but check out this CFN column where the guy proposes that 1A schools dropping their 1AA games could lead to some interesting matchups this year. He suggests the Bulls play FSU (instead of FAMU and the Citadel). http://www.collegefootballnews.com/2005/Spring_Preview/DIAA.htm
  5. Ahhh, afternoons at the Brown Bottle for free beer. And Busch gardens passes (for free beer before they had the rides) were only $10.00 per year in the late 70's. We often went to the Brown Bottle around 3:00, they cut us off at 4:00 and would head over to Busch until about 6:00. Those were great days!
  6. Great thread! 1975 to 1979. Lived in dorms first 3 years. Drinking age was 18 so life was very different for those of us who lived on campus than it is now. Empty Keg (bar in the UC/now Marshall Center) was very lively all the time and was the center of social activity for people in the dorms - beers were $.25 except on Fridays it was $.10. Keg parties every weekend in dorm hallways, etc, etc. The mall had just opened and the only other things on Fowler was a gas station at 15th street and the Holiday Inn plus a couple convenience stores. There was a bar in an old house in the parking lot of the mall. The rest of Fowler was just grass fields. Big event every year was River Riot at the riverfront park on Fletcher. Semi-national bands in an all day affair with endless beer served to about 5,000 who showed up. Anyhow, sports wise, soccer was king and bigger than basketball because it was on campus. Every year the big soccer game was the Mayor's cup against UTampa and it alternated back and forth. That game drew a few thousand fans and many students traveled to the game when it was downtown. Basketball was fairly new and we played initially at Curtis Hixon hall downtown. Eventually had games at the Fairgrounds, Bayfront Center and some in the old gym on campus. Less than a few hundred fans went to the games, except for North Carolina at the Bayfront. Probably drew about 5,000 with at least 80% in Carolina Blue. The SunDome was a construction site and many of us questioned the vision of 10,000 attending a basketball game. Football was barely discussed. Turned out to be the best years of my life. I would not trade my USF experience for any other school - we were the best kept secret in the South.
  7. Cincy has signed Western Carolina so that wraps up everybody's OOC schedule. Hopefully the BE can get the schedule out in the next couple days.
  8. That was my first thought. Didn't someone on this board say our agreement with TSA/Glazers was to pay for 6 games per year. Maybe we have to drop $125,000 X 6 every year (if that is the figure).
  9. I did not see the game, but it looks like a great effort against the #9 team in the country in front of over 19,800 fans. I truly expected another 30 - 40 point fiasco. Given this, the next 2 games seem winnable.
  10. I hate to say it, but we only had about 1500 people for a saturday night game AFTER we won 2 consecutive games. I don't think "hanging in" with UL and even winning at Houston is going to change the crowd for next saturday. I would think we will be lucky to get 1500 again (box score will say 3,000).
  11. Leader of the Velcrons, you may be on to something there. 1980 celebration = UL loss? hmmm.....
  12. Is it time to put some dough on our Bulls? Seriously, do you guys think we can keep it under 25?
  13. Are these the single game prices too? So, except for the south end zone, $20 tickets are going to $24 and $24 tickets to $32? I think $32 may be over the max a casual fan will pay. It might be time to have different prices for different opponents like other schools do. WVU and UL should be the new prices with Cincy, FAMU and UCF at the old prices. I fear this was too much of an increase given last year's product and sales.
  14. Hate to be selfish, but I welcome this news so we actually will play on Saturdays.
  15. And why does scout.com still have us with only 18 commits? Can someone explain this to me? http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=14
  16. I doubt it is a misprint. Most schools have a young alum price for a couple years after they graduate to ease them into paying full price and making donations.
  17. Who are these velcrons of which you speak? Are you born a velron or can you "become" one? You are the leader of how many velcrons? Do all velcrons live in velrico? I have so many more questions.
  18. Freak blizzard hits louisville saturday morning - teams already at freedom hall, but most fans are snowed in - only 200 students can make it to the empty venue. The crowd is taken out of the game early. Dean and Garcia are no shows - they can't be found anywhere and are not answering their cell phones. Swift plays 40 minutes and has the game of his life scoring 40 points (including 10 3's). Leather crashes the glass for 23 (count 'em 23) rebounds. Bulls come alive at the line shooting 100% for 30 free throws. Bulls win 81 - 80, but no one knows as the TV, radio and stat crews have major storm difficulties and cannot broadcast or communicate with anyone outside the dome. Great win - Bulls move to 4-7 inching closer to a memphis trip.
  19. I can't go against the Bulls. BULLS WIN 1 Swift 25 Leather 9 65% Attendance: 19,354 (More than half of our football games - take a deep breath at the line, guys)
  20. Disagree - Swift didn't play that bad. He couldn't get anything to fall the first half while taking his usual barrage of open 3s and short fade aways. He is always forcing shots inside the arc but they usually fall. Agree - With TL hurt/sick/head-not-in-game, we have no inside play. I don't understand why Jones bobbles the ball so much - are his hands too small for his frame - he does have a really hard time holding onto the ball. Also, all of our big guys (TL, KD, SJ) were getting KILLED on the glass. No one was crashing the glass. They all kind of hung back hoping someone else would go for the rebound.
  21. I meant the inflated number was a joke, not the student turnout. Hey, what are you doing sitting in front of a computer at 11pm on your 21st birthday?
