  1. The few UCF fans that straggled to Ybor after the game were pretty quiet. What could they say? Next year in O-town should be fun.
  2. I do not know what Howie said or did - and I could care less. He is entitled to his own opinions. I met Howie a few seasons ago when Beef's on Fowler was the in place for watch parties. He was a nice chap and an all around great USF fan. Come on back man. (too bad I do not have such nice words for Folwer Beef's right now)
  3. 63-27, and yes, I have been dying to type in that subject title all day. ;D ;D ;D
  4. http://www.athlonsports.com/pollBooth.php3?question_id=3866&answer_id=6
  5. Day Burress (Clemson) 2909 / 4 % Lindsey Buehler (Penn State) 10257 / 16 % Casey Martin (Texas Tech) 9521 / 15 % Chelsey (UCLA) 972 / 1 % Alaina Carson (Auburn) 20950 / 33 % Crystal Hollobaugh (South Florida) 18037 / 28 % It looks like our vote-bot is catching up to Auburn's vote-bot.
  6. You better check the Adam's Apple first before deciding the gender, or you could use Mick Dundee's method of "saying hello" 'cause he's Australian.
  7. Things are slowly changing Day Burress (Clemson) 2784 / 4 % Lindsey Buehler (Penn State) 9476 / 16 % Casey Martin (Texas Tech) 9171 / 16 % Chelsey (UCLA) 926 / 1 % Alaina Carson (Auburn) 19359 / 34 % Crystal Hollobaugh (South Florida) 14811 / 26 % but Crystal is still 4,500+ votes behind
  8. UCF used to have a fairly decent program, but their previous coach really screwed things up at the end of his tenure. O'Liar had nothing to work with last year, and he does not have much this year either except for that big pile of dougnuts on his desk. I would rather see a game against UCF than any 1-AA team, and even with UCF's goose-egg record, they are still better than FAU & FIU at this time. Other states have dominating rivalries - look at Purdue & Indiana. Purdue has clobbered IU for so long that most Hoosiers cannot remeber when they last won the game. However, they still play the game on a regular basis.
  9. Too many SEC homers voting here. Who would you rather see win round one? a) a short Katie Couric look-alike, albeit cute Alaina Carson or traditional blonde Florida hottie Crystal Hollobaugh A Big East girl from West Virginia won it last year, so get with it Big East homers - start stuffing the ballot box.
  10. Wannstedt a recruiter? Like how he recruited Marino into retirement? Marino in a wheelchair with two broken arms is still better than Fiedler or any other useless quarterbacks that Wannstedt used as the Dolphins coach. I won't even get into the disaster he created at Chicago with the Bears.
  11. What are you upset that the Oracle would not publish your fanboi letters on how much you love X, Y, or Z? No wonder the previous Oracle editors took a pot shot at some of the people on this message board.
  12. I have been saying for years that Dave Wannstedt is a lousy coach, at the NFL, college or even the pee-wee league level. He always hid under some other great coach's skirt; his true colors have shown since he became the top guy. Screw Pitt. They hired this idiot, so the got what they deserved. Their troubles might make it easier for USF to beat them. I wonder if Dan Marino is secretly smiling right now. The sucky ex-Bears coach who basically told the greatest quarterback of all time that his services were no longer needed struggled at the Dolphins and is now struggling at his alma mater.
  13. Sorry dude, but those TV shopping channels pay big-time commisions to the cable companies for air time. So Brighthouse has a choice, air the stupid jewlery channel for profits, or air the sports programming for charity. What option did you think they would choose? Free enterprise, making profits, all hail republicanism, and stuff. What do you think this is, a socialist society?
  14. I got to disagree on this one. I did not see alot of hotties at the game except this one USF chick with big knockers. However, I spent plenty of time in State College downtown bars Friday and Saturday night. Smoking chicks everywhere, and sadly, I am about 10 to 13 years older than all of them One thing I noticed about the girls is that all of the ones with good figures were wearing short skirts. I guess they want to air out their thighs before it gets too cold up there. Nothing is funnier than seeing a chick with a huge rack and wearing a tight T-shirt that says "Happy Valley" across the chest. I will have to check out the young-ins at Ybor this weekend to determine if the USF chicks still have the charm or have slid down a notch on the hottie scale. One thing that they have which has disapeared from the Tampa area is cheap drinks. All of the St. College bars were charging $3 to $5 covers, but once you got inside, you could get a good sized and stiffly poured Captain and Coke for only $2.50. The bartenders eyes pop out when you leave them a dollar tip for one drink. I made sure that they saw my USF t-shirt when I tipped them. We may have lost the game, but we are not sore losers and appreciate a consolation drink after the game.
