  1. Believe his address could be either DWoolard@admin.usf.edu or just Woolard@admin.usf.edu. He does have a private line to his office...but you can reach his Administration Assistant Barbara Sparks via email or phone in the following link. http://gobulls.usf.edu/admin/directory.htm Hope that helps. KL
  2. Actually, it was 2002 and 2003 that all NCAA Teams were allowed to schedule 12 games. USF was the only school in the Country to play only 11 games both years. Since scheduling has been a problem over the past 3-4 years...one would think this would of been Project #1 for new AD. Most 117 other schools manage to plan years in advance. Why can't USF?? Yes...games are cancelled, moved, teams switch different conferences...but almost every AD has a "waiting" list to call to help fill in their schedule. Heck...I'll think many fans/boosters/business people in Tampa could just take an independent contractor job from USF and work on scheduling...and be done with it in just a few weeks per year. If its not "Rocket Science"...then why does EVERY USF AD make it so?? Something in the water in their offices?? KL
  3. Zook's "forte" was recruiting. It means SQUAT if you can't get GREAT players to play as a team. That's why Zook has a 14-14 record vs BCS Teams. That's why he was fired...and his "forte" didn't mean squat in the end. KL
  4. I wish UCF had the "experience" and all the Upperclassmen that USF has on their DL and OL. USF has 2 Seniors, 1 Jr, and 1 Soph on DL...and has a total of 4 Seniors, 3 Juniors and only 1 Soph on DL 2-Deep Depth Chart.  That's not too young at all. USF hurts alittle in 2-deep OL...but their Starting OL has 3 Seniors and 2 Juniors...some redshirted. That's good experience (and YEARS of College Training/Weightlifting) to have. UCF starts 2 TRUE Freshmen on DL, 1 Soph and 1 Junior. UCF starts 2 TRUE Freshmen on OL, and 3 Soph. USF is a very OLD team compared to UCF in the trenches. KL PS. Plus, USF has pretty good size on both OL and DL. OL averages 6'4" 297 lbs and ya'lls DL averages 6'3" 269 lbs.
  5. I may call for him to be taken outside, shot, dragged around campus, and posted on a stake as a warning for future offensive coordinators who don't seem to understand what is happening on the field. So...how do you really feel about that Coach?? Wow! KL
  6. Have you seen UCF play this year?? But I think you hit home on another thread when you said: "You know what, maybe we have become too full of ourselves, especially if the players are like the fans here." With all the GREAT NEWS of USF's recruiting over the past few years...that has been spilled onto all your fans...and with the success of your earlier years beating some Div I-A Teams with mostly Div I-AA recruits...I think USF fans thought they wouldn't have problems this year. If you have the recruits, if you have the players...that only leaves Coaching. From many a post...seems like ya'll have SEVERAL coaching problems on Defense and Offense. Back to your main point...I'm GLAD we don't play ya'll this year...and nervous as heck of what Hall could do to us next Sept...if we can't turn our own ship around by then. KL
  7. LOL!!! EVERY 2nd String QB gets reps with 1st Team Offense...especially with 2-a-day practices. Are you new to how football teams practice?? LOL!! Wow...talk about NEWBIES!!! KL PS. Moffett has looked MUCH better this fall...then obviously last fall...and even this Spring...but he still has a long way to go. Wished our QB depth was better this year as it would be nice to redshirt Israel this year...but I think he will play some this year (especially since Martinsen will also be eligible next year).
  8. Depth is SOOOOO important at QB. It was just a little over 2 years ago....USF fans were celebrating the record setting QB Evan K from PA onto their roster. Heck, sometimes the best QB on the team...is the one that wasn't recruiting/rated the highest (Ryan Schneider held that spot for almost 4 years at UCF...didn't get scholarship offer to the last min from Hawaii, Houston...then finally UCF). That's why Coaches use practices to find their best QB...not which one came into camp with the highest rating. Best man usually wins. (Said "usually"). KL
  9. In a few practices so far, Israel is a BIG Kid...strong arm...but as a Freshmen he has TONS to learn. He focuses much on 1st option receivers...has to learn where the #2 and #3 guys are and will be...but that takes time. He is just trying to learn the basics. It would be great if he could redshirt, but because of the loss of Connelly...and Sumner's up/down...mostly down career (hopefully will have a fresh start under O'Leary...same HC who recruited him out of Daytona Beach and orginally signed with GT), Israel might have to play this year. Thanks though for asking!! KL
  10. Congrats on Denson. Good athlete...believe he picked Auburn over Rutgers originally. Only thing I don't understand is how if you go to Superprep.com...and you get Insidersrecruiting....they listed Denson as the #32 QB in the Nation. http://scout.theinsiders.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=11&cfg=null&sFirstName=Courtney&sLastName=Denson&yr=2003 I'm sure he might get a shot at QB...but I think this kid (very good athlete) might be able to see the field quicker if he played DB...like Auburn practiced him at. KL PS. Oh...and look who was ranked ABOVE Denson that is currently at UCF?? #2 QB in the State from 2003!!! Oh...add Martinsen now on UCF's Team (has to redshirt this year), and UCF will have 2 out of the Top 5 QB's from the State of FLA from 2003!!! List for Top QB's from FLA in 2003 http://scout.theinsiders.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=11&cfg=null&pid=10&iSchoolStateProvinceId=62&iRatingValue=-1&yr=2003&iGetJUCOFlag=-1&iCommitFlag=-1&iGroupbyPosition=0&sTeamofInterestNodeIds=-1&iInterestLevelId=-1&iOffer=-1&iRecruitVisitFlag=-1&OrderbyColumn=RatingValue
