Interesting. Did they go with a “name” like we did on Strong? They have won based on their high power offensive type football, this is not what Gus has done at Auburn. It could come back to haunt them. I would have gone with a younger guy with a resume of wide open attack.

This is not as bad as the Charlie Strong hire (at least Malzhan didn't run Auburn into the ground as Charlie Strong did Texas), but it is not a homerun hire.  It will be interesting to see what happens.  I wonder who bolts for the P5 first, Malzahn or Jeff Scott?

This is a great hire for them. 
Staying with the high power no huddle offense is what has made them so dominant in the AAC. If it aint broke...
If only we had been as smart with the GCO. Hopefully our admin learned.

USF needs to make its own destiny instead of worrying about UCF.  When I lived in Otown I used to tell my UCF alum friends the same thing whenever they beached about USF being in the Big East and not playing them.  Apparently UCF took that advice to heart and it worked for them.

Shocking a coach who won a National championship ended up at UCF. 
 

This is a good hire for them.