  15. The infants are not the problem. They sleep through the entire game. It is the 3 to whatever year olds that first jam 50 lbs. of sugar down their throats when the game starts, and then figet in their seats for the last 3 quarters. The inbread rubes that are their parents are too busy swilling beer to pay attention to the brats, so the kids start making noise. The stupid balloons that are batted around are really annoying, because the kids go insane when they float around. Those kids have an early warning from me on those ballons - I will pop them on sight. The old wives tale about kids being chick magnets are just that - old wives tales. The chicks assume you are married, so you are "safe". When they find that you are not married, they think you are scum bag that is just using the female population as the repository for your deamon seed. Well the control freaks at RJS have published rules against foul language etc, so you can always complain to a "security guard" or rent-a-cop. I would have to disagree that the games are a "family event". That reminds me of the time when I first turned 21 and was told by a manager at Hooters that "Hooters was a family restuarant. Hmm, the girls wear very tight small shorts and tight t-shirts that expose heaving breasts. Mind you I was told this after midnight, so the kiddies should be in bed and not at Hooters. While I make it a "family event" by attending with my folks and brothers, it is certainly not a church gathering. None of us drink at the games, but a dumb play from our team or a dirty tackle from the other team will inspire a few colorful explectives from one of my parents who rarely curses outside of the games. This is not a Vulcan meditation ceremony, so if you cannot deal with sudden outburts of emotion, then maybe you should rethink where you spend your entertainment dollars.
  16. I love how smazza throws gas on the fire, and all the fanbois go insane with a pathetic attempt a a witty response. The fanboi-ism is like the scene in Eddie Murphy's "Coming to America" where he is bathing and needs to take a royal dump, so the head servant claps his hands and shouts "Wipers!" Who here is one of Leavitt's wipers?
  17. Dude are you insane? Do you have any idea of the responses you will get from that question on this board? People will get angry and TYPE IN ALL CAPS SO SHOW THAT THEY ARE MAD AS HELL!!!! THEY WILL ALSO ADD MANY EXCLAMATION POINTS TO PROVE THEIR POINT!!!!!!! Then they will whine about how Leavitt had to coach from a porta-potty, feed his players the scraps from the cafeteria garbage cans, and practice on fields sown with crap grass littered with cow crap. And how dare you insult the hometown boy done good? Who cares if he has not acheived any championships. He is a Saint Petersburg hometown boy; that is good enough for us. He just loves the Tampa Bay area so much that he would never armwrestle a salary raise from USF by interviewing for jobs at Indiana and Alabama. No, not good ole hometown boy Jim Leavitt. Seriously dude, are you a troll? What kind of flamewar did you intend to start? OK for the thin-skinned and thick skulled, the previous paragraphs were a form of sarcasm, so don't get your jockstraps in a bind. Heck I like Jim Leavitt. I hope he turns the team around from last years debacle. However, nice guys finish last, and being in last place sucks. Honestly he is the typical USF type of sports coach. Just good enough and real cheap salary-wise. The truth hurts, doesn't it?
  18. It it never too early to discuss this. Which sports bars will participate in the official Bulls Club (run by the Athletic Assc) for the upcomming season? Personally I will attend the games at Penn State and Miami, but I could volunteer to help out at the other road games if they are televised. This is probably a good time ask Eric Soncrant if he has any details on the watch parties.
  19. 1) he is in college so he is an adult, so calling him a "kid" is just as insulting 2) constructive criticism is good 3) not everyone on this board is an athelete, however most of the people on this board are not "fluffers" for the team or the coaching staff
  20. Amen brother. Nobody is saying that CJL sucks. He just does not deserve a raise until he takes USF to the next level. If you really want to push the issue and annoy the CJL fanbois, then look at Howard Schnellenberger. He took FAU to the D-1AA playoffs, and he only makes $150,000. Even CJL could not do that, and he had M. Blackwell as QB.
  21. I wish they had that when I got my master's degree.
  22. Actually, the Oracle writer hit the nail on the head. Sorry for you fans with the green and gold colored glasses, but the spring game was an embarrassment. I am as big as a fan as anyone, but I can view the situation from an outsiders perspective, and this spring game was a stinker. Back in my days at USF, a few of us renegades used the Oracle to put the student government through the meat grinder. That was fun stuff and we got a few peoples' panties bound up in a wad. This guy is just attacking the most visible subject matter currently on campus. A good journalist knows that you do not go after the BMOC unless you have some facts, and the poor play of the team gives him all the evidence he needs. The offense was offensive. You are not going to sell season tickets when your demo product is that bad. They should have put this event on campus. Just the amount of electricity wasted on "3,800 people" should have the USF financial auditors complaining about wasting valuable monetary resources. Of course, the beer-swilling crowd will yap about the "tailgating" and beer drinking at RJS. Do any of you even watch the game, or you more concerned about how much alcohol you can consume? I go to football games for football. If I want to get drunk, I will go to Ybor City, some beach bar in St. Pete, or my local sports bar. The product displayed on the field Saturday barely registered as football, so maybe large quantities of alcohol were required for this event.
