  1. Here's a link that explains the process, starting on page 19. From the way that reads, everyone wishing to host has to go through the application process. http://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/files/2018D1MBA_PreChampsMan_20180214.pdf Here's the first paragraph of that section for those who don't wanna click: "Any institution or conference interested in hosting a preliminary round of the 2018 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship must submit a proposed budget, facility evaluation form, key contacts form, proof of insurance and video board questionnaire (if applicable) to be considered to host. A separate proposed budget and key contacts form must be submitted for each round that an institution or conference is interested in hosting. Please respond to sport-specific questions and ensure the institution’s key contacts and facility information are up to date via the Championships Bid and Host Profile portal. To submit a bid, first search for the desired championship under “championships available for bid” and select “add bid.”
  2. Were they really though? Coastal Carolina was one spot ahead of us in RPI and it look them beating Troy in their Conf Champ to get to that point. Not to mention we had 14 wins over teams that are in the field....Coastal Carolina had 8.
  3. Whatever the process may be, if you're telling me you're okay with the fact that schools like ECU, Coastal Carolina, and Stetson can find a way to do it but we can't, I guess we just have differing opinions on where we are as a program.
  4. They tried to....the athletic dept. chose not to give them any relevant information on a simple request.
  5. Man power for what? Submitting a 5 question online application that would take an intern 3 minutes to fill out? Longest of long shots? The #1 criteria the committee uses for selecting teams to the tournament is RPI. We finished 18th in RPI, 16 teams host...Also, as the article states, the deadline to submit the application was before the Conf Tourney. Had we beat UCONN again and then gone onto beat ECU, that would've been two additional wins against the #16 and #12 RPI teams. I'd say that's about as good of case we'll ever have to host. The optics of the whole situation are just absolutely terrible. It's just not something an athletic program with our aspirations should be struggling with.
  6. We continue to prove time and time again that we are a minor league athletic program run by minor league people.
  7. Sure, I'll gladly post a reason. By and large Yards Per Play has universally become the best way to evaluate how effective an offense is. Even if you don't agree with that, the author gave multiple other reasons to show how ineffective the offense was compared to the prior year. Based on your post, I assumed there was no use in arguing with you as there is little to no chance you'd change your point of view.
  8. Dude you are literally the definition of a smart ass. Literally I don't know if I've ever seen you post on here or any other site without being smartass about something/towards someone.
  9. I sometimes get the feeling he’s gotten to the point where he’s just trolling the whole fan base because it gets people stirred up and drives more clicks. I don’t think he truly enjoys covering the team even the slightest bit and merely does it because it gives him a weekly paycheck.
  10. TBH, RB is the starting position I’m the least worried about, besides maybe CB. Cronkite is the real deal and as long as he stays healthy, we’ll be set. However, I’m not overly thrilled with the way we’ve recruited the position over the last couple years and I think the lack of depth at the position shows.
  11. **** I was really hoping we would bring Blackwell home if Kings leaves for the Tennessee job in the next couple weeks. scratch that, just saw they filled the position last night
  12. Not really that big of a story, but it still made me proud and I figured I’d share. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/02/05/only-one-patriots-player-spoke-on-locker-cleanout-day/
  13. To be honest, I don't think it'd be the worst idea. I'd love it too because it would give me a reason to watch football in the middle of the summer when I'm usually stuck watching the rays play in an empty against teams they can't realistically compete against.
  14. He was at practice all week...that's where almost all of the evaluation took place. By all accounts, he had a pretty underwhelming week of practice. They actually yanked him off the field at one point because he couldn't take a snap under center, fumbling two straight at one point. I love the kid to death and would consider taking a bullet for him, but he has absolutely no chance of playing QB. Needs to start working out as a WR/RB unless he wants to go to Canada. They did say that numerous CFL scouts were there last week and told him straight up they would love him at QB. So he's gonna have a pretty tough decision.
  15. No I'm not saying that at all. I'm just saying I don't think he is the guy we need to take us to the next level and it wouldn't be a bad thing at all if he decided to leave.
  16. He sure is tearing it up on the recruiting trail so far.... https://247sports.com/Season/2018-Football/CompositeTeamRankings?Conference=AAC
  17. The problem is we didn't have one year for him to be able to figure it out with his own system and players. I feel pretty strongly that a major reason he was hired was because Harlan believed we needed an established coach who could come in and simply take the talent we had on the roster and not screw it up. He knew this was supposed to be the year the program was taken to the next level and didn't want a first time head coach learning on the job. If you would've told me last year when we were looking for a coach that we were gonna go 9-2, while sitting on our asses yet again on the first Saturday in December and then taking another trip back to wonderful Birmingham, I would've said just find an up and coming coordinator or smaller G5 head coach who is hungry and wants to make a name for himself. The G5 teams that have had success lately have done exactly that. The ones who went the way of the older retread who had flamed out at a P5 school like Cincy (Tubberville) and UConn (Edsall) haven't fared so well.
  18. Also, we won 10 games in spite of him, not because him. When you have the most talented roster your school has ever seen led by the best player you've ever had (most likely ever will have), you don't lose to the only two teams on your schedule with a winning record. You beat your hated rival, play in a conf champ game, and then in a major bowl game...
  19. You can defend him all you want, but he's never gonna be the guy that gets us to that next level. If you wanna win 7-10 games a year in perpetuity, than sure by all means keep him around as long as he wants to be here. The guy is an above average recruiter and defensive mind, but an average at best head coach.
  20. I don't think either of us get that high. I think at the top they'll go 1. Bama/UGA 2. Bama/UGA 3. Oklahoma 4. Ohio State 5. Clemson 6.UCF Maybe flip UCF/Clemson, but they won't jump OSU and Oklahoma after both of their performances. Then I think we end between 20-23.
  21. that doesn't mean anything for the end of year rankings
