half of his new salary would be deducted from the buyout, is my understanding

so if he made $1mil from us, 500K would be deducted from the texas buyout

but I could be wrong

Yep, i think that is correct. Thanks.

he has failed 50% of the time as a head coach. the other time he hired a known cheater.

I'm not talking about winning a NC or even a conference champ. I'm talking about having a winning record. He didn't even have a winning record in any of the 3 years he coached there. They were getting worse too.

Holtz sucked t USF but is doing freakin awesome at LA Tech. Once again sometimes the card you are dealt aren't good enough to win at that time.

I also fee that after one failed attempt at Texas, why would he want to keep changing jobs. Charlie strong is 56 years old.He will **** near be 60 3-4 years from now. Who wants to keep changing jobs and rebuilding programs that late in life? He will have money from the buyout and from his current coaching job so it's no longer money issue. Unless he just wants that coveted national title, there is no reason to force the issue. Even Skip Holtz admitted that he plans on retired as a coach for LA Tech.

I'd make the hire that gets us 2-3 great seasons.

1. Keeps recruiting up

2. Still winning

3. At that point, you're looked at as a great expansion candidate as a school

That is assuming that you can still win... there is an overwhelming chance that USF will fall flat on its face regardless of who we hire.

The odds of continued success are stacked against us right now.

Ok, but Holtz is having success. If Zook, Weis and Tuberville got 2nd and 3rd chances, than why can't strong get a 2nd chance?

Might have a point here...

One thing is for sure-- he'd be one hell of a recruiter.

Also P5 teams might be hesitant to hire Strong because of what happened at Texas..

I'd be down with Strong if he continues the spread offense and didn't use the DC from Texas.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