  11. Got my photo with the Cup yesterday will "touching" this sacred piece of Human History. Yesterday was a "good" day. KL
  12. Mean the morale of the Teachers (almost all members of the Teacher Unions) DROPPED when twice in a row...Bush won the Gov's race over their UNION's Top Choice?? Most would consider that a GOOD THING!! KL
  13. Actually, Byrd and R-King from Jacksonville tried to bypass much of the legislative process with their large pet projects. They both tried to slide in the extra funds during the negotiation process...and not directly on the floor of their chambers. That didn't work. Bush rejected them both. --------------------- http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/state/orl-asecbudget29052904may29,1,4822306,print.story Vetoes trim state budget Gov. Bush cuts $349 million, OKs worker training in Orlando By Bob Mahlburg Tallahassee Bureau May 29, 2004 TALLAHASSEE -- Gov. Jeb Bush vetoed a record $349 million in proposed spending before signing a $57.3 billion state budget on Friday, eliminating money for projects ranging from a pilot pre-kindergarten program and assistance to 21 medical trauma centers to $2 million in proposed security improvements for Orlando International Airport. And in a slap at the Legislature's leaders who battled with Bush off-and-on during the past two years, the governor vetoed $12 million for an Alzheimer's disease research center named after House Speaker Johnnie Byrd's father, who died of the disease, and $3 million that Senate President Jim King tabbed for a biomedical research program named for his late parents. Byrd and King added that extra money for the projects during budget negotiations. But Bush spared money for a key Orlando economic-incentive project, saying he was impressed by a $4.2 million University of Central Florida program to train prospective employees of Electronic Arts, a California-based game company. "That is the kind of win-win we're excited about," Bush said. Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer welcomed the news and said he thinks the financial package -- which includes another $36 million from Orlando, Orange County and UCF -- will entice EA and its 775 jobs to move to downtown Orlando. "That's wonderful," Dyer said. "The Governor's Office worked for us in creating that funding, so I would have been extremely surprised if he did veto it." Set priorities The governor said many of the vetoed projects were worthwhile but said that long-term financial pressures -- to pay for schools, a pre-kindergarten program mandated to take effect in 2005, smaller class sizes and a rapidly growing Medicaid program -- must take priority. "They're done with the best intentions, but we can't afford them if we're going to meet the needs of the broader issues of this state," he said. Bush's previous record for vetoes was $290 million in 2001; the total was only $33 million last year. He said this year's amount reflects that this year's $57.3 billion budget has grown under pressure from interest groups and an improving economy. "The pressure to spend is extraordinary," he said. Bush, who is in his second term as governor, doesn't need to worry about angering voters because he won't run again for the state's top post. But cuts could impact other Republican candidates in Florida, including Bush's older brother in the November presidential election. Bush's past vetoes have caused hard feelings with some legislative leaders, and the deep cuts could add to tensions with lawmakers in his final two years. He said he understands how local legislators have to face voters "down at the Rotary Club" after losing local projects. But he noted that the overall budget is up $2.8 billion, or 5.1 percent, from this year. The governor said he didn't intend to single out King, R-Jacksonville, and Byrd, R-Plant City, by vetoing their "turkeys," saying they were among many projects that hadn't been properly reviewed by legislative committees. He cited his vetoes of $5 million for a Hillsborough County courthouse project in Byrd's hometown, and three other courthouses. "It's not about the speaker or the president," Bush said. "I vetoed them all." Byrd's year-old Alzheimer's center, at the University of South Florida, does get $15 million in the current year. King's proposed center for biomedical research, though, will not be created at Florida State University. Bush also slashed $1.5 million for police and fire equipment in the tiny St. Johns River community of Welaka, where King has a vacation home. But he said he made an exception to keep money to buy a fire truck long sought for the North Florida town of Carrabelle by Sen. Al Lawson, D-Tallahassee. Bush said he left that item because he likes Lawson and he is important as "a player" in Statehouse matters. King, who is on vacation, issued a statement Friday, saying: "Respectfully, we disagree with some of the governor's vetoes, but we recognize his authority to veto items as one of the steps in this process." A Byrd spokesman said he would have no comment. The budget includes more money for schools, the environment, social services and economic incentives. It also calls for $220 million in tax relief, including a sales-tax holiday and a gas-tax cut in August. Medicaid HMO goes The biggest single item