  1. My thoughts exactly when I saw this thread... Good God, spring, preseason, 3 games in... and we still have to wait for them to 'figure this out'...?
  2. We are better. Instead of losing to an FCS team, we handily beat one. That said, as long as our offense is entirely one-dimensional, it won't be hard to shut us down. That's the problem.
  3. Wow, great news for our future. Unfortunately we're all still living in the here and now... Frustrated always having to wait for 'next year'. You know I don't WANT Taggart to fail... I'd love it if he could turn this ship around. It just does not look like he can, 3 years in...
  4. The one or two 'good' passes per game does not translate to a legit passing threat. From our playcalling its obvious even the coaches don't believe QF can be a passing quarterback. When the opposing team is 'not worried' about our passing game, and the announcers gush about how we're playing a running back at quarterback... Then we have problems.
  5. One thing that ought to be clear now... we can't just survive by being a 'running team', with virtually zero threat of a passing game.
  6. We're in year 3. Following year 2 it was so bad the staff got gutted... EXCEPT for Taggart. That speaks volumes. Taggart only survived because we were paying Holtz. Now we're 3 games into year 3... and we look just as poorly prepared and poorly coached as we always have... I can't explain any of this, but I don't see any benefit to continuing to hemorrhage for the entire season. Maryland is a bad team. You all watched the game today... do you REALLY expect any improvement against our AAC schedule? We have the data we need. I'm sick of announcers treating our program like a joke. "Playing a running back at qb", etc etc.
  7. This. Next year new coach and a real QB... It pains me to say it, but thats how it looks right now...
  8. We had the ball with just a few minutes in the game... down by multiple scores. The announcers watched a few plays, and proclaimed we were 'sticking with our running game' (and killing the clock). Facepalmed. Honestly, and perhaps to his credit... Taggart is gambling his future that Flowers WILL get him 6 wins, and he keeps his job. If so, better to have invested the experience in his 4 star Flowers, than 'waste' it on Bench. If Flowers can get 6, it will have been a good gamble. If not, the next Coach inherits a beast of a team and gets Woulard. He's taking a risk, and through game 3 sticking with it.
  9. Flowers and Bench are very different types of players. One has all-star legs and scrambling ability, but (most will agree) suspect passing ability, or at least inconsistent. You can argue he shows the occasional flash of success passing and nails a TD or two, but can you argue he maintains a legit passing threat for an entire game? Lot of bad balls away from open receivers or at their feet. One at the end of the first half probably killed a drive and cost us points. The ESPN announcers were almost ridiculing our passing ability the whole game. Bench may not be P5 caliber, but he's a senior, and a more standard passing QB. He looked real good against FAMU. I love QF, and I'm not saying just play Bench, play both in the proper situations. There is nothing wrong with using all your assets. Bigger programs than us have played 2 quarterbacks.
  10. I have no problem starting QF, but Bench absolutely positively should see time if the offense struggles, or just to mix it up with a better passer. Again, I love QF he's a great kid... but basically playing a running back at quarterback (words of the ESPN announcers, not me) is going to kill us. I would LOVE for QF to prove me wrong and develop his passing game. But I agree, roll with QF into the Md game and see what happens. We BETTER win that one or it's going to get very animated in Bull-land.
  11. We beat a team we were expected to beat, and lost to a team we were expected to lose to... the season starts next week. Beat MD and we go bowling. Lead pipe lock.
  12. I hoped for, but didn't expect, a win. I'm proud, Bulls played with heard and played tough. This is a FAR improved team. That said, anyone who is not concerned about poor QB play has their head in the sand. We cannot win games with a 1 dimensional running game. We simply have to have a passing threat. I really love QF, and I hope he improves, and yes his scrambling ability is awesome... but he's still got a lot of poorly thrown balls. But I do think we go bowling for sure. This was our toughest opponent of the year.
  13. Should not reflect on the program as a whole, it's entirely due to our sad position as (based on last 3 years) being a bad team. No one is attending at RJS either. If our program becomes competitive again, obviously we'll be well supported again.
