  1. 1st two years in the Metro. NCAA at large bid. Bounced in first round. Nothing beats a Gary Alexander slam dunk with the cannon exploding. I know we beat FSU one year, and I think we beat UF another year.
  2. Funny, it is illegal to take a non-motorized vehicle on interstates and most bridges (unless they have a sidewalk for non-vehicles), but I am unfamiliar with Courtney Campbell since I rarely drive that bridge. That being said, I believe Fisher lost his license because he did not pay child support. Some laws are very stupid, and put people in positions where they will only perform more illegal activities. They want you to pay child support, so you have to go to work, which typically involves driving to get to work, but they took away your license because you did not pay child support, so you either do not work and not pay child support and break that law, or you drive a car to get to work and break that law, etc, etc, etc.
  3. Not defending Fisher either, but... Maybe he was driving to HCC to attend a class? Who knows why he was driving. The public transportation in Tampa, let alone Florida is pathetic. Taking away someones driver's license is like taking away the ablity to breathe air. Driving may be a privlege, but you cannot function in today's society without a car. One day people will figure this out, but probably only after we run out of oil.
  4. The AKC/Eukanuba National Championship was a smashing success this past weekend in Tampa. Some points of pride for Tampa Tampa set an all-time attendance record for the AKC National Championship The AKC National Championship set an all-time attendance record for the Tampa Convention Center Tampa will host the 2006 AKC National Championship I wish I had some hard facts for the attendance numbers, but these facts were announced at the show just prior to the Best of Show competition. The AKC National Agility Championship and AKC National Obedience Invitational were also held at the convention center this weekend. FYI, the AKC National Championship is on equal par to Westminster Kennel Club Championship (New York City) and Crufts (Great Britain).
  5. Ok, it kind of looks like those rejected Bulls logos that surfaced on the internet before USF switched to the iconic U logo. Kind of a cartoonish bull; it looked funny to me.
  6. What the heck is this logo on the http://southflorida.scout.com/ site? ???
  7. You guys are harsh. Not everyone is bulletin board savy, let alone internet savy, so don't be such a geek, stop yanking your joystick and stroking your mouse, and help these people. No wonder members of the fairer sex rarely post on this BB. But back to traditions, a good old cheerleader (or fan) driven cheer of "Green" and "Gold" between sections always works. Do not make cheers that involve fans too complicated. Simple ones are easy to remember, and are usually successfull.
  8. I really wonder if the BE will allow cowbells and/or cannons. The Big Ten still allows Purdue to blow its train whistle. Other teams in the B-10 probably have their traditions as well. We may not have been playing for 100+ years, but we still have traditions from the old Sun Belt days. At least cowbells and cannons are better than that cornball Va Tech "Hokie Hi" chant.
  9. I stopped watching the NBA years ago, so I lost track of our one NBA pro. Rudy T is a good coach; Chuck should benefit from him. Too bad he has to play with such ilk as Kobe.
  10. I prefer 97X or 98 Rock or a CD instead. I get tired of these supposed insiders like Steve Duemig whose ultimate goal in life is to sniff Mike Alstots jock strap. He "don't know Jack", and if he does, who cares. I know a Jack whose last name is Daniels.
  11. The damned Metro made us turn off the cannons and would not let us bring cowbells. We had the cannons for non-Metro games. CUSA carried over the same rules since they were a merger of the Metro and the Great Midwest. That is why the a-holes of CUSA would not allow cowbells in football games. The cowbells are an old-school USF thing (well at least late 80's - early 90's USF thing).
  12. Agreed. Only college professors have tenure, and they have to slave for years and prove themselves before they get it. As Al Davis once said: "Just Win Baby!"
  13. Ok, to put it on topic ::grinrabbit:: Maybe the 49'ers will try to hire CJL. USF could then hire Dennis Ericson. He did win 2 national championships, and he is a better college coach than an NFL coach. Never mind - move to another board. The 49'ers suck. ::triggerhappy:: ::knighted:
  14. Any more details? Number of seats? Bench or individual seats? Many questions for a price that cheap. Did they hire that crook Steve LaBrake to estimate the construction costs? He sure was good at fudging numbers until they busted him. (More info on LaBrake if you are too lazy to google his name http://www.sptimes.com/2004/11/18/Hillsborough/LaBrake_takes_stand__.shtml) If they can build it than good for them.
  15. Who remembers Pete Carroll's infamous "choke" signal against the Dolphins when he was a coach for the Jets. I am surrprised the Miami faithful did not run him out of town after the bowl game.
  16. Here is a Doom scenario for you. Our quarterbacks move like the living dead 8)
  17. It sounds like Mike Hobbie gets PR advice from the same people that said the US would find WMD's in Iraq. It was not true, but a large majority of the US still believe. I wonder if the Earth is flat and men did not land on the moon?
  18. What I find funny is that Brett wrote that he would not reply to responses to his post, but people still asked him questions on the forum. He clearly stated to email him, and he would respond to all of them. This makes you wonder if USF students graduate with any reading comprehension skills. ??? :
  19. If that game was playing for respect, then we should change our mascot to "The Dangerfields" ( the upmost respect to the late Rodney Dangerfield )
  20. They tried to get Leavitt two years ago, but he turned them down. Do you think they will try again? IU losing to Purdue is worse than the UF-FSU rivalry. The kicker is that Purdue has dominated IU for many years, and IU alumni tired of it. IU has deeper pockets than USF. Time to worry or time to celebrate (pending on your view of CJL)? http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/7949426
  21. $4.75 over-iced sodas $8.00 warm flat beers 1000 USF students show up for free student tickets No Sports-Chics and Hootie the Owl contest because dumb blonde is recovering from night job at 2001 Odyssey RJS jumbotron plays cool USF FootBulls CGI along with lame-ass Black-eyed Peas song (what happed to hard rock?) USF enters the "Green Zone" and ends up as road-kill If we are really lucky - USF Bulls castrate Pitt Panthers
  22. Is Leavitt on the ND list after Urban Meyer? BTW, the first name "Urban" is ironic for a coach of ND or Utah for that matter. A coach named "Urban" belongs in a big city, perhaps UCLA?
  23. Not to start a flame war over religion, but ND is a catholic school. I visited the ND campus, and going to church is a requirement of the school. The alumni and former players ***** about high academic standards keeping out blue chip players. What about religion standards? Could ND stomach a Southern Baptist player? Maybe a Muslim player? How about a Lutheran player? Would they get offended if he nailed the 95 thesis to the ND church door on Martin Luther day? What if the best available coach was Jewish? Would they "force" the player or coach to convert to Catholic? Is it possible that the best players with the highest SAT scores are atheists?
  24. According to the FS-who poster, colleges have a claim on former players for coaches. Can we get Bill Grammatica as kicking coach? What about Marquel Blackwell as QB coach? Maybe Brian Fisher as financial coach? ;D 8) :