vetoed was a controversial $56.3 million plan -- strongly backed by Byrd -- that would have forced thousands of elderly Medicaid patients to join HMOs. Bush also vetoed $7.6 million for added security for the Super Bowl in Jacksonville next February -- though another $2 million for security survived -- and $10 million in subsidy payments for a workers' compensation insurance pool. Bush said the Super Bowl funding could set a dangerous financial precedent and "announce to the word we would spend $10 million every time a Super Bowl comes" to Florida. Bush vetoed only a handful of mostly small projects in Central Florida. The biggest was $2 million in proposed security improvements for Orlando International Airport. The $2 million loss in funds could slow down a multiyear project of security upgrades but will not stop it, said Carolyn Fennell, an OIA spokeswoman. The $140 million project includes moving baggage scanners from public areas to other parts of the terminal, making more room for passengers, Fennell said. And Orlando Regional Medical Center is one of 21 trauma centers in the state that won't share a proposed $20.7 million subsidy. ORMC has said it can't afford to keep running the region's only Class I trauma center without additional aid. Bush said he vetoed the pilot pre-kindergarten program because he thought the summer program was "impractical if not impossible." But Bush said he still backs the pre-K concept, adding, "I'm hopeful we can sign that bill." Lawmakers had been unable to agree on such issues as teacher standards and length of class days for the program, which must begin statewide in the fall of 2005. As a compromise, they provided $7 million for a pilot summer program in 10 counties, including Osceola. But many education officials objected that little would be learned from a pilot summer program -- and that there was too little time to do it right. Tom Greer, Osceola County school board chairman, said he was "tickled" by the veto. "We wanted to be part of pre-K," he said. But without the governor's intervention, "We would have had to start classes next Tuesday to get the hours in." The district sent out a flier last week telling parents about the program and urging them to sign up. Only five parents had signed up as of Friday. Barry Flynn, Tania deLuzuriaga, Leslie Postal and Beth Kassab of the Sentinel staff contributed to this report. Bob Mahlburg can be reached at bmahlburg@orlandosentinel.com or 850-222-5564.

  16. Well, if you call athletes getting in trouble with the law "not a scandal"....then congrats! If you call offering a job to one of 2 finalist WITHOUT a complete background check...which was filled with Cocaine charges, DUI, State and Federal Tax Liens, not a scandal, congrats. On the other hand...no doubt Big East invite was a big boost to Football...but more so to Basketball. KL PS. On UCF's hand...winning 9 Conf Championships this year...best Hoop record since entering Div I-A, etc...that was great. Almost a 4.75 on a 5 pt scale But "our" scandal/disaster on/off the field with Football was a -2. Boost obviously to O'Leary hiring (considering how LOW UCF was) helped alot. I'd say a 3.5 overall for UCF. KL KL
  17. Ouch!! My sides!! My sides!!! They hurt from LAUGHING!! (Sad fact though that kidnapping is a serious problem) KL
  18. Won't find another country that LOVES Americans more then the Republic of Ireland!!! Their tourist industry is BOOMING over there...plus their economy has done a 180 over the past 5-8 years since they joined the EU. Now...someone in Northern Ireland might look at an American and say "What they hell are you going here??" Nicest people in the World...in the land of Ireland!! (Not a bad statement for a person who is a Protestant!) One of the best places to stay....Ashford Castle!! Oh, its haunted too! http://www.irish-manors.com/ashford.html http://www.ashford.ie/welcome.htm Also, try the Kilkea Castle. Great Golf Resort too! http://www.kilkeacastle.ie/ Whatever you do...try and stay in as many Castle's as you can. They are a BLAST! KL
  19. As they say..."Father Knows Best!" Sounds like it should be a FUN week for sure! KL
  20. UCF has funding/sponsorship for its own indoor practice facility. Of course, some environmental hurdles are slowed this process (aka "Look!! Another Turtle!!). But it should be completed sometime this fall. Nothing worse then having a FLA Lightning Storm wipe out improtant practices on a Tues-Wed-Thur...during the week of a big game. KL
  21. All Conference sifts depended on Boston College moving "early" to the ACC for 2004. Because BC "missed" the dealine last year (believe it was June 30) to move to ACC this July 1...it was all up to the Big East and TV Deals on whether they would allow BC to jump ship early. BC, Big East, and TV Contracts couldn't be worked out...and with a high penalty...BC decided to stay. If BC would of moved to the ACC on July 1, 2004...then all Conferences were open to allow teams to move to their new conferences a year early...to avoid a "dead-end" year. CUSA teams would of jumped ship early to Big East...Marshall/UCF would of left the MAC for CUSA early, and so on... It started and stopped with BC. KL
  22. AD sounds like George Castanza: "It's not a lie, if you believe". I like his quote :"In this sense, Orange is not a color, not a fruit." Ok...someone please go break the news to this guy. KL
  23. Oh...then I guess I shouldn't tell you about the ankle injury that Smarty Jones got this morning. Just announced on ESPN Radio 5-10 mins ago. Hope that doesn't spoil your trip. KL PS. Just Kidding!
